Ravens Thoughts and Going Forward

We're on our 3rd string QB, have a defense that can't stop anyone late in games and a HC who's best days are far behind him. Together with O and D coordinators who have no idea how to properly use the talent we have. Don't know what all that means, but it doesn't look promising.

iin OT the rats drives were for -4 yards and then 6 yards after the fumble

mayfield is NOT a good qb...
I agree, but he's not trash either, he's middle of the road, but can make plays, and it's a division rival. If we go out to LA and shut down Rivers then I'll buy into this defense more.

And no one says you have whine, if people want to look at the positives, have it that's your opinion, but it's ok to look at the other end too(not directed at you coal cracker). We are 1-4.

The only gripe I have with the coaching is using the wildcat. No way Baltimore is falling for that, so don't bother. In past seasons, with the killer B's, we squandered a powerhouse offense with an inept defense. Now, it feels like the opposite. It's gonna suck losing Hargrave in the off-season. Dupree is playing well. Not multi-year, high priced contract good, but he's been a TFL machine. Credit there where it's due. The D as a whole has been lights out though, so maybe that's just making things easier for him. I hope JuJu has to carry a football around everywhere he goes all week. Glad to hear Mason's prognosis is positive. That was truly horrifying to watch. When he was falling, his eyes were rolled back in his head and he looked dead. At this point, playoffs are a far cry, but screwing the Dolphins on their rd1 position and just seeing where this Duck experience takes us should be interesting.

Here is why opening the first two series with the wildcat/ trick plays was totally asinine.... you know for an absolute fact that the Ravens practiced for it all week since we relied on it so much last week.... the surprise factor wasn’t there and early in the game with a well rested D with their gameplan for that stuff fresh in their minds it was just absurd.... if you are going to run ot you wait till you have the d tired or over pursuing plays... it isn’t a staple play... its a change of pace that only works in the right situation

okay so I ask you for the "good QBs" the Steelers have to face and you include Mayfield, then you decide he is not a good QB but not trash....are you still drunk bog-jumper?

If they can beat the Chargers? They won't - and they won't beat the Colts, Bills, Ravens, Rams, Cardinals, and will likely split with the Browns. That puts them at 5 - 11 if they beat the rest and Tomlin led teams always lose a game they were expected to win so that will make up for a game they win against one of the above. I figure Dolphins, Jets, Browns (once), and Bengals are likely the only wins left on the schedule. This season is a time to find out what we have in new blood and who might replace Ben.
Not too shabby, certainly justifies Tomlin’s contract extension doncha think?

After last week, I said somewhere in a thread here that the next obvious iteration is that JSam has to throw a pass. The most likely next step was a halfback type pass. Apparently the Ravens thought the same.

Probably or at least very winnable
Dolphins, Browns, Cardinals, Bills, Jets, Ravens

Likely the Dolphins. Maybe the Cardinals. If they get lucky - The Jets.

On the other hand, The Browns will probably win both. The Bills will definitely win. The Ravens will be at home. No chance there. That game is tough when you don't have a Mash Unit going out there.

No. The reality is, the Steelers are most likely going to be a 4-12 or maybe a 5-11 team. Strong defensive effort notwithstanding, the season isn't going to magically become special. I honestly can't see Tomlin keeping a young group from completely mailing it in by mid-season. There will simply be no reason to go out and get yourself injured playing NOT to be the basement dweller in the North.

While I like Minkah Fitzpatrick in the defense, I am really starting to hate losing what will likely be a top 5 pick.

The spin was that Tomlin "was the only thing holding this thing together all these years."

Now it feels like he's the only thing holding it back.

And in regulation after we took the lead late in the game, when they absolutely needed a stop, even after that ridiculous penalty, they failed to do so. They let a struggling Jackson drive into FG range.

He was good last year, this year he's been average. So we'll see, I do know vs a bad QB in Lamar Jackson, they let him lead a game tying FG drive and move 50 yards in 2 mins.

I'd say the refs had a big part in that

Tomlin’s successes came on the back of the franchise QB and a couple of good coaches like Mike Munchak. Now that HCMT has to be creative with a 2nd year QB and now a third stringer? His “apparent “ abilities to manage the team’s phases will be profoundly displayed. By design or luck the Defense has some Pro Bowl caliber members. Will Tomlin develop or squander the talent? Remains to be seen.
Bubblegum Danny’s S/T play is wretched. Why does he still have a yob?

Of the games remaining, at this point the only team(s) they should feel particularly confident about are Miami, who seems determined to just lose throughout the season, and MAYBE the 2nd game with Cincinnati. Although, when they beat the hapless Bengals, it should be noted that Dupree was going up against a first time starter. So, frankly if their line gets healthy, who can say how that will go.

I had a guy come in today and say, "Well, I guess Tomlin has secured his contract extension. He's nearly won even when he's down to his 3rd QB." I had to stop myself from punching him in the mouth. "Next man up!" says Mike. The QB under center is NOT a component of absolution for Mike Tomlin. He's a great coach, let him coach with greatness. No excuses. None.

Good question on the bubblegum man. ST has been broken under his watch for years but he keeps coming back.

SCAPEGOAT for end of season............................... Been saying it for quite some time now. ST isn't rocket science and near anyone can replace ST coaching even in mid-season.

Ok so I just watched a video on fox sports of dean blandino explaining why ET3 didnt get ejected. He stated that there was a flag thrown on the field, saying that MR DID get the defenseless player flag but NY must've decided the hit was not enough to warrant ejection.

Am I missing something? I was bitching about a flag the entire time. Was I so worked up that I missed it?

No you didn't. If you have it DVR'd , AFTER Rudolph was on the ground, the ref pulls out the flag and drops it at his feet. If you blink you will miss it.

Going forward I'm sticking with my 3-13 prediction

2020 Draft Order

1. Bengals
2. Washington
3. Dolphins
4. Jets
5. Dolphins (from Steelers)

I thought we had the most loyal fan base? Never know it by this thread. WOW.

DUDE, it's because some of us are so passionate about our beloved STEELERS, so don't be so quick to judge and group.

A blind follower I'll never be. After 4+ decades I've seen probably the best team ever assembled in the 70's. The 80's are just a blur. The 90,s the legacy picked back up until 2008. They've been eroding for 11 years. They have no identity. If you took the colors and names off of them could you say that's the Steelers, just by the way they play?If you can't understand frustration by some of us then i don't know what else to tell you.

If not for the Steelers I wouldn't watch any NFL football.

BWAhahaha

It's well know only the lowest drunken gutter ***** ******** come to SN, and the women are worse

It's because we have Tomlin and Co. running the show, it's because we are down to an undrafted QB starting, it's because we just lost our 3rd WR while #2 is just a rookie. It's enpugh stuff going on to be down
