Penn Sate football sued

Hazing can be illegal, but there are also instances where it isn't. For hockey, we had some dum ones, like how long can you stand in your underwear with your arms out holding hockey sticks, without letting them touch the ground. Riding a construction yellow man sign down a set of stairs (albiet the wall to the stairs was 3 feet from the bottom step, and we had to wear helmets). Top riders had the biggest holes in the wall. Take shots to the *** (from a stick and puck you sickos). Also had strippers sit on faces.

I don't think any of that was illegal, but it was still called hazing, and it was fun as hell!

That's what makes hazing tough to judge. It's in the eye of the beholder. I know i have done tons of dumb things with friends. Pranks are fun and can build unity. What one person calls a prank, somebody else might call it hazing. Is throwing a guy in the ice tub hazing? How about taping a guy to the goalpost? I've heard those as very common football pranks.

The problem can be the guy who takes **** too far. I think taping a guy to the goalpost is funny, so long as you cut him down after maybe 10-15 minutes. But sometimes you have that guy who would pour hot sauce in somebody's eyes. He thinks it's hilarious because he's an idiot and doesn't realize it crosses a line.

I tend to agree... again the stupidity of the kids, and all that goes way too far, isn’t really the big issue if true... there are several major problems

The first is that this was reported before he transferred. According to the kids lawyer, penn state didn’t do a formal investigation until may of this year... after a second anonymous person made a similar claim... if thats true there would probably be no way they could substantiate a year old claim with any certainty...

Second if the allegations that coaches watched without stopping it they should be fired and banned for life from college football...

Third if there was retaliation, then thats even worse.

If this is just a “he said, but the other guy said...” thing it goes nowhere, but if more crawl out of the woodwork then Penn state is doomed... it will be everything college culture loves to hate rolled into one... sexual assult, bullying, hazing, retaliation...

We will know soon enough... all those kids and coaches are gonna get put under oath and their social media will get pulled... and the press is going to dig into it... if his story is bullshit it won’t be hard to catch. It will be like the duke lacross accuser who lied... If penn state buried it something else will leak... 100 people cannot keep a secret...

After all PSU went through, i think it's unlikely they would have swept anything like this under the rug. Also, there was a fraternity hazing incident at PSU a year or so ago where a kid died so again, it seems unlikely that this would have been ignored because everybody at PSU is on high alert for this sort of stuff.

It does go back to what one considers hazing. Maybe the kids did do something that crossed a line but told the coaches it was something stupid like they farted in his face or something. What does a coach do with that? He likely says knock it off and moves on with his day. Then later it comes out that it was something worse, is that on the coach?

We'll see i guess but here is Humphrey's note he posted when he transferred.

“I’m so thankful for the coaches and the staff for allowing me to come here all the way from Texas,” Isaiah Humphries wrote. "I have made many friends here that I will dearly miss and it’s going to be hard to leave them here. But in order to grow and not lose the passion that I have for football and everything that I value. I unfortunate [sic] will be transferring from this place.

“I appreciate everything that has been given to me and the relationships that I have made along the way. Good luck to the Nittany Lions on their bowl game and I wish them the best.”

Not sure why something has to be illegal for the average person to comprehend a good idea from a bad one. This **** is ****** up. Whoever partakes in it, witnesses it and just stands by while it happens has some degree of consequences coming their way.
In today's society this should be a thing of the past.......not so ........ I guess some of you think it is acceptable....pathetic........ someone tries to correct a situation by informing coaches, or authorities seems like the chosen way to go......... better than a victim bringing a gun or a knife to the locker room and handling it that way...

So what a second here, you think it's okay to teabag someone, or to simulate that you're butfucking them? Against their will? Are you insane, or do you like the meat flute?

It was all talk and just allegations and this was reported up the chain, investigated and turned over to the local DA. They investigated it and said no charges of any kind were warranted. Again, I guarantee this happens in high school, college and the NFL. That's even IF this is true. Someone is trying to make money here. That's the only reason this has been filed in civil court as the DA didn't bring charges against any one.

No reason at all to make this personal but you did. So......

Something isn't quite correct here. Incomplete information, or incorrect information.

I'd suggest waiting a bit to let facts come out.

It would be beyond startling that an institution, already shamed, would conduct an investigation and then bury stuff like this.

Sounds like someone is looking for a big pay day. My bullshit meter is tripping. If it's true? You're pretty weak if you let someone do that to you without punching them in the balls as hard as possible.

If there are other kids who got hazed/assaulted like this, they will come out of the woodwork now (well, maybe not as they want their football careers). If other do come out telling the same stories, Franklin is done as a coach forever - not even HS will take him. The Penn State football program will be done!!! After the Sandusky ****, the NCAA will destroy the program with penalties. They will not be able to recruit for many many years. You just cannot let this **** happen on your watch - it's absurd!

Thug life asserting their dominance? I just wish somebody got injured due to a throat punch because of this garbage.

Jason Whitlock has written extensively about the influence of "prison culture" on today's athletes.

If this is true and possibly even if it's not, this will open up the lawsuits coming from high school, college and the NFL. "Hazing" happens all throughout sports. Someone will file a lawsuit because he was a rookie and had to buy someone lunch or carry his gear. That's how ridiculous and slippery this slope is/will get.

Guy A (or multiple guys) pin Guy B to the floor - I see no issue.

Guy A whips out his dick and sits on Guy B's chest/head - you just crossed a line that there's NO COMING BACK FROM.

Guy A strokes his dick while sitting on Guy B - If it were me, I'd wait until I was released. Walk my *** to my car/room/whatever - come back w/ my heater and SOMEBODY is gonna be patchin' a hole is Guy A's body...

Pittsburgh Central Catholic had this exact thing happen like15 years ago, football players, not priests.

True but these are still allegations and I guarantee a "dick in the face" happens at all levels as well. I was just using that as an example of the slippery slope this will open. Just like for fraternities, they started calling lack of sleep, carrying someones books, etc. hazing and held that to the same degree of hazing as broken bones, getting drug until passing out, etc. It's not the same but attorneys will lump it all together. They are liars to the nth degree. I hope this goes nowhere as this will open another pandoras box for all levels of football and possibly other sports as well.

I've never teabagged anyone, but now that I'm in my 50's I probably wouldn't have to squat down as far.

You have to interpret the law I posted from the state. But hazing is illegal if it comes up to those levels. Both sexual harassment and hazing are illegal activities according to state law.

Agreed. Though what some kids call hazing isn't the law's definition.

Back in 86-87 when I was attending Slippery Rock a fraternity got banned from campus ( I believe it was the TKE frat) for taking their pledges out late at night and making them screw farm animals. ******* should have been thrown in jail.

I'm calling bullshit. Today's youth whip out their phones and record EVERYTHING...hoping that they go viral. They all want to be internet famous. Hell, two girls from where I grew up recorded themselves giving a 2 year old a hit of a juul. They laughed "hella hard" as the toddler coughed it's *** off. They were arrested and charged. stupid, stupid, stupid.

These guys are mostly teenagers. They will do stupid ****. That's a fact. Especially depending on where they come from and how they were raised.
