Morgan burnett

Dear Lord.....it’s like having a conversation with a kid. Maybe that’s your excuse to why you are rather way you are.

If the plays aren’t coming to you you can’t have a statistic. I just explained Davis hasn’t been targeted, or rather challenged that much by QBs, because A) the coverage has been good, and B) the DL is doing a good job of rushing the passer.

“Other safeties are making plays on the ball Ike”...please, you want to compare the Rams and Texans defenses? Their schemes? Players? Tendencies?

They are all ranked near each other in the stats sheet, but they have different ways of being there.

You want to simplify the game as Lincoln Logs when it comes to player performances.

LOL, ripping a starting rookie for missed tackles....what’s his total compared to the league? You don’t have your whipping boy to slobber oon..

Trying to justify your boneheaded Polamalu opinion which defines you empirically.

Marcus Allen...has played no snaps. Yet you have proclaimed he can’t play......you have nothing to measure, but have already decided. He is an incomplete assessment. Are you just so blind by your own idiocy?

coach shut the **** up and get out of the thread. Go start another look at me topic. This thread is about Burnette and Edmunds and how they are used going forward.

Suck a fat dick.

Someone has really sensitive skin, might I suggest a new toner for you? Bleeder, our safeties are not very good as if you can't stand the heat of my facts, get out of this kitchen.

Please do play along in the game day thread. See you there.

Your pal, Coach

how I feel every time you open your gob on this board ,, and let your looneytoon brain control your fingers and type **** .

Your facts are imaginary. The actual fact is the safeties have been solid these past several games. Davis has settled in nicely at FS, and has brought Ryan Clark comparison by some. Edmunds is a rookie.....but has shown ability to make plays.

I saw a few times in the game, dime packages especially, Davis and Edmunds at the safety spots, and Burnett at the MLB spot.

Edmunds is a rookie thrust into a starting role since the vet we added has been hurt all year.

He's not infallable, but I love his athleticism. He can hit hard, he's not afraid to put his head down in the running game to make stops, and he has ball skills to deflect passes and get ints.

I see improvement game to game. He's still making mistakes, but I'm glad to see he's getting better and more comfortable each week.

Yes, I know Edmunds is a rookie. Yes, I know he's been starting. Obviously.

I would expect any safety drafted in the first round to be athletic and able to deliver hard hits, wouldn't you?

As far as his "ball skills," I have no clue what improvement you're seeing. Edmunds had another huge pass interference penalty against the Ravens (this one wasn't in the end zone, but covered 33 yards), never finding the ball. He has no idea when to look for the ball, and could have easily been flagged again later in the game when he contacted Edwards early and never turned around. The one INT he has wasn't a deflection, it was an overthrow from Fitzpatrick that hit him between the 3 and 4.

His tackling was better this week, I'll give you that.

Top seed comments are a vast over reach. I agree Cope. Much like Davis I'd prefer a rookie making mistakes at warp speed then a journeyman who is always a step behind. By the end of the year you have an experienced player with extra athleticism.

Edmunds is still taking horrendous angles -- it's a lot easier to miss less tackles when you aren't there to begin with. He still is being easily manhandled by downfield blockers. And his coverage skills still stink.

What, precisely, was a "vast over reach"?

And, on the contrary, I'd rather have the experienced veteran who knows what he's doing out there for 97% of the snaps, and bring the rookie in for some situational passing downs. That's why they brought Burnett to Pittsburgh in the first place -- to start.

Yes....the agenda is pushed.....

Guess what Genius, the Steelers safeties (Davis specifically since you bash him so much) have one of the least pass attempts/completions ratios. Why? Because they are not getting targeted because their coverage is so good. They are in the top 10 in deep pass attempts. With The DL pushing the QB well, and Haden and Hilton playing all-pro ball, Edmunds and Davis are doing what they are supposed to do, bracket in coverage and seal gaps between backers.

The last time they had a blown coverage for long gain was against Balt, with Brown and the wheel route mixing signals for Joe and Sutton.

They were giving up over 300 yards passing early when Joe and Hilton were out. But since they have been healthy, pass defense yards per game has dropped about 75-100 yards per game.

Another thing clueless, Hilton is going to have more opportunities for PDs and tackles, because of the position he plays. He’s in the middle of the field as a “starting” slot corner.

Tackling......proof you don’t watch games. Davis has more solo tackles than Joe or Hilton. Edmunds is only a couple behind Joe. I’m surprised you haven’t started your missed tackles rant.....but we know why it doesn’t support your agenda now.

Marcus Allen...... you opine him being terrible, yet he has played how many snaps to make that suggestion? Zero. This is why your “evaluations” are laughable. No objectivity only proclamations based on what you think is fact.

Hey, now, NFL Gamecenter says coach is correct. You know, because the basic *** stat sheet is the only basis for anything. The same stat sheet that shows the Tampa bay buccaneers with the #1 passing offense in football, but doesn’t show that they go down by 20+ points before halftime, and have a full half of football to chuck the football around.

Topseed, Burnett didn't look much better unfortunately.

Lest we also forget, the 1st round strong safety we traded up for in the draft didn't start his first year and also looked like crap at times. Edmunds has the tools, and will improve as he gets more comfortable. You can tell the game hasn't slowed down for him yet and he's doing too much. Davis on the other hand, the game has slowed down and he's crashing down on 5yd passes like he's still a SS as well.

Improvement comes with experience.

More like Morgan Burnt out there. Him and Burns are going to start a Burnt End group if they don't get their **** together.

Burnett didn’t impress against the rats, but the plays in which he defended were usually perfectly placed, and just not much he could do to prevent it. He also was hosed on a PI call, and I’ll chalk it up to his first game back. We’ll see how he fares this Thursday.

Burnett will be fine. He's a proven NFL commodity. But he also needs to get the reps after his injury -- he's a first-year Steeler, too.

I know you want Edmunds to be the next Troy Polamalu, and I know it's early, but it's kind of hard for me to envision the guy as a future NFL defensive player of the year.

Some of yinz sigh.

I won't claim big improvement, but there is baby steps. And that is welcomed.

coach using PDs as a measuring stick might be the most misleading statistic out there. If they are targeting because you are giving up TDs and yardage, you will tend to have more PDs.

As usual you have several knee jerk opinions, when the truth of it all falls somewhere in-between extremes.

But they still have measuring sticks ahead. Chargers, Saints, and Patriots will test that improvement. On just how much...

I just like his skill set. I'm far from crowning him as a potential HOFer, but I'd be happy if he made a few pro bowls in his career. That's the most we can ask from a first round pick.

Pack safety Whitehead, waived. So last year they get rid of burnett, they they trade haha Clinton Dix,. Now the waive this Whitehead guy. Wonder wtf is going on over there. They don't waste time kicking people.

When you have a great defense like them, you can afford to do that stuff...
