Football would no longer exist if you did these changes. These changes go right to the core of being able to manipulate the games. Yes I said MANIPULATE and those that still don't think there is manipulation going on,....... then you best dig that hole a little deeper while stuffing your head down it.
What is the biggest draw to watching football,....... GAMBLING. More money is exchanged in the gambling aspect than any other revenue of sports. The BIG tV contracts are a result of the gambling. BIG MONEY isn't going to sit by and let things go by chance........ TAKE away the controversy and you take away the chance of manipulation. Controversy draws publicity and there is NO BAD publicity when it comes to the game.
I'm all for a fair game but those days, along with what football was meant to be as a game, are VERY long gone and not to be returning anytime soon if at all.
GREED is the driving factor in all that is wrong with the NFL and all things involved. What's the cost of a ticket? Hot dog and a beer? parking? well you get the drift. Now add in the league itself allowing "flexability" on the rules and add a blind eye to that as well. Think about this..... WEEK 7 and 63% of football fans (non-new england market area) polled believe NE is going to win the SB. The number one reason was cheating / fixed. Why is that so early in the season not even 1/2 way point and majority of fans have the SB winner belief??? MANIPULATIONMANIPULATIONMANIPULATION is the 3-word answer.
Remember to look on the back of your "purchased" game ticket and it says point blank that the price paid is for the entertainment value of said game. Entertainment value, nice way of saying nothing matters unless we say it matters and officiating is entertainment and it doesn't matter. Judgement plays, pass interference amongst them, are manipulation plays and look how ****** up it has become with the answer to their fixing that particular problem. Ahhhhh the good O'l days when the ORANGE sleeved TV time out guy was used for manipulation, things were much simpler in those days and the game was perceived fair but OH waht a turn the future has brought........
