Le’Veon Bell: Greedy or Misunderstood?

They don't see his injury issues as career threatening.

But don't think they don't weigh in on that assessing the contracts

And who knows that could be a factor in why they aren't inching closer to his demands..

Who knows

His actions tell me he wants to test free agency. Last year he wanted 15 and they couldn't come to an agreement. This year the Steelers offer 15, and he says 17. Doesn't appear he wants to sign.

They haven't inches closer to his demands because they are ******* ridiculous.
If he wants to be far and away the highest paid RB, then he needs to be far and away the best RB in the game and he definitely is not

Seriously though. I wonder why he stopped his salary demand at $17 mill a year.....Why not $20 mill...more?

I think 35 million a season would be more fitting. Say for 8 years 100% guaranteed, a private jet like Goodell. And a box of Twinkies. That should do it.

Some here don't see it that way....... If he seriously gets double plus.......... He best win rushing title and everything else available to a RB.and I don't see that as a maybe because if he falls short of that,.......COMPLETE failure for the pay.

If the case, just best to move on.
Team needs to be focused on football come training camp.

Cannot and don't need the distractions.
Sucks to lose a talent in Bell, but the backs for the season should be capable of carries.

Bell's offer for a running back was more than fair , now he is wanting more greed all the way. His social media activity shows his lack of respect for the Steelers organization, players and fans which we all know means little to him. When he starts the crap of he will apply at Dairy Queen tells me his character as a person, I would care less if he is let go or goes to Dairy Queen.

I dont disagree with that either. Most players of that skill level have egos as big as houses. And it is about resetting the RB market. There are other positions looking to reset things also. Football is headed into a strike soon IMO. Alot of issues to worked out..

If the players association votes to go on strike any time soon they are morons. The NFL is at a precipice of losing even larger chunks of fan support right now as it is. I mean what do you think this “penalties for not standing during the anthem” stuff is all about? It’s about the 10% drop in business and a blatant plea from the league to stem the tide of people walking away. A lengthy player strike might be just the thing to put the final nail in the league’s coffin financially.

I don't think a strike would be the final nail in the coffin for professional football, but for those old enough to remember this happening in baseball, it could turn the NFL into MLB.

So I would think that would be a chip on the players side of negotiations. The owners must see this also.

Because thats where Antonio is and im comfortable saying he is just as valuable or important to our offense as Brown..

I do not agree with this at all. Brown is way more valuable especially in when the pressure is on. He has made several amazing plays in very crucial situations. Bell has made one clutch catch that I can recall. I personally think the steelers are insane for even offering him 14-15 mill. He can easily be replaced with 1-2 other good backs. My max would be like 11 mil which is still 3 million more than the next highest RB. Another big concern is his commitment. If he gets a huge contract is he really going to give it his all for those years? Plus physically he has been abused both in college and the NFL. Along with the crazy workload he has had significant injuries. I would just cut my ties as soon as possible and move on.

Bell has been the one of the top, if not the top back in the league since he entered. Steelers got him for about a million a year the 1st 4 years. And if you add last year, Seelers have had the best back in the league for an average of 3.2m per year, a steal. Going forward he deserves to recoup some of that money, I would like to see some kind of deal that would pay him 9-11 mil base plus incentives that could take him to his demand of 17m. But then again, I don't get into studying how contracts work

In the regular season... he really hasn’t done much in the playoffs.

Fourn

Except for the 167 against Miami
and 170 the next week against K.C?

Is that you idea of not much?

Football needs a stat like baseballs WAR wins above replacement. I think the Steelers could spend the 17 million that Bell wants on other
offensive players and exceed his productivity and risk-level.

Most fan's feel athletes are overpaid and its reaching a point of absurdity.** What Bell is asking for*( 17 million ) *is probably more than the Steelers payroll for a given year in the 1970's.

Don't get me wrong, I think the NFL minimum salary for backups is fair in 2018, but some of these guys making 10+ million a year are clearly overpaid and bitching about their contracts.* Others have off the field issues.

When you factor in these take a*knee guys making millions*and social media jabs by the players at their teams,*I think many fans are close to reaching a boiling point.

This post makes no sense..

If the sport is generating the money whether thru ticket sales concessions stands merchandise television contracts etc etc. the players should receive their fair share of it.

Salary Cap negotiated by the NFLPA and the NFL league. The part not negotiated is how much each player gets per position / experience / ability / etc......................................

Exactly so there is a cap set. What are fans upset about??

This post demonstrates a lack of basic understanding of the economics of the game. What fans "think" players should be paid is the least relevant data point in any discussions about player salaries. The league makes what it makes, and the owner/player split is collectively bargained. And individually, teams and players negotiate. It's revenue generated because of such high interest from US the fans who make the league worth what it is

could care less about Bell, Brown....they don't care about winning, it's about coin. Not sure any one cares about winning anymore. oh well. When is the next Draft Day party!?

how many baby mommas does Bell have? Know Brown has a few. Maybe that is where Bell is coming from?>

This team seems to be more concerned with their social media than being a winner. Bell is getting old fast and now Brown starts the inner turmoil, Do we believe we will be a Super Bowl winner again when the players seem to be more concerned with the me attitude.

Its a me me era....especially with this team. It is what it is. Hopefully we can squeeze out at least one SB team from them. Anymore though I have my doubts. I hope they prove me WRONG.

I hear exactly what you are saying and our authoritive figures are not disciplining anyone. With the talent on this team we should have been in 1 if not 2 SBs. The coach / coaching staff / players / have all underachieved and I think it is the ME ME me me me me as the root cause. Here's to stepping it up a notch and getting that SB win we so desperately desire.

Hey if he wants all that money because he says he's the best back and 2nd best receiver on the team give him a 10 million guaranteed contract. Then load it with 7 million in performance based payments. There is the 17 million he wants because he keeps saying hes so great so now prove it, and get all the you want!!!
