Minkah Fitzpatrick

Not Fitz's job to coach up anyone. It is our clueless coaches jobs.
I thought Edmunds had one of his better games yesterday. Only mistake I noticed was he went for the interception on one of their long completions when he likely would have knocked the ball out if he
went for the tackle. Funny thing is Fitzpatrick might be the one that coaches him up to make him a decent player.

Bright spot on the defense. He and Watt are playmakers and difference makers. The fact he followed the ball on that tip and had the quick hands to snag it reminded me just a little of #43. I’m hoping for a 7-9 season and to not give Miami a top 10 pick but so far I’m ok with the trade.

I would be more concerned about us losing more games and giving them a top 5 pick. That's the way we are trending.

Unless this guy turns out to be Troy, no safety is worth a top 10 pick.

I think the trade was a mistake and I'll stick to that for now. He did make an immediate impact at a position of need but it also leaves a hole for us going into the draft next year.

This trade isn't going to be decided by this year or even next year. It will be decided over the next 3 or so years. The problem is he is always going to be compared to every player that could have been drafted in the 1st of next years draft. Not sure that is fair but that's what is going to happen.

Very good player...very bad trade...That is the kind of trade you make if you need a final piece to make a legit deep playoff run. That is not the kind of trade you make a 0-2 just having lost your starting QB for the season.

He seemed more engaged and was talking up the secondary more than anyone on the team.

They are betting on Rudolph that is the first round grade QB that they saw and Ben comes back. I do agree with what you are saying, though.

I liked his presence yesterday. He had very good awareness and a layer smart when the play was near him. Can’t wait to see how much better he plays when he’s more comfortable with this defense. I liked the pairing of Fitz and Edmunds. Fitz ain’t no Troy. But he’s a vast improvement over Mike Mitchell or Sean Davis.

Edmunds is consistently a half second late from making a big play. Some said he was a fourth round talent drafted in the first round, I’m thinking they’re right.

He’s not a rookie anymore and mis times things. Very questionable first round pick. Some mentioned that on draft day.

I'd rather have a known, really good Safety this year, than have Tomlin pick Jarvis II, or Artie II next year. Especially if we have a new coach next year.

Minkah was a great pickup. As long as we are not going anywhere this year, I really hope the blow out Mark Barron and put Gilbert in to get him some quality reps... also, Justin Layne should see the field at some point as well hopefully. I’m hoping we can bounce back next year with an improved, cohesive defense and maybe a couple more Receivers from the draft...

He's instantly the best player in the secondary, I like the way he plays.

Now we just need 2 starting CBs, a couple more starting quality DL and a couple more LBs and they can start putting together a better defense

I'd give them 3 more drafts at 3-13 for that, lol, we on a 5 year plan

By that time the offense will be retired and the other defenders will be gone as well.

I wouldn't care if they miss out on a defender. He is a top ten defender in a lot of draft years. If a clear QB pick is there and they miss out. That would set back the franchise for a long time. This team has not drafted high very often.

Can this staff develop a high draft pick into a franchise QB?

No amount of drafts can fix Tomlin's ****** up defense. It's been in a steady decline since he took over.

Davis' injury dictated a signing and Kelly wasn't showing capable. It is the kind of trade needed anytime you lose a player and don't have an adequate replacement. We can debate that they shouldn't have given up a 1 for him. or bad decisions dictated the trade. But the lolphins picked him 11, that is pretty high up and when you are in the business in trying to win games you have to make hard decisions. Plenty of bad decisions made by this team, not so sure this was one of them. I get Ben was injured but we should never wish losses because things aren't going as planned.

This ^^^

Edmunds is always near the ball. Not knocking the ball down, or defending the pass, or picking it off, but damn - he is near the ball.

That and $4 will get you a latte at Starbucks.
