Ravens Thoughts and Going Forward

Look at the beatdown SF is now giving Cleveland. We have to acknowledge that the steelers opening schedule has been pretty tough.

Not counting the Bengals, the Steelers opponents record is currently 15-3. It will be 16-3 if SF wins tonight.

Despite that, the steelers should probably be 3-2 right now with wins vs Seattle and Balt. That's with all the early season chaos. Cleveland could be 2-3 after tonight and the Ravens are only 3-2 and they just lost starting S Tony Jefferson for the season. Their defense is already struggling and could fall apart.

Put records aside for a moment. We've seen the Steelers, Ravens, and Browns all play a few games. Right now today, who do you think is the best of the 3? I think it's the steelers. The Browns and Ravens both have major flaws that may not be fixable in season.

The Ravens defense is junk. They have no pass rush and their secondary sucks. Maybe if the get Jimmy Smith back, it will help some but now without Jefferson, they could be in trouble.

The Browns OL is garbage. Mayfield is constantly running for his life. Also, this defense has not been great yet. They are currently being carved up by the 49ers who have rushed for 185 yards before halftime.

Is anybody scared of the Ravens after that game?

Remember the old joke with 2 hunters in the woods and they come across a bear. First guy says, "I think we should run." The 2nd guys says "We'll never outrun a bear." First guys says "I don't need to outrun the bear. I just need to outrun you."

The steelers just need to outrun the Ravens and Browns and neither has sprinted out to a big lead.

If we lose next weekend is over at 1-5. Sometime this season we need to get a look some of the younger players like Gilbert and Buggs.

I think we can beat the Dolphins, Jets, Bungles once more, and after what saw last night, the Browns twice. Everyone else, not so much. So 6-10.

All teams can do that. IF the 49ers don't just give the ball away 3 times the Steelers get blown out. IF the bungles don't turn the ball over 3 times they beat Seattle. See how easy that is? If the bungles don't have 4 TOs against the Bills they win that game. That's 2. They lost to AZ by 3 points. They make a defensive stop and they could win that game. That's 3 games. See the bungles could easily be 3-2.

Sorry but these "What if's" don't work.

The steelers outplayed Seattle and Baltimore. That’s the difference. That’s why I counted those as games that could have been wins but I did not count the 49ers because the steelers were lucky to be in that game. That’s far different than the bengals who have been thoroughly outplayed each week.

It’s just making the point that the steelers played a rough schedule early and could have easily been 3-2. They are now improving and their schedule gets easier. That’s why it’s not crazy to think they could make a playoff run in the AFC that appears to be the Pats and Chiefs and then a bunch of mediocre teams.

The bungles were not outplayed by the Seachickens. I watched that game and the bungles passed all over them. They weren't outplayed by the Bills either. Just too many TOs.

Baltimore was/ is a mediocre team but they just beat us. So I'm not confident they are going to beat any team with a pulse.

A note on the Patriots alleged dominance. Look at who they have played so far

Steelers 1-4 with Ben's busted elbow - offense 22nd in pts 19.8 per game
Miami 0-4 offense 32nd - 6.5 points per game
Jets 0-4 offense 31st - 9.8 points per game
Bills 4-1 offense 26th - 18 points per game
Redskins 0-5 offense 30th - 14.6 points per game

Maybe their defense really is great or maybe they just played some of the worst offense in the NFL. Their whole schedule is a joke. How do these ******** seem to get the easiest schedule in the NFL every year?

The Pats held the rams to 3 points in the Super Bowl and they have much better players this year with addition of Collins, etc. You can play around with stats , the Steelers average 24 points a game against everyone this year without the Pats game.
