They wanted
both of them.
ILB was a huge need and both Vander Esch and Evans had first round grades.
The failure to trade up and acquire Evans was only more visible to the media.
What I don't understand is this. Okay, maybe it cost too much to trade up a few spots in round one, but Leonard and Baker were there for us....and we passed. Both rookies are the real deal.
Edmunds looks okay once he's sees where the ball is going. His instincts and tackling to me need some work. Washington, I'm concerned. He can't even get a hat these days. I fail to see this potential in Okorafor.
It takes at least two years to judge, but I would have went with:
1 ) S Reid - Excellent ball skills and speed as scouted here. He has pro bowl upside.

2 ) ILB Baker - A very speedy ILB, the type that I needed these days. Once he figures it out, he can be a very good player.

3 ) DT/NT Phillips. Making his share of plays as a backup. Stuck on the Bills.

3B ) QB Rudolph - The Steelers picked him. I'm not sold on his arm, I think he needs to work to get a little stronger.
As chronicled I would have tried to get Bell to sign his tender and trade him prior to the draft, giving the Steelers 14.5 million in cap space to be spent elsewhere.
