Looks like Troy and Mason could permanently move to the left side + other Steelers news 5/20

Sorry I didn't see this.

I started a similar post with different source.

Even if healthy by the start of the season, Broderick really has an up hill climb. If Fautanu is going to stay at LT and it seems it’s going in that direction, and with Jones’s prior struggles at RT, I think he has a hard time starting over Cook or Iheanachor.

Like the way Daylen is getting tested early and the staff’s willingness to shuffle the deck to get the aces in their places on the OL.

Gotta love every report I’m hearing about Bernard, he is the anti-Lemon. He could easily become a fan favorite as he abuses opponents’ slot corners and/or 3rd CBs.

Should be fun to see some of the competitions unfold in the preseason.

Jones may be the one needing to move inside when he comes back. Maybe, just maybe, he's not cut out to be a T in the NFL, but he may be pretty good moving inside.

So I wouldnt read too much into the moving around yet. Moves in otas don't often translate to the regular season. They can, but staffs.. particularly new staffs, tend to experiment to see who is strongest where before proper camp practices start..

I think they are just looking at what their best options are for everyone.. not just forcing them into a position... which is a great thing...

Normally but the Broderick ongoing situation changes the grand scheme of things . I think you will see a different starting 4 positionally .

Normally....sure. But Mccarthy said he wanted to get the left side stabilized immediately, and that's why the changes were made.

troy was a natural lt at washington thier heavy pass attack led by penix when they lost the bcs game to michigan, can move him to LT and if Jones will miss time it gives Dunker a inside on starting at LG and perhaps jones can compete at LG.

The issue with him at LT is that he doesnt have optimal size and length for LT... sometimes that doesnt matter, but every draft guru thought he was gonna be a guard or RT at most...
i think its a good thing they are looking at him at LT, but as others have said, its otas, and stuff they do here is often just informational experimentation that the media overanalyzes.. they need to figure out everyones best spot so the line gets as much time as possible to gel

We have two quick footed OTs, with Max been the heavier one while also Troy is the better pass protector, even if his length ain't ideal his quickness makes up for it so it makes sense to have him on the left side.

I think it will be pretty hard to displaced Mason McCormick. He did pretty good last season as a rookie and this should be a step up year for him. He has the nastiness we need and showed it.

It will take camp to sort out, but I also think MM was serious on the move of Troy & Mason to the left side.

That would mean that someone would have to beat them out of their job.

Both indicated how happy they were to be moving over and I’m sure that translates into they will give anyone and all a hella fight to retain their jobs.

Competition is a grand thing and I have more confidence in this being a legitimate deal than what it would have been with the previous coaching staff.
