Clearly you owe reparations, Vader!

For my part, I disagree with the Republican reps slinking out the back door. It's wrong when either party does it. The state legislature is made up of reps from each county. Therefore if they have a significant democrat majority it is because the counties of Oregon voted them in. Therefore do your part and vote according to your constituency's interest. It is the responsibility of each representative to determine what his or her county wants and vote accordingly regardless of party affiliation or even personal interests.

If our reps actually did their jobs, we'd be a much happier nation.

My family owned slaves right near where I live. After the civil war they freed them. They never left the farm. They came to my great, great,grandfather and asked if they could stay. He told them they could stay and continue farming if they wanted to. They had nowhere else to go. So they stayed. He wasn't a violent man anyway. He and his family worked with them on the farm. After he died he left them some land to farm and the land deed to their houses.

I don't believe in paying for other people's sins. If I mess up then blame me. Don't blame my son or my grand kids for something I did. It isn't right nor is it the American way.

Also I don't care what the Reps are doing. The Governor did the exact same thing when she was in legislator. So **** her.

I'm guessing your family is from one of the five slave states that remained in the Union - Missouri, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland or West Virginia?

Nope. They were from Richmond VA originally and moved to MS during the early 1800.

My older sister converted to Mormonism decades ago. I can go back to the 14th century, and may be the only good thing I can say about her decision, but it was hers to make.

I was just referring to tracing my ancestry to the U.S. The book goes back further. It's just been years since I read it. We're Scandinavian. My family came together in England where the Vikings clans came together. There is a town in England with our name.

I've studied a little Mormon teachings.... it's a bit strange and not to my liking.
