Le’Veon Bell: Greedy or Misunderstood?

when you turn down almost 2x the next highest paid person at your position its pure greed. The Steelers contract would have reset the RB position which Bell claims he wants to do but obviously that's not the case.

How long is APs contact factored into the franchise tag?

Last year was it but because we tagged him last year the CBA dictates we have to pay 120% (if memory serves) for 2nd tag thus the increase. BELL lucked out in that respects of pay due to AP contract.

It is amazing how bad he is and how good he thinks he is. Crazy actually.

Definitely greedy AF

Should drug test him again for thinking he's going to reset the RB market doubling the ceiling

His ludicrous demands turning down the offer the Steelers never should have gave may actually save us from an impending cap hell, he can be replaced without much dropoff at a fraction of the cost.

Greedy and stupid

I get that Coryea but I was just explaining why we are paying more even with AP's contract off the books. The STEELERS have MORE than offered him a fair contract yet he parades around thinking we aren't there yet. It's all ok as I hope he actually participates and goes hard thius coming season then he can go "RAP" somewhere else. Is he good at what he does.....YES.....but not as good as he thinks in his head as opposed to the job the RB plays in the NFL. The position just isn't slated for twice + the money. At 14.2-15mil would have set the presidence and upped the RB $$$$$ position but now he is greedy and selfish.

For those of you saying he is greedy I ask you this.
How would you feel if you were
1. The best person in the world at your job.
2. The most productive person in history at your job statistically (total yards per game)
3. The second best at someone else's job, in which you get zero added compensation

Imagine having credentials like this,

Then you hear about a guy who is guaranteed more money than you have made in your ENTIRE CAREER. (Barkley) Before his first day on the Job.
How would you feel?

Sorry but catching the ball (#3)is part of his job as a RB. And no. I don't feel sorry for the guy. After this season if/when he signs his tender he will have pocketed over $26 mill alone.

The STEELERS offered him near double the next guys wages....................yet he turned it down. AND how is Barkley guaranteed more money than BELL?????????????
From the beginning of time.....RBs have caught passes out of the backfield, YES the NFL has evolved into a passing league.

Who cares if Bark makes more guaranteed money? That doesn't paint the whole picture.

Some of yinz keep trying to find excuses for Bell's ridiculous demands.

But trying to redefine the position monetarily isn't being reasonable.

But he turned down really great offers that would have paid him appropriately. He just wants more. Stop trying to set the baseline at him generally being "underpaid". I think we all agree he would be a great bargain at the rate of the current highest paid RBs. That's why the Steelers offered him like $7m MORE THAN THAT per year, and he spit in their faces.

And Barkley will be just as productive if not more so than Bell catching passes out of the backfield as well

I wonder why Bell hasn't asked for some money for his great blocking skills. He didn't give up a sack last year...that has to be worth about 5 or 6 mill extra a year. Hell maybe more. Thank goodness his lone pass in his career went incomplete or maybe he could ask for a few dollars for that also.

Oh **** I hope he doesn't read this site. His asking price just went up 5 mil.

Seriously though. I wonder why he stopped his salary demand at $17 mill a year.....Why not $20 mill...more?

Because thats where Antonio is and im comfortable saying he is just as valuable or important to our offense as Brown..

So this isnt about resetting the RB salary scale....it is about ego and always has been about ego.

I dont disagree with that either. Most players of that skill level have egos as big as houses. And it is about resetting the RB market. There are other positions looking to reset things also. Football is headed into a strike soon IMO. Alot of issues to worked out..

I disagree.

Brown has started 15 more regular season games than Bell over the length of Bell's career and 6 more playoff games.

He's also scored 17 more regular season TD's.

A lot of their other stats are fairly similar but in my opinion the major difference is Brown has been much more dependable during this time period.

Oh and....... GREEDY!

I dont count games missed by injury. Thats just me. Football is a violent game. If you havent been injured youve been lucky.

The suspensions totally on him.

We are a pass first team so im not surprised Brown has more tds when you also consider time missed but Bell touched the ball on 38 percent of the Steelers’ plays last season and produced 32 percent of their yards. He finished third in the NFL with 1,291 rushing yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games and had a career-best 85 catches for 655 yards and two touchdowns.

He is just as valuable. That being said he can get his 17 million from another team if the steelers dont pay. I like the combo of Samuels and Connor i think they can duplicate some of the things Bells does running and catching..but i stilll worry about Pass Pro.

You can't be as valuable to the team if you are in the hot tub.

You might not count games missed to injury as significant. But I am sure the majority of others do..

Yeah thats true but as long as isnt an injury from being out of shape and lazy somethings cant be avoided.. especially playing football. I dont think the steelers Franchise Bell twice if they thought he was injury prone..

They don't see his injury issues as career threatening.

But don't think they don't weigh in on that assessing the contracts

And who knows that could be a factor in why they aren't inching closer to his demands..
