Potential WR trades.. Aiyuk watch 2.0 🤦🏻‍♂️

C’mon, might as well work for Fillaponni if you are going to throw this pure speculation at the wall. TDS goes both ways.

Williams played in 9 games but was only given 13 targets. That’s a QB decision, not the coordinator. Williams caught 9 of those 13 targets @ 14 yard avg. Williams non-usage was a Russ decision, not Art. Plus, blocking acumen? Please, GP had the worse blocking skills of all the WRs in the squad. At least CAIII tried when attempting,

Preston Smith played in 8 games with 130+ snaps (or 30% of those 8 games). Two sacks and 3 TFL were accounted for, but his use was mainly for setting the edge as a 3/4 OLB while as TJ and Smitty’s back up. Herbig was the primary back up pass rusher, but he wasn’t stout enough against the run. That’s why Omar and Tomlin got Smith who had requested a trade from GB since they switched to the 4/3 alignment much to his disliking on a contract year
Yeah.....I just read it in an article. I don't think I posted it as if it was written in stone. Could there be some truth there though. Sure.

Ya don’t get credit for trying to block
Ya get the block or ya don’t
A try and miss is as ineffective as not trying

A guy like Muth that alleges “I block my *** off” but whiffs as much as he does cracks me up, he must subscribe to the effort counts more than the result too.

At any rate it’s quite simple ya get your block or ya don’t and bad things happen when ya don’t.

When GP did try he was a far better blocker than CA3 and in the end was consistently better than CA3 as a blocker even with the plays taken off…so the percentage of made blocks was better.

It’s the result that matters, not the effort. Same would go for OL…I don’t get a **** how hard ya try. Are you winning or losing plays?

My 2 cents

And 100% not disputing that it would be great if guys that had the ability made the effort all the time to maximize their potential.

This post made me miss Hines ward even more than normal

One of, if not, the greatest ever!!!

Dude always efforts to the block and his technique was punishing. A true game changer, they literally had to change the rules because he took blocking too seriously. Defenders with their heads on a swivel, scared in the middle of the field, for fear a liquid diet 🤣

Effective and always giving the max effort, and doing all with that infectious smile…you could tell he truly loved the game including the down and dirty work. He’s the type of guy that a team can build a winning culture around.

One of my favorite Steelers of all time,
Couldn’t agree more Blitz…miss him every game

The guy who didn’t try but who allegedly is a “top 5 talent” (laughable), is no longer on the team. Apparently it matters to the front office.

So the thing about Williams was he was in less than 30% of the offensive snaps despite being on the roster for three games pickens missed... it absolutely was either a OC or HC thing...

lets put it in perspective statistically... they gave Williams 171 offensive snaps here... in 9 games... he was targeted 13 times there... so 7.6 percent of his snaps, the QB threw to him...

In George Pickens 13 games, he got 80.5% of offensive snaps (774) he was targeted 103 times... so 13.3% of the time.

CA3 played all 17 games and got a bit over 50% of offensive snaps ( 593) he was targeted 58 times... so 9.8% of the time

Van jefferson was in 64% of offensive snap counts.. he had 40 targets in 721 snaps, so 5.5% of the time...

The QB threw to Williams when he was an option... now, his first four games he got 70 snaps and was only targeted once... so you could point out that as lack of targeting, but the final five games he was targeted 12% of the snaps he was on the field for

This offense just doesnt utilize WRs much... and Tomlin and Smith both want blocking Wrs... they just dont give guys like Williams many options on running downs when play action would benefit them the most...

Great post, nice statistical breakdown. Bottom line is that Williams was not on the field enough last season.

It's hard to say how much the balls to who, how much were so ultra planned as we often assume or is it more just an affinity to a QB's likes?
