Report: Aaron Rodgers Is At Steelers Facility On Friday

What fans think he is great?
The Tomlin Fan Club in the various Steelers Facebook groups. If you don't think he's The Greatest Coach Ever In The History Of Football Who's Never Had A Losing Season And Deserves His Own Wing In The Hall Of Fame then you're a racist.

No, never a LOSING record ever. 8-8-1 isn't a losing record. The most overhyped record ever. 9-7. 9-8, 9-7-1, 8-8, 8-8, 9-7-1, 8-8. Never a losing record.
The funniest part of that is the first year the NFL went to 17 games he manages to eke out an 8-8-1 record to keep the streak alive.

Whi on Here things he is great?

You can see that every move the team makes is designed for short-term success to get to that precious 9 wins every year.
As a result they keep on finishing mid-pack and keep on drafting mid-pack.
Super Bowls aren't the goal. If they happen to get there and win? That's just a bonus. The main goal is to be good enough to keep butts in the seats and keep the jerseys flying off the shelves.

Note, the streak is not on "winning seasons," its just on non-losing ones. He's had plenty of "non-winning" ones. He's a fraud.

The Tomlin Fan Club grasps at whatever straws they can.
I don't think the guy is a bad coach, I think he's a good coach, but not a great coach. Bad coaches don't go 18 years without a losing season but great coaches win playoff games in more than 4 seasons out of 18.

100% agree. Cleveland or the titans would think he is a great coach.
Steeler fans have a higher standard. And despite being mediocre for so long, we still expect more. Rightfully so.
I am not on the Facebook or the tictok
Do not see any fans loving on Tomlin anymore. It has been years since

And great coaches don't go 7 years without a playoff win. And we were never in any of those games, got destroyed in them all. What defense? Horrible.

And this should be the mindset of any rational person.
With any sport, business, (fill in the blank), it's a what have you done lately reality, or should be, to remain relevant.
Remain complacent and go the way of Kmart.

Back to A Aron, who I understand will be signing today because it's June 1st, isn't the answer.

Bill Belicheat is on 5 years without a playoff win and only 1 appearance in that time frame. He has only ever won 1 playoff game without Brady on the roster. Great QBs make great coaches. There are very, very few exceptions in the modern era and most of those were one year or one game wonders. Yes, we had Ben for some of those losses but he also contributed to some of those losses and was a shell of his former self. Tomlin hasn't won in a while, but you also can't take away the fact he gets them there. It is a double-edged sword. Do you knock him for losing those games or give him credit for getting flawed teams into those games. The truth lays somewhere in between. And yes, I still support Tomlin, but I am not blind to his faults as well.

To go that long w/o a losing season means you have to have a talent pool of players that are at least competitive. Next step is getting the most our of those guys which is where we fail. When Tomlin first took over we had many vet players and one of the most respected D coordinators in the game. As Tomlin got more comfortable I think he started to implement more of his philosophies into the team. I do not think Tomlin rates as even a good coach. We simply do not scheme for our good players. TJ doesnt move around or we do not give him help, minkah has a terrible role, we expect to stop lamar and henry w/ very little man power up front etc etc....On offense we are lacking more talent, but coaching is not helping what we have. Guys playing out of position, extremely predictable playcalling, not getting TEs involved, no use of the middle of the field, minimal use of the RBs in the passing game, etc etc.....A good coach would not handicap the players so much. If we at least tried different things and failed then that is one thing, but we just do the same thing over and over. The real kicker is when we open it up for a game like against Cinci then inexplicably revert back. I saw an article today where "insiders" and supposedly Smith himself said he had to dial back the offense last year. If this was not due to Tomlin then Im not sure what the reasoning would be. We could not get any more dumbed down. Tomlin has a good media presence even though most of what he says is BS. As far as coaching actual Xs and Os I do not feel Tomlin is even average in this area. His specialty is supposedly the secondary and we generally play a very passive basic concept along with having one of our better players (Minkah) sit back and twiddle his thumbs.

I guess we'll disagree, which is fine, because our opinions don't mean squat anyway.
Tomlins tenure has grown stale to the point that most of us don't expect much from this team, which sucks from a fan standpoint going into each season knowing the results will be the same. One of the great aspects of being a fan is hope, and that's been lost for a while now.

Like I said elsewhere, to understand what they're doing you gotta think short-term and then it all makes sense.
If they think that they can win 8 games with Mason (not an unreasonable expectation) but A-Aron will get them 9 or 10 wins and keep the streak alive, then they'll do whatever they can to sign him.

Makes what Joe Gibbs did all the more amazing. Won three SB's with three different QB's, none of whom would be called great.

Talking heads for years were saying we had SB caliber defense. Then the playoffs would around and we would give up 40 plus.

Yet still have that horrible DC and Mike chiming in.

Totally agree. This is why I have always said he is a solid “B” HC during the season, but gets an overall grade of “C+ to B-“ because of his poor postseason history.

Imagine moderaiting a sports forum when arent even quaified to moderate a tar and feater match. What a clown show.

If you don’t like it you know where the door is. It swings open easily.

I think Tomlin is tied for the most one and done's in post season history.

I agree. Tomlin seems afraid to try anything different. Too afraid to have a losing season. He just plays it safe, hoping to be good enough to win games. The worst part is that he isn't going anywhere anytime soon. We're stuck with him until he decides to go.

That's a great point about hope and with hope you have to be able to conceive or see it in your mind's eye. I cannot see Tomlin winning playoff games and outcoaching the better coaches because I can't see him adapting or elevating his game. It's much the same place we were in with late stage Kordell at QB. You had seen enough to know there was no hope of him being the guy. Where there is no vision the people perish it is said and right now the only vision is 9-8 Attrition Ball that just won't work when Big Boy football starts. Tomlin is predictably unimaginative when vision and imagination are needed.
