Well, I agree, but you have to consider who will actually be making those picks.

Especially being short in the WR room.
Really wonder who has the strong hold with a new GM and assistant GM. If they are giving Tomlin the edge the team is in some real trouble. If they lean on the assistant GM I would think the draft will produce some pleasant surprises. I know they would say all things are equal but I call bullshit on that. I think it isn't so much after the board is created. But before and during you wonder who will have the ultimate say. This guy is round 2 worthy, other man says no he is round 3 worthy.
Read this as draft stimulator. All I know is our coaches are trying to stimulate our draft for sure.

I tried a few different simulators (no trades).
Pro Football Network
1.8 - Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia
-Going for a shutdown cornerback.
2.33 - Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia
-The Steelers tackles are weak and they need some real talent at the position. Trying to find of that second-round value at the position here.
2.38 - John Michael Schmitz
-The Steelers have also had strong play from the center position. I don't think this is a future Hall of Famer, but looking for the long-term option as Mason Cole keeps the seat warm.
3.69 - Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee
-Exploded onto the scene this year with 18.5 YPC and 15 touchdowns. This offense just needs some explosive players.

-I don't know if he'll have the size to play tackle in the NFL. At this point, I'm assuming he will and getting one of the top tackles in the draft.
2.34 - Garrett Williams, CB, Syracuse
-Good athlete and will step up against the run.
2.39 - Olumuyiwa Fashanu, OT, Penn State
-Too good of value to pass up. If one of these guys can't play the right side, maybe you kick Skoronski inside and Fashanu step in at left tackle. Bottom line is getting high pedigree players for the offensive line.

-Verstalile player who will kick inside for the Steelers.

Not high on Sewell I saw a few people liking him but he has been relatively quiet this season compared to last. Has he been hurt? Really liked your second draft did it only go to two rounds?I tried a few different simulators (no trades).

The Fanspeak board was just bad for that particular draft. I wasn't really that high on the second-round picks, but wanted to try something different.

If we get a top ten or five pick and the OT values don’t fly out of control, we would be idiotic not to trade down… unless there is an absolute no brainer franchise QB available and you need one, trading down is the way to go… now sometimes there aren’t any trade partners, but usually you get a haul and here is the trick, double up on positions of need… the draft is a crap shoot… even a high pick has a pretty high bust rate… we can get a really good prospect in the low teens or high 20’s… take a Ot in the first, get another in the second or third… best case we upgrade both sides… but even if one busts we have a decent chance with the other…
No way does the Steelers take two tackles high. Just too many needs. Can't draft on a fear of one busting. Just have to go BPA and maneuver to try to get as many needs addressed within that BPA pool. Now if they took say a C and T or a T and G early even that would make more sense. But Moore probably can be moved and still be affective somewhere other than C. So T could bring a good upgrade to the line. Perhaps Moore could take bigdots spot and a new LT could complete an upgrade. Regardless I don't see the club dipping too hard on the Oline despite our wants. You can almost bank on a D player early and perhaps a WR. I can't assume their strategy will stay the same under a new GM and assistant but some fresh ideas sure are welcomed.

Ojulari again is a stud pass rusher who is good vs the run. Too good of value to pass.
Forbes is a stud shutdown corner. He lacks your ideal run support ability as a corner but as a cover guy he might be the best in the draft.
Ika is a poor mans Jordan Davis. Bring him in on early downs and let him eat up some blocks.
LaPorta comes from a program that cranks out NFL tight ends and has comparable traits. Should fill the void of Gentry leaving.
Ainias Smith has suddenness and is quick twitch in short areas. Don’t think he has great long speed but neither did guys like Antonio Brown or Hines Ward.
Roschon was a 4 star recruit who was a high school QB. He has played well but when you have to share the backfield with Bijan Robinson it makes it tough to get carries. Reminds me of the Miles Sanders scenario. Good back just overshadowed. Johnson has fresh legs and high IQ as a former QB.
It is why I usually skip the trade routes, being less realistic. Knowing the FOs love affair with the value of a top ten pick I bet they are leaning on staying out. Unless they get an offer that is hard to refuse.

Although it's been discussed before, this is spot on Slash. We signed the guy from Philadelphia (Weidl) for a reason I hope. Most of us presume that Omar handles the finances and business decisions, Andy will handle the player evaluation and draft board. HCMT can be involved but Art has to realize, it neads to take a back seat.
By the way, we'll move up one pick in round two. The Dolphins forfeited their first round pick.
