Well, ****.
The last two games, the Bolts seemed to be, specifically, avoiding hitting the Craps. No idea why, when it was working.
No team or fanbase really deserves anything until they win the four games needed in the Finals. What do the Caps and their fans deserve? Underachieving and choking for the last 10 years deserves a Cup? I don't think so anyway. I will be pulling for Vegas! Cannot root for the Caps, just like the Ravens. They are douche bags. Their fans, coaches and teams. If they win a ring, good for them, they probably deserve it, but I don't have to pull out the pom poms. I wouldn't watch the last 3 minutes, handshake and trophy presentation. Wasn't interested. Call me a poor sport or whatever. I'm on the Golden Knights bandwagon hard now. Toot toot!
By deserving I mean...
Paid their dues as NHL fans....
They have been through their ups and downs,(especially those that have been Caps fans since their existence in the NHL), more downs than ups, mainly because of the Pens..
Caps fans have also invested much more time, money, and emotional attachment to their squad than the Vegas fans obviously..
I say...no one fan base should experience the thrill of winning, and then hoisting and hosting the Cup in their first year of NHL fandom!
Caps in 6 BTW...
The Caps fan base and the DC area hockey fans, are in general more deserving/worthy of the Stanley Cup residing in their town for the next year.
Until the past two Tampa games I wouldn't have given the caps a chance in hell. As much as I despise Ovechkin, he played his *** off. He played a strong and physical 200 foot game. He distributed the puck and scored as well. I think the caps will pull this out but will be rooting for Vegas.
It will be interesting to see if the expansion rules change when Seattle joins the league. Vegas had some unique benefits in how their team came together. That said, coaching and hunger go a long way. I think Vegas Organization has done a heck of a job all year. .
He stopped being a selfish puck hog and became a real captain. Still want them to lose in epic fashion. I'm not a fan of first year teams winning it all,but I hate the craps more. Plus they have a few former pens on the team I really like. Flower was all class. I can't help but to root for his success. And in Reaves short time he really grew on me. I think it's the beating the **** out of people, but also having skill to help in other ways I found most appealing.

Washington, DC is NOT a hockey town. I lived there for 3 years and they are honestly fair weather.
Fair weather fans everywhere man...
The real Cap fans have supported that team through a lot of very bad hockey for years after the entered the league in 1974 with the Kansas City Scouts...
Kansas City didn't support the expansion Scouts...but the DC area did support the Capitals through many lean years...
Lots of serious hockey fans in Virginia and Maryland have lived and died with the Caps since 1974...its not just DC people that are Caps fans..

I put the caps fans on a par with the Pens fans of the 80's. Support comes from winning. They both had the same lack luster fan bases until each team had some success. I've been to more caps games than their average fan. You can get lower bowl tickets really cheap a couple hours before the games (until now). I've always enjoyed seeing them take a loss and I like hockey. An hour drive to the metro and get dropped off almost at the front door. Used to be the same with the Pens in the 80's, cheap tickets were easy. I could be there in 45 minutes. This year the wife and I did 11 caps games and 17 Pens. I sat near good fans in both venues. I've sat near idiots in both.
D.C. is not a hockey town yet but if the caps make a good spirited showing or win the cup, it will be. I'm not happy about it. I won't pay serious money to watch the caps. The past couple of years tickets would average 60% less than Pens.
I like hockey too.
Caps fans hate us. Come to be expected whooping that *** 9-2 times in the playoffs. It's a rivalry. I hope they lose. Ovie could be a saint or even Jesus and I'd still hope they lose.
I'll watch as is cause I love hockey. But to hell with the caps.
And every team does have band wagoners.
But that's the fun thing about hockey is the hardcore fans are loyal and want the best for the league/sport:
The caps do have some loyal/hardcore fans.
Just like us over here!
But.......
**** the caps
