Coaching Staff
-Matt Canada needs replaced and they need to do so with a real offense. There was a good article on various offensive schemes in the NFL and the Steelers need to decide on a direction (
https://www.theringer.com/nfl-playo...anahan-kliff-kingsbury-bruce-arians-andy-reid). Drafting Harris last year, they fit into "The Throwbacks."
-Keith Butler is rumored to retire after the season. Don't settle on Austin as the replacement and hire from outside.
-Write a blank check for Munchak to come back as OL coach.
Quarterback
-Decide on what they want to do at QB for 2022. I don't think they'll make a big trade, so do you roll with Rudolph or make a play on UFA veteran? I take my chances on a guy like Trubisky, Winston, etc.
-Do we draft a QB early? I could see the Steelers taking a chance on a developmental guy like Willis but also go with a more experienced Howell.
Running Back
-Get a legitimate backup for Harris off the free agent market. They are a dime a dozen, find one.
Wide Receiver
-DJ and Claypool aren't going to cut it and there are too many holes to draft one early. I try to find a guy to round out the WR corps in free agency. I'd be happy if JuJu returned, I just don't see it making sense for him.
Offensive Line
-This was priority 1 last year and the Steelers went to the bargain bin to fix it. It was worse than 2020 and regressed throughout the year.
-Hire a good OL coach.
-The line needs at least two quality additions. RG and RT are open right out of the gate, but I wouldn't be upset if they replaced all five guys. My guess is Moore and Dotson will be at LT and LG to start the year.
-Move Green to the bench.
Defensive Line
-This one is tough because if Alualu and Tuitt actually return, you have a solid group when you factor in Heyward, Wormley, and Loudermilk. I probably try to make another veteran signing for depth.
Inside Linebacker
-Schobert makes a lot of money so they'll have to decide on him.
-I add another free agency (Anthony Walker Jr.) to the starting lineup.
Cornerback
-The front office botched this position last year with Hilton and Nelson. Just terribly mismanaged.
-They need to re-sign Witherspoon and add a free agent starter (maybe a guy like Donte Jackson) to replace Haden.
Safety
-You can't have Pro Bowlers at every position. I try to re-sign Edmunds to a fair deal and extend Fitzpatrick.
Priorities
1. Fix the offensive line by any means necessary. Sign a starter or two, including one stud. Draft a high-pedigree player in the first two rounds.
2. Sign a starting CB. It's a deep and talented CB draft, I just don't trust the team's evaluation and development process at the position.
3. Address the defensive line depth.
Wildcard: Quarterback, I have no idea what they plan here.
