Maybe Art 2 is becoming the problem also. You can't tell me he doesn't know what's going on in his house.
Looks like Tomlin was running the defense:

I read those same sites and many more. I guess I just never realized - or read between the lines enough - that Tomlin had this time of imprint on the D. Maybe I'm getting old.I have read that numerous times over the years Butler has been here and mainly from the PG as I read it every morning online. I also read the Tribune sports and any other local Steelers stuff I can find.
I stand corrected and owe everyone an apology. Past few days I've been arguing this is Butler's scheme and he's the one running things on D. Looks like I've been totally wrong on everything I thought I knew about Tomlin, Butler and the D.
If all this is true then we really are entering a do or die phase with Tomlin. If he is this integrated with the defensive schemes and coaching, then Butler is just a figurehead, a cardboard cut-out masquerading as the defensive coordinator.
Well then Tomlin should come out and own that. Be a man. Say this is your D. That you're devising and coordinating the whole defensive scheme and Butler's there just to send the signals in. Why the need for the smoke and mirrors act? Own up to it, good or bad.
Damn, wierd times in the 'Burgh, that's for sure.
No way, Butler is an aggressive DC, just listen to his interviews when he was hired. He would never have their best pass rusher drop into coverage 75% of his snaps. He would come after young no name guys, not sit back and play it safe. Not sure why it is one or the either. I still think It is Butler's D with Tomlin doing what he wants when he wants. I would still say it is Butler's, just now we know Tomlin did his best to put his stamp on it as well. Which in this case two brains isn't better than one.
Even if this is marginally true, it explains a lot, and Tomlin should be done.
So Tomlin should have been let go, and Munch promoted to HC, and Todd and Keith left alone to run their schemes.

So, why even have Butler on the staff?
The nfl is shoveling us a false pretext and now we have a COACH doing the same..............****
Salute the nation
It looks like Bouchette had a long discussion with the Toddster last night. How else would this info be leaked out?
This goes back to the end of Lebeau's career here to, there were rumblings then. And Butler's defense never looked like his from the time he took over.Tomlin is such a fraud as a coach.
Not only do we recently find out the extent to which his leadership is lacking, as we're also leaning that he was basically running the defense that was torched this season by the likes of Jacoby Brissett, Brett Hundley, Deshone Kizer and Blake Bortles.
While we're at it, it was pure genius to leave Sean Davis by himself against Rob Gronkowski for an entire game
Seriously, the Steelers are not getting back to the Super Bowl with Tomlin as coach. It just isn't happening.
How much is poor coaching and how much is poor talent-free draft picks is hard to say.

I don't know, maybe he was told he'd have control. So why would Butler take this job? He was offered other DC jobs. Why take the one where Tomlin handcuffs him? After seeing Tomlin handcuff Dick? Just fire all the ******* coaches and be done with it.
