So far we have Schefter speculating that Bell could sit out half the season and Rapoport RTing a Steelers Shop jersey sale that has Ben, AB, and JuJu jerseys like that has anything to do with the contract situation. These are the top guys in the business...
 
This is most likely coming down to guaranteed money where Bell wants as much of the contract guaranteed as he can get. Steelers don't guarantee more than the first year so this will end in no contract. I do not think he will sit half the season and forfeit 7 million dollars either. That would be totally ridiculous and would concern me if this guy has all his marbles.
 
I hope he does sit out half the year and Samuels and Connor play excellent during that period. Bell will see his value drop significantly. He may very well get his $14.5 million per year, every year guaranteed. He just isn't getting it in Pittsburgh. I would be stunned if they get a deal done today.

Bell is a selfish man, and decisional about his own value. I think he’s over paid at 14.5 million dollars.

I doubt he would sit out half the season. Except Bell to hold out through much of camp, when he should be in there picking up the plays of our new OC.
 
Bell will be a franchise tag player by 4 pm. He will not come to camp (within his right and somewhat understandable). He will play in September (I will take his word on that). Hopefully they reduce his role in some situations to see what they have on the roster. And then move his 14 million dollars elsewhere next year. Good luck to you Mr. Bell!
 
Jaylen Samuels. Exciting stuff. He’s sitting around right now waiting to see how his potential role will evolve come 4pm. I can only imagine his attitude about getting the ball more. “Wherever, whenever, just get me the ball coach”.

If he cares about his team, he signs the deal before camp, not after. Coming in rusty did not help last year.

My fear is, what if they don't? It could be disastrous and really impact a lot for the season and playoffs. If he signs the $14,5M tag and plays a half a season, hope he is prepared for the shitstorm that will follow from the fans and media.

If he does, I’m sure he won’t be considered a steeler by majority. I personally will put his jersey in a box, in the attic right next to his boy Mike Wallace, and he will forever collect dust.

Jaylen Samuels, he ain't the answer. We will be drafting another RB next year to back up Conner or to start over him.
 
No way in hell Bell misses games and loses out on money. You seriously need to get that notion out of your head.

It is either new contract or play out on the tag, but no games will be missed outside of a unforeseen injury.
 
Bell won't let the money go and he will not be game ready as usual. Let the bum hit the road next year.
 
If he sits out 8 game for all but $7mill. He might as well sign for the contract the Steelers offered then. That is all but $2 mill a year for a 4 year contract he would be willing to give up. No way he holds out.
 
It's a contract year, he wants the best stats possible to warrant a 15+M contract. The only way he gets close to that is if he plays this season.

Nothing in his effort last year makes me believe he will jake it or do anything against the team. He wont be at camp because he is rolling the dice. He accepts he could get hurt playing but he doesnt want to be injured in camp.
 
I can't wait until Bellgate is over, for better or worse. Tired of hearing about him and the tag.

He should be in camp. This is a 13-3 football team with a new OC. Bell being out of camp hurts his own early regular game production ( and market value as a free agent ) , and shows other NFL teams how he views himself.

When does the slashing start on Bell Jersey's? 4:00PM Eastern is my guess!

The Steelers should have dealt this talented but bad apple prior to the draft. Now they are stuck in a bad marriage for a year that will likely end in divorce.

I think you are a passionate fan who is oversimplifying things. In the end these guys are all private contractors. He may have positive feelings for his team mates and coach. I dont know. But he will look out for himself. I like Bettis, think he is making a career mistake but we shall see. However, the Steelers could not deal him unless they had his name on a contract even if it was the franchise tag so your deal him before the draft really was not an option.

Under the franchise tag bell can sit out NINE games and still collect ALL of his 14.5 million. Now let that sink in
 
I dont think you are correct. I believe it would be 14.5 divided by 16. Whatever point he shows before half the season he would get.
