i keep hearing all these so called analysts talking about Jackson as if he's some hall of famer. Does these people even watch games? He lit up Miami. Big deal. Then he had a big game vs Arizona. Again, why should i be impressed? We may as well start the Mason Rudolph HOF campaigning because he looked good vs the bengals.

But then they played KC and Cleveland. Two good teams and Jackson was ****. He put up some 4th quarter garbage time stats to make it look decent on paper but in both losses he was terrible.

Stop his runs and take away his first read and he's terrible.

The question is whether the steelers defense can stay disciplined and not take the cheese on all the play fakes and give LJ the easy reads he needs.

Way overrated! He won’t last after continuous hits that these run first QBs take. They think they can still play like they did in college.
Now young Mason is who media should be talking about. Hell, the guy comes in cold against a good Seattle team and tosses a couple scores and should have won that game. Damn Moncrief!
Then he starts his first game on the west coast against a pretty good Niners team, tosses two more TDS and again should have won. Connor fumbles at a critical time.
Then against the Bungles who aren’t that good, on MNF plays a very nice game and records his first win. Like Ben said, Mason didn’t just manage the game, he won the game.
Where’s the kudos for Mason instead of bug eye Jackson?

LJ looks good only when the defense "takes the cheese on the playfake". Hey, he is good at play fakes, but if the defense doesn't bite he has difficulty. Will our defense bite on the cheese?

Stop the run and we win.. it’s not much more complicated than that.

we have the speed to counter his roll outs and pump fakes we just need haden and Nelson to not bite and hopefully watt or Barron can cover Andrews and this is the type of game to run 3-3 -5 because they are run heavy with Ingram
so if you run say DE Heyward DT Tyson DE Tuitt OLB Watt MLB Williams OLB/MLB Bush Spy Barron rest DB same

Good idea but Vince CANNOT and BETTER NOT be a QB spy on Lamar Jackson. That will be a disaster!!! IMO, Vince must stop Ingram. Period the end. I put Bush as a spy on Jackson ALL DAY...

I think our ball control dink n dunk could work again if we keep the game close in the first half and unleash hell deep later.

Dont give up the big plays and make him cough up some turnovers by the D. The Browns made his Kordell wormburners come out early and he never got going.

Preach!

Their starting center could be OUT, that could be good for us too

my concern is that this steeler defense over the past few years has been really dumb. They seem to fall for every play fake in the book. That does concern me vs Balt but I'm hoping that Minkah is a steadying force that has made communication better.

Also, remember that Minkah actually played the ravens a few weeks ago with the dolphins so he's seen their offense already.

Jackson isn't a good QB. I'm sick of the talking heads jabbering about how great he is at passing. He's not. He's never going to be. You have to stop the run. If you don't he pulls in your safeties and goes over the top. That's why he has 10 Tds to just 2 picks. It's a structure offense centered on the run. You have to take that away and force him to pass. But if you don't stop the run you almost can't win. They'll eat up the clock and go over your safeties.

If Vince is healthy he has to play. Base 3-4 with a 4 man rush with backside containment and a spy (Bush), keep sound gap assignment and Lamar won't have anywhere to run

Dare them to run over Heyward , hargrave, tuitt, watt and Vince. Good luck with that

It's insane to suggest Lamar Jackson sucks, or anything close to it. I hope the Steelers are on their P's and Q's in preparing for him. The fact they signed a similar-style QB to the practice squad tells me they're taking the right approach. Our D needs to build on last week and continue showing improvement. It's never easy going against the Ravens D, so the extent our D can limit Jackson will go a long way in deciding the game.

This ^^^

He looks for a receiver deep. If wide open, he connects. If covered, he tucks and runs.

The Steelers should be concerned with the fact that a lot of his first reads involve the TE, deep middle. That play has killed the Steelers defense for a loooong time.

That's expecting a lot from Keith Butler. He's probably gameplanning for Joe Flacco.

Have to watch their speedster draft pick Brown. They will use the playaction and send him flying downfield. Discipline will be key in this game. Jackson will make a few plays to frustrate our D. Hopefully they can flatten him as he goes on one of his romps.

living near Baltimore, listening to these people, I am pretty certain the hall o Fame made an exception and inducted him into the Hall after the 1st two games.

Here's Jackson vs the vaunted Chiefs defense. His best plays were desperation jump balls.

He's not the worst QB to ever play. But he's not a good QB. He's mobile and he can run for yards. But he still doesn't have the progression and timing that good NFL QBs have. A lot of his throws are jump balls but you aren't beating the pats*** or Chiefs with jump balls and praying for PI calls.

I must say I didn't think Jackson would have success as a starting NFL QB. It's very early, but so far I'm looking wrong. Most of these mobile QB's flame out after a year or so once the NFL figures how to play them.

In Jackson's case I think he will struggle with zones and hitting moving targets over the middle.

Jackson is as dumb as a Baltimore crab. I think he'll have a bad game sooner or later and it will be downhill from there. I must say he went to the right team. He has a coach who understands how to use him and drafted a speedy receiver to take advantage of his arm.
