Kevin Greene Hall of Fame

Its a shame Gregg Lloyd was such an *** to the media... it might be time to get him a look...lol

Seriously though... Greene really did redefine the OLB/ rush DE position in a way. his sacks and theatrics overshadowed the rest of his game. He deserved it even if some of the old school hardheads were purposely downplaying his career... it was like Swann in a way... how long do you penalize a all time great player because of something trivial, like playing too short or having a one dimensional stat line?

Congrats to 91! Well deserved and waited too long. Greg Lloyd dominated back then and deserves to be discussed and on a ballot. I just can't get over 91 being in the hall and not 95. My favorite Steeler of all time.

hey so anyone care to explain the circumstances around both Greene's arrival and departure. It seems like he's maybe the biggest free agent we ever signed. Wasn't Chad Brown in this mix as well? I barely followed football back in the late 80s/early 90s

The Rams switched from a 3-4 scheme to a 4-3 and Greene struggled a bit, they even had him playing DE at one point. Free agency came along in '93 and so he went looking for a 3-4 team again. Not sure who else besides the Steelers were doing the 3-4, but I know there weren't many back in those days. So that's why he signed for three years with the Steelers. Capers left the Burgh as DC after the '94 season to be head coach of the Panthers and went after Greene when he became a free agent in '96.
