Packers win with no time left on TNF. They got an extra play because of a ridiculous facemask call.

http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2015...ursday-night-football-hail-mary-aaron-rodgers

On the previous play, Rodgers was being tackled. But the Lions defender was called for a facemask.

The replay showed that the guy's hand was on Rodgers' shoulder pad - right below the facemask - with his thumb poking through the opening. That was enough for the call.

Total BS. The Lions led the entire game. To lose...well, that's so Lionesque. But they got screwed by yet another terrible call.

It was the right call. I thought the same at first, he touched the face mask, now Rogers acted it out and did a good job of it. But if you watch it slow motion, there was touching.

So you can't touch the facemask? That happened on a play just a minute or so earlier and wasn't called.

The guy didn't grab the facemask, or run his hand over it. His thumb poked through the opening.

The Packers got the call because it was Rodgers.

That was amazing. The last two plays to get the win was something you would see in a movie. One of the best endings ever!

The Packers got the call because Rodgers sold it like his facemask was grabbed and twisted when it was just barely touched.

Turns out it was a bad call, but I can clearly understand why the flag was thrown. Official was behind, and from there, it looked like a facemask cause Rodgers sold it perfectly.

But what in the blue hell were the Lions doing on that Hail Mary? Every damn player was standing behind their Packer player, except for Richard Rodgers who had nobody near him at all. Pathetic. Just pathetic.

No, if you remember a few years ago it was just a 5 yard penalty for just touching the face mask. Now it's no matter if there's head turning or not it's a free 15 with automatic first down. I don't agree with it either but...it is what it is.

Actually the rules state that you can grab a facemask, but if you do not release it IMMEDIATELY, it's a penalty. Not only did he not GRAB the facemask, his hand immediately was removed from the facemask area and went to the shoulder pads.

Terrible call, but what were the defensive backs doing on the hail mary? Not a single one was on the goal line. This was as bad as what happened in Cleveland on Monday.

NFL needs to hire younger refs or refs who are not bribed

That was a crazy way to lose. If the Lions and Browns were to play, it would definitely end in a draw.

Bribed................. ordered is more like it. The nfl or "big money" has a hand in the out come of all games. They aren't nessecarily fixed, to the extent of "no matter what", but outcome motivated to say the least. It's down to the fine line science of, coaxing things along the right way and keeping you thinking it isn't fixed. They seem to be doing a fine job as MOST think all those calls, are the ref's fault. WHY do you thinkl they keep part time refs? Why do you think they keep you from knowing if it is a catch or not? Why is it a 15yrds automatic 1st down with last nights face mask? Why do the cheats keep cheating and the league not punish and expose the truth? These are just to name a few, it's all about the money and where there is "BIG" money, a lot of the risk is taken away, "fixed" to a degree.

WHY, WHY, WHY only rush 3 defenders!!!

He needs several seconds to allow his receivers to get to the end zone, why give him that time?

Rush five and he never gets the pass off or he's forced to throw way early or short of the end zone.

what a garbage league it's become. You almost need a ******* lawyer for all of the stupid rules of the game to be deciphered. They're just trying to create some drama because the NFL product sucks ***. It looks like hammered crap and in no way can they polish that turd into a diamond without getting back to the roots of the game.

Thank you for solving the case of the "not REALLY fixed" NFL, Scooby Doo

I think the facemask was a bad call, but I'm sure standing directly behind Rodgers it probably looked like a facemask. It even looked like a facemask when I watched it live. They should be able to correct crap like that.

Fox News just showed a slow-motion replay of the Hail Mary, with Bill Hemmer sounding as excited as a child on Christmas morning. Yes, great catch by R. Rodgers, and a great pass by A. Rodgers to get it up so high and give his receivers time to get to the endzone.

Hemmer went on to briefly mention the facemask call and how it gave the Packers an extra play. Then he exclaimed, "I love this game!"

I almost lost my breakfast -- before I ate.

The NFL "borrowed" from the USFL's replay setup by allowing coaches to challenge.

You're right: The NFL now needs to borrow from the CFL system and make this type of play reviewable.

As someone here mentioned - and Chris Berman noted on ESPN Monday night - the Grey Cup game was impacted by a blatant pass interference that wasn't called. But after the Edmonton coach challenged, it was corrected (and Edmonton went on to win).

Lions DBs played that Hail Mary horribly, they should win that play. Here's an idea, don't commit that stupid penalty to give them the free play.

It wasn't really a penalty. It was a blown call by the referee.

Rodgers was brought down by a hand to his shoulder pad, not a hand to his facemask.

They didn't put pressure on Rodgers, any QB with a strong arm can make that pass, the rest is largely left to luck.

And it wasn't a penalty.
