Midseason review Rashaan Evans vs Leighton Vander Esch

I agree. They’re trying to use him as a football player. ;)

I wanted Vander Esche. Glad he went early and it wasn't a one pick earlier or passed on him. I'm happy with Edmunds.

It's still too early to make a call either way but I did want Vander Esch in the draft. But, even with him, we would have had to trade up.

I think it is still way too early to know anything on either player.

Evans needs a better hot tub.

Vander Esch can ball. The Steelers tried to trade up for him. At the very least this shows the scouting staff was right about him.

So was I.

Never proven, but keep saying it.

Doesn’t matter, he doesn’t believe anything that doesn’t come out of his own mouth.

Too bad we weren’t higher on Darius Leonard, because he was on the board when we picked and he’s the best LB’erIve seen in a while

They wanted both of them. ILB was a huge need and both Vander Esch and Evans had first round grades.

The failure to trade up and acquire Evans was only more visible to the media.

What I don't understand is this. Okay, maybe it cost too much to trade up a few spots in round one, but Leonard and Baker were there for us....and we passed. Both rookies are the real deal.

Edmunds looks okay once he's sees where the ball is going. His instincts and tackling to me need some work. Washington, I'm concerned. He can't even get a hat these days. I fail to see this potential in Okorafor.

It takes at least two years to judge, but I would have went with:

1 ) S Reid - Excellent ball skills and speed as scouted here. He has pro bowl upside.

2 ) ILB Baker - A very speedy ILB, the type that I needed these days. Once he figures it out, he can be a very good player.

3 ) DT/NT Phillips. Making his share of plays as a backup. Stuck on the Bills.

3B ) QB Rudolph - The Steelers picked him. I'm not sold on his arm, I think he needs to work to get a little stronger.

As chronicled I would have tried to get Bell to sign his tender and trade him prior to the draft, giving the Steelers 14.5 million in cap space to be spent elsewhere.

Good try coach just because you think it, doesn't make it fact.

He was the guy I wanted in round one. Colbert tried to trade up, but I never saw his offer.

Once he was off the board I really liked Reid in round one. He looks excellent as rookie.

You just been informed three times the trade up known and acknowledged was for Evans. Titans picked him at 22 before the Steelers could get find a willing partner.

Until you show us a link where LVE was a target for the move up, it’s hearsay on your part. So stop trying to make us believe it happened. It didn’t.

Smith is who they wanted, but they knew he was unattainable. Tench and Labriola talked about it after the draft.

But did they talk about Reid? Seriously, that's what we all want to know. Where a 3rd rounder went in the draft...

I would say that LVE's early success just says something about the people who wanted him and the people who **** on the pick. I liked the work ethic, the small town guy and the production in albeit small college. A lot of people here and other "Draft Experts" nitpicked some things on him. That said, the Steelers couldn't have traded up for him, I'm glad they didn't and I'm satisfied with the guy they got. Edmunds is a day one starter. Some bumps here and there, but the trajectory seems up. Burnett has had a rocky start, if he can get his game going (better last week) they could have some serious matchup packages. Burnett is a big ****** dude. He could maybe draw Gronk.
