In case it snuck up on you it’s tonight at 8:20. But maybe it will be more like 8:30 if they have 10 minutes of protests for our enjoyment. Reports are that the Chiefs will be allowing about 16,000 fans in attendance. How many will be there? I heard there were some restrictions like you had to show up together in a group that lives together or something. Maybe some ticket holders won’t show up because they’re aren’t sure of the rules.

the ratings will be interesting. A lot of people are angry about the politics in the game, but it’s still prime time opening game. Ratings should be big but how long will ratings remain if politics persist? It sucks to even have to bring that stuff up but let’s face it. That is the main story tonight whether you like it or not.

as for the game, you have 2 QBs who just got paid big time. Mahomes clearly earned it but Watson is more of a leap of faith. He’s been good but has he been great? Has DeAndre Hopkins been making him look good?

People bash O’Brien for trading away Hopkins but it may have been a smart move. The Texans knew they were going to break the bank on Watson. Could they also give Hopkins a huge deal? Not likely, so they got what they could.

I think the bottom will fall out of the WR market soon. When even old school Nick Saban is spreading it out with multiple WRs, it shows how many good WRs are coming out each year. Why pay a top WR when there are 7 to 8 impact WRs coming out every year? The steelers seem to be wise to this as they are drafting WR every year. Will they pay JuJu? Not if Dionte and Claypool blow up.

So, if David Johnson is healthy, trading Hopkins could be a long term win for Houston. If you believe Watson is a great QB, then he should still be productive without Hopkins. Houston’s OL should be good this year and they may be able to run and be more balanced.

The Chiefs drafted Clyde Edwards Helaire who is a perfect fit in the offense. When Damien Williams opted out of the season due to the China virus, it pretty much handed CEH the starting job.

on paper this should be a shootout, but who knows how sharp it will be without any preseason games.

Yeah, normally opening week is like grown up Christmas but this year the politics has crushed all my enthusiasm. I know I’m going to watch at least some just to see the atmosphere and such, but can’t say I’m excited at all.

Today I had the TV on in the office and HBO's inside the NFL came on. The title indicated NFL Opening Weekend preview.

I was thinking "AWESOME" lets see what they have to say about The Steelers!

I had to turn that crap off after being preached at for easily 20 minutes. It was liking watching the News.

Chris Collinsworth made the best statement. ‘I just want to call a football game’. Best thing he’s ever said during a game ever

It's not so much the politics for me as it is the pandemic putting things in perspective.

I usually watch a lot of baseball as well, but no so much this year.

I will give the NFL a year to get their minds right so I will watch the foozball this year. If this crap is still going on next year then I will evaluate my options.

Chiefs look like a well oiled machine already. Scary part is they are doing it w/o huge passing plays and their rookie RB looks explosive.

Maybe they will start using him right................

Salute the nation

Eh....just not feeling it. Maybe when the Steelers play but just not that excited.

Chiefs look really good tonight. And, theyve been doing a fairly good job to keep the focus on the game, better than I thought they would. Of course, I mute as soon as commercials come on.

I do like their offensive scheme.

The Chiefs looked good as expected and the Texans, well, were the Texans. Typical performance from that team.

KC got a perfect running back for that offense. CEH's gonna put up some monster numbers this year.

Hoping we come out with a similar game plan as the chiefs.
A little boring but effective,

Also, I think our D will be better than theirs.

NIce win though. Never in doubt.

Chiefs looked ready to play from down 1. Their execution improved with getting the top RB in the draft with the last pick in the 1st round. The rich got richer. This will be a tough out for the Steelers if they meet in the playoffs.

They will be a tough out for anyone. They played ball control offense and made it look easy and that style of O has been the Achilles heel of the steelers. I'm sure they can switch it up to quick strike offense if needed, but if they can score and keep their D off the field I can't see anyone beating them w/o the chiefs self imploding

some didn't see it in CEH and criticized the chiefs as reachers but yesterday he showed his talent in prime time

Surprised that Houston struggled so much to start the year. They definitely will miss Hopkins.

The parts I did see did not look sharp. It looked like preseason. Not that it was sloppy. It just wasn’t full speed. Players are not in shape and looked gassed.

Maybe Watson will get exposed this year without Hopkins. Or maybe it will force him to grow as a QB by not being locked in on 1 guy all the time. That may be the real reason they traded Hopkins. They had to take away his teddy bear so he can grow up.

yes, i was very impressed with Edwards-Helaire's side-to-side mobility, he has excellent balance, and power for someone his size.

As long as Mahomes stays healthy.
