I hope they get him signed before the next huge TE contract comes out. Colby Fleener just got 35m.

The Saints went after Fleener because they thought they were out of the running for Green to the Steelers. So if Fleener is getting $36m over 5 years you can expect Green to be getting at least that much or a bit more.

Not so sure.... I think Fleener has the stats, where Green had a solid 2015.

I like it, but defense wins championships, and ours is so-so. Let's build up our defense!

I was hoping they would go after Green. He played extremely well when Antonio Gates went down with an injury.

He will be a solid player for us and will make Ben a happy QB.

1.25 mil this year with a 4.75 signing bonus. Great deal! following years-5 mil, 4.5, and 4.5.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing tight end Ladarius Green to a four-year deal worth $20 million, reports Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Green would give the high-powered Steelers offense yet another explosive playmaker to utilize in the passing game, joining receivers Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant, and Markus Wheaton.

Finally stepping out of Antonio Gates' shadow and taking on a lead tight end role could soon have him poised to outplay the figures involved in his new contract.

Green appeared in 13 games for the San Diego Chargers in 2015, recording 37 receptions for 429 yards and four touchdowns.

WOW, he came dirt cheap compared to what the lesser player Fleener got from the Saints.

Seems like a solid signing. No long term commitment. Even if he completely flops, it's not a terrible signing given the market and roster at this point.

I'm curious how they are going to use their TE's this season and how many snap counts Green will get. If he immediately become the #1 guy and gets like 95-99% snap counts in 2016, it's a steal contract. That type of money/commitment for a starting TE is peanuts in today's NFL.

But if he fails to mesh in the offense. If he can't block up to Haley's standards and you see a huge increase in snap counts from the very limited Matt Spaeth OR if the position becomes a hodgepodge of substitutions and roll playing, maybe it's not such a good signing.

As this point it really depends on his work ethic and how the coaches utilize (or not utilize) his talent.

I assume that the $4.75m signing bonus gets spread out over the 4 year deal. So his cap hit this year is approx.$2.44m. Hope that is right.
