NFL needs to review Concusion Protocol

Looked like a great violent legal hit to me. Also looked like he got knocked the **** out. Some concussion protocol.
 
No the crown of his helmet struck his chin. It was not legal, unless somehow being out of the pocket negates that rule. I don't think it was legal.

Well you missed the 66,000 in attendance all gaps together....."OOOOOOOHHHHHHHH" Was a good indicator of how brutal the hit was.

I will tell you one thing. It most certainly was not roughing the passer. Dude was outside of the numbers, he was a runner, who tried to make a pass. If anything, the play could have been ruled helmet to helmet, but by rule, it is impossible to rough the passer outside of the pocket.

Yeah, the wife and I were like "WTF? It wasn't a late hit" until we saw the replay and could see him get hit in the chin.

The "Shazier" Rule? From last year's Wild Card when Shazier laid out one of the Bengals RBs (I think it was Bernard)?

There was a time when I would have been all geeked up about that hit. Maybe it's the new rules and I'm getting older and have kids playing football. I'm more concerned for the injured then I used to be. I will say this the Steelers linebackers have a lot more nasty happening. Dupree is a very aggressive player. Hell he starts camp fights. Shazier and Timmons always bring it and Debo is Debo.
 
I was concerned for Moore after that hit. You knew,even best case, that he was going to be laying there for a while.

Don't turn into a rb and leave the pocket. You won't get hit. If it's your standard number wearing rb it isn't an issue. It's not badminton. Just throw the ball away. I see too many times qbs run out of the pocket for a first down. Just keep on running out of bounds before you get popped.

And that hit was correctly ruled, not a foul. It was a hard ******* hit on a runner with the ball. Want to know why RBs get hit in the head a lot, because they drop their head and lead with it.

Here's the issue with the Dupree hit. If the NFL issues a fine to Dupree, they are admitting helmet to helmet contact. If that is the case, Miami may be fined or docked a draft pick for not taking the hit seriously. It appeared to me that Moore lost consciousness. Then to let him back in the game without checking the eyes for pupal delay or dilation. No checking his neck, no baseline questions asked. Just throw him back on the field after one play off.

Moore returned and in the remainder of the game, threw a pick and fumbled twice. Not sure it was a smart choice to throw him back on the field without any check whatsoever. I thought the NFL had people in place (the blue hats) to come in and force a checkup after hits like that. So either the NFL ****** up there or the Dolphins lied to get Moore back on the field quickly. If it's the latter, Miami has to be punished for its decision.
 
We all at the bar I was at (Steeler fans and non Steeler fans) wondered how he came back in so quickly. Didn't that same thing happen with Burfict in the Cincy game? He was let back in later after supposedly failing concussion protocol?
 
Here's a replay of Harrison's forced fumble. Which occurred a play or 2 after the head injury. In the top Gif, you can clearly see Moore looking directly in Harrison's direction, and even reiterated it in his post game, stating he knew the runner was there, and should have thrown the ball away.

Now the interesting thing this shows me, if you look at Moore, he is looking left in Harrison's direction immediately after the snap. When you are concussed, you can experience short term tunnel vision, which decreases your ability to see peripherally. He may have been surprised when 92 got closer since he lost his peripheral vision.

The other explanation is far more troubling. Moore saw Harrison, and was unable to process what to do in time. Concussions also cause motor delay. If Moore saw Harrison, and was unable to physically get out of his way, he was definitely experiencing full concussive symptoms. This play occurring so quickly to his initial hit, causes a lot of questions about the Dolphins and NFL's ability to correctly check a player and safely clear them after a blow to the head.

With a player such as BIRTHDEFECT,............you kind of encourage them to go back in...

Burfict was pretty visibly concussed during the game. A couple days later a concussion was confirmed. Amazingly (or not), he passed the tests to get back in the game against the Steelers.

Dude was concussed. There is absolutely no way he wasn't. He was sawed in half. His play after the hit was completely different then previous. Yes he settled in and made some throws. But he also did some very head scratching things. The NFL is a bunch of hypocrites that are really full of ****. how you could get a medical doctor to sign off on that is beyond me. Like some of those boxing doctors who let the guy who's face looks like hamburger go back in for another round. You took an oath dude.
