The OL has played better since Cook replaced Jones. Tomlin was part of the decision to trade up to draft Jones which is looking like a mistake, so there’s that.
I liked the move up to grab him. How they handled him after the draft over the last few years is what I didn't/don't like. I doubt we pick up his option year. I actually hope they don't.The OL has played better since Cook replaced Jones. Tomlin was part of the decision to trade up to draft Jones which is looking like a mistake, so there’s that.
Again, maybe I am. So are you, though. Being unable to engage in a discussion without hurling insults because you aren't agreed with is a pretty good sign of narcissism. Your little temper tantrums and name calling...exhibit A.Yup you’re a narcissist this thread is exhibit A.
You pick at people just to be argumentative and make yourself sound smart, the funny thing is the more you do it the commical and desperate you really look….
I wonder what the biggest issue is with him? There has to be stuff we don't see.I still think Jones will improve . We’ll see…
A A Ron is the OL coach, OC and QB ask rolled up into one.I have often been accused of being a Tomlin apologist. But I have never tried to defend his record and have stated a number of times he shouldn't have this job due to the facts...his record. It is some of the narratives I object to. So with that in mind, two narratives that really bother me. One is that the performance of the team on the field is mostly due to the coaching. I object to that because I have a hard time understanding how guys who don't play are more responsible than the guys that do. The second is that the Steelers have bad coaches across the board. It goes hand in hand.
According to DK, PFF ranks the Steelers OL as the 8th best in the league. Williamson has said PFF isn't as bad a resource as a lot of people think. Anyway, those that think it is mostly coaches and the Steeler coaches stink, is Pat Meyer all of the sudden a good football coach? Is the improvement of the OL mostly due to Pat Meyer? If you say it is mostly coaches when they are playing poorly, doesn't it have to be the same when they are playing well?
The Jaguars go from 4-13 to 13-4 in one season with a new coach. What changed?? The roster-not significantly, then it was what??I will continue to pick if it means calling out the complete absurdity of this idea that a coach, or coaches, are more responsible for the results of a football game than the people that are actually on the field playing. It goes against everything you should have learned in sports growing up. It also defies logic.
It's glacially dumb to think that the guys that play are mostly responsible for the outcomes of games? Really? The guys that block, tackle, run, catch and pass? While the coaches are standing on the sideline? It's just common sense. I'm watching the Rams. In 3 years nobody has been able to cover Puka Nacua. Maybe some of that is coaching, but he isn't he just special, too? Trevor Lawrence seems to have grown up a bit and had his best year. The Jaguars go from 4-13 to 14-3 in one season with a new coach. This is one of the most galactically dumb things I’ve ever heard
Again just keep talking you look dumber with every post![]()
It’s so hilarious when you divert when you’ve lost an argument. It's glacially dumb to think that the guys that play are mostly responsible for the outcomes of games? Really? No one is saying coaches don't make a difference. Shiit, I was around when the Steelers hired Cowher. But there were some outstanding, self motivated players there, especially on defense, that certainly helped. Cowher didn't do it by himself.
Detroit lost coordinators and immediately missed the playoffs. Coaching matters. The Jaguars go from 4-13 to 13-4 in one season with a new coach. What changed?? The roster-not significantly, then it was what??

The players. They were out on the field playing, right? It’s so hilarious when you divert when you’ve lost an argument.
Let’s try again: the Jaguars go from 3-14 to to 14-3, in 1 year with a new coaching staff…to use your words: who is most or “more responsible” for that?
It does. Detroit also had injuries all over the roster. did that have anything to do with it?Detroit lost coordinators and immediately missed the playoffs. Coaching matters.
The players. They were out on the field playing, right?
Did Coen throw a pass, block or tackle anyone, catch or run?The same basic roster that went 3-14 is “more responsible” for that than the first year coach that took them to 14-3 the next season. Got it….
You’ve lost this argument, your ego can’t bring you to say it
Maybe you should start another thread about how butt hurt you are and try again![]()
Yep I was very high on Ben and you see what he did for the Bears. That is no coincidence. The right coaches makes the right on the field and off the field decisions…Detroit lost coordinators and immediately missed the playoffs. Coaching matters.

Tomlin hand picked Kenny Picke
Because it adds a little credibility to one's argument when they can acknowledge the 2 Super Bowls, the one win, the never having a losing season, the respect he has from his players and other team's players. When someone just trashes everything it actually hurts their case. He's a good coach, especially in close games. But unless he takes this team to the AFCCG, it's time to move on. I would have been fine for them to move on any of the past 2-3 years. And I wouldn't say he "badly failed." There's lots of teams that fail badly every year. The Steelers haven't finished in last place since the late 80's. I know what the goal is every year: WIN THE SUPER BOWL. But the reality is only one team does, and an MVP caliber QB is needed to do that. Who cares about winning a playoff game? Big deal! It just makes you a failure the next week when you get beat. Tomlin has had a great career. I give him credit. But just like Noll and Cowher, it's past time for a new leader. And the point of defending him on little things when he overall badly failed would be??
I know why Diver does it, how about you?
Classifying someone as a “Hater” is dumb and lazy, to me it says you’ve either been here 5 minutes, aren’t paying attention, or have no other real argument. Show us all the times someone has said they “hate” Mike Tomlin.
Saying he’s done a terrible job and he should be fired and hating the man personally are two very different things
Sure. I have never stated coaching doesn't matter. But until coaches get out there and play, there is no damn way they are more responsible for success or failure than the players. A coach can draw up the greatest play ever, but if the QB doesn't make the throw or the receiver drops it, all the sudden it doesn't look that great. This is just basic. Players have to buy into the system and culture. It seems like so much the players are looked at as lumps of clay as if they have no part in this. The reason the Steelers are what they are is a combination of coaching and play. In no way am I absolving Tomlin and staff. I would love to see what another coach would bring. They all just got 11 games better? Did the system change? Did the culture? The energy?

Then put your energy towards taking about than calling people haters-since you’ve got nothing to back up that statementBecause it adds a little credibility to one's argument when they can acknowledge the 2 Super Bowls, the one win, the never having a losing season, the respect he has from his players and other team's players. So they would have won 11 more games with the previous coach or just any dude off the street?Yes. Does Coen play?
Why don't you answer the question? Does Coen play?So they would have won 11 more games with the previous coach or just any dude off the street?
