Maybe they ink Robinson today?

it was addressed: Worilds and Jarvis Jones both high picks, they just chose wrong

To be fair to Jarvis, both of the OLB selected before him have sucked too ..Mingo and Jordan. To be realistic, it's now or never for Mr. Jones. Hope it's now.

the thing is I still have faith on JJ, if he can become an 8 sacks per season OLB I'll be more than glad with him

The reverse can be true, have better CB's and the OLB's get to the QB more often.
Say we had better CB's in 2014 and Worilds raises his sack total by just 3. 10.5 sacks
wouldn't look so bad.

Jarvis has 3 sacks all time, I'm not as sold on him as you are. I have also not been very impressed with his play in general. I hope I am wrong and you are right but he is not looking good to me. I suspect we will be needing to spend more picks on outside backers or change the scheme in a big way and adjust the players we have to play in the 4-3. Right now the most powerful guy we might have is unsigned but working out at the facility.

If only the need at LB had been anticipated in the past couple drafts....

Yeah I hear ya but also last year's class of CB's was real deep as well and we ending up with Richardson in the 5th which I don't think was on anyone's list here and where is he now....not on our roster. Bad drafting all around and bad decision making as well, but man when they hit on a pick they sure the hell nail it.

People seem to forget. This is a passing league now. You can't put too much stock on rushing the QB as much as you could at one time, but yes you still need to apply pressure. I don't know how many times I have seen our CB's/DB's/Safety get ripped apart with quick throws. Third down and 20 and still get a first. It doesn't matter how fast you get to the QB our pass coverage has been one big let down.

The last year Lewis played for us I said finally our pass coverage is something to look forward too. Even Cortez was playing all right, but nope. They let Lewis go give Cortez the money Lewis should have gotten,, and bring in useless plugs to fill in holes, and we are back to square one again. They let Clark go to bring in some one worse. You were better off keeping him not that I was thrilled about Clark. Always looking for the big hit instead of trying to pick off a ball.

Troy clearly went for a dump all in one year. This could be our worst year yet in pass coverage and maybe pass rush the way things are turning out. It's all business, as long as teams and players make money they are happy. I don't know if its so much about winning anymore.

They're now bringing Sterling Moore. Anyone have anything on him outside NFL.com stats? Appears to be a back up type of pro.

Robinson on his way out without a deal signed.

Well outside of these two I am not sure there is anyone left worth signing, am I wrong does someone have a guy that is left that might help us? If not I think now we go into the draft with a very strong chance of us drafting 2 CB's and 2 OLB's cause we are hurting at these positions. 4 out of 7 picks on 2 positions not many options huh, am I wrong for thinking like this, thoughts???

You could be right...but, I guess the bed was made years ago - now we have to lay in it...

Chargers signed CB Patrick Robinson, formerly of the Saints, to a one-year, $2 million contract.
Robinson, the No. 32 overall pick in 2010, has had about as up-and-down a career possible, getting benched repeatedly but also flashing the ability that made him a first-rounder. In San Diego, Robinson should get the first crack as the outside corner opposite Jason Verrett in nickel packages with Brandon Flowers manning the slot. Verrett and Flowers are the starters in base defense.

well, there goes another one. Hope Cortez Allen really steps up or we are toast

That leaves Sterling Moore left. Oh well! Next!

Robinson has signed with SD. One year 3 mil.

So 2 mil or 3 mil??? Why didn't we offer that??? I'm going to play golf now.

They could have had a vet CB for just 2 Mill. Unless he fails a physical, why would they not sign him for that? What the hell are they looking for, are they expecting a pro bowler to accept league minimum?

William Gay is right now the best secondary player. Let that sink in. Mitchell was terrible last year. Shamarko is unknown. Cortez has some sort of nervous breakdown.

I have a bad feeling the Steelers will once again wait to draft CB, and they will settle for the DB equivalent of Can Thomas as a free agent and then they'll tell us how the secondary is fixed.

Robinson, it is reported, signed a 1yr deal w 1.25mil guaranteed and a 1mil signing bonus with incentives which could make it a 3mil/1yr contract.

In the meantime, Bradley Fletcher and Tarell Brown both visited the Pats Tuesday with Fletcher walking away w a one year (up to) 2.5mil contract. Fletcher was the worst of the 2 so this means Brown will want at least more than what was offered Fletcher, IMO.

If we really want a vet with experience, I would see signing Brown to a 2-3 year deal w incentives for playing time. Might be able to get a 3yr deal for 6 mil with incentives that could make it worth up to 10.

This would give us a bit of solace with the prospect of losing Gay next year as well as a short-term solution IF Cortez cannot get his mojo back.

Does anybody her think that Robinson got overpayed? I just don't get why the team didn't offer him something in that ballpark, I mean 1 million more than what what they payed smurf Blake, also Robinson comes with starter experience. Shaking my head...

This is how we ended up with Adams and Gilbert. Drafting out of desperate need. Not because they were the best player available.
They really need to start hitting in these drafts if they ever plan to recover some good depth and get out of this drafting by desperation to fill a position.
