Let's put this in terms you MAY understand. Using some democratic principles doesn't make you a democracy any more than having some limited social programs doesn't make you Socialist.

Repeat #9: We are a CONSTITUTIONAL FEDERAL REPUBLIC. That is our CORE system. The fact that it exhibits some DEMOCRATIC principles does NOT negate that we are a constitutional federal republic.
