Yep ... thought so myself. But sh@t happens in the draft.
 
I did not look at Golson as much as some others because he was small and the steelers like bigger CBs. I love the pick though because for the first time in a long time the steelers drafted a CB whose specialty is covering and not making tackles.

I'm guessing he will play in the slot because of his size. Finally, the steelers have a DB with ball skills.
 
Going from Eric Rowe and Jalen Collins to Golson is a leap of faith, but it looks like the Steelers felt strongly about this kid. I'm as infatuated with tall corners as anyone, it's humbling to think 5-9, 5-10 guys do make great football players, from time to time. Let's hope that's the case with Golson. Welcome to the 'Burgh!

I dont like the pick, but he's a Steeler now so lets get behind him. Hope he proves us all wrong. Still hoping we go corner this round too. PJ Williams still not drafted? Like Charles Gaines from Louisville. Also still have Carter, Grant out there too.

The steelers card had already been turned in when the Ravens picked. If that card said Maxx Williams, it would not have been accepted. Ravens panicked and traded up.

It's a reach pick in the 2nd Coolie. You can't deny that! Plus his height has to be a concern regardless of his "BALL HAWKING SKILLS"

I'm sorry but I can't remember a 5'8 1/2" CB who was a top notch cover corner in the NFL. He's 5'8" for the record!

Darrell Green was 5'9" tall but that was a different period in the NFL 32 years ago. WR's & TE's were no where close to the sizes these guys are now. Even 15 years ago the average WR was 200lbs and the average TE was 220lbs. I just see mismatches and this pick was a reach for a 2nd rounder.

i'm thinking it's because he doesn't always get separation. But that's not his game. He's an Anquan Bolden.

Texans just stole him. He's a great pair with Deandre Hopkins. Hopkins can be the deep threat and Strong will do all the dirty work.

I was hoping he'd fall to the steelers but i'm glad he didn't land in the AFC North. He would have been perfect for jump ball Flacco.

the draft isn't over and training camp hasn't started, but you have the pats killing the Steelers week one......

you probably still think the Steelers should have fired Cowher at halftime against the bungles....

And Del, don't be hard on your board. I'm having a blast following the draft with it. You took the time to do all of that work, and you'll still be about as right as anyone getting paid.

Lake called his new cornerback tough and smart.

“He’s very sharp. He won’t have a problem learning the system. He’ll adapt very quickly to schemes and positions we put him in.
 
And you're still pretty close to the rounds projected from these players. I just assumed this was a draft weighted for the Steelers needs.

“He’s very likeable, very personable, very approachable. He speaks well. He’s a very thoughtful young man.

“He’s tough. He’s not one of the bigger corners but what I measure DBs on is how tough they are. They have to check that box with me.”
 
Golson: 4.46sec / 40yds, 4.2 - 20yd shuttle, 6.8 - three cone drill. 176lbs.
Shazier: . 4.38sec / 40 yds, 4.2 - 20yd shuttle, 6.9 - three cone drill. 237lbs.

I'm sure it will work out just fine.
