As I understand it, Brown has NO leverage whatsoever in the trade issue.
Sure, he's crowing about a new contract and guaranteed money, but he is CURRENTLY under contract for another 3 years and if the Steelers trade him, they trade the contract as well.

That would mean the new team would ONLY technically be on the hook for Brown's contract for the next 3 years and they do NOT have to give him any signing bonus as he's already received that (Thank you 21 million in cap hell, Pittsburgh).

Thus if a new team wanted to give up a late first or an early 2nd and take a flyer on Brown they wouldn't have to do a thing but pick up the contract. Sure, Brown may throw a fit and pretend he's going to hold out, but then the team has NO financial risk because they won't have to pay him. If I'm a new team I tell him I won't renegotiate **** until after his first year. If he's as advertised, sure we'll sit down and work out a new deal. If he gives me **** or doesn't perform... well. He's got something like 14 million a year coming to him. That's more than good enough.

I don't think Brown realizes how ****** a spot he's actually in.

Don't be bitter man. I was just trying to confirm that there isn't some kind of wording or clausing in the CBA that makes it a necessity for the new team to offer a different contract.

If the above IS accurate, it is very telling that only 3 teams have expressed interest. There's basically 0 risk if you can afford the salary.

damn, Justin is married and going to be a dad, he thinks he's a real hard *** now. :D

Yep, the team getting him will be paying him 12 million per, and to put that in cap hit terms, they'll be getting the top WR and paying him a cap hit of the 15th highest paid WR, with no cap implications if they need to cut his *** or sit him and fine him for no showing.

It’s why Rosenhaus emphasized the Steelers are in control of the trade demands. The Steelers are going to get their worth before Brown gets his. Had Rosenhaus been given the ok to seek a trade he would have found a suitor to fulfill his client salary wishes first then Pittsburgh’s trade demand second. KC pretty much spelled that out to Brown publicly (thankfully).

A-N-D I'm sure you have noticed "ALL QUIET ON THE Mr. Big Checks FRONT". I'm sure Art Deuce / Colbert / Khan all said their respective shares of expertise to both Drew and Antonio in regards of what will happen if either cross the line.

A-N-D Deuce.................................... glad for Justine on the new daddy gig and the sternness towards our FAMOUS wig.

Seems to me that with only the salary as exposure, and getting arguably the best receiver, it would make sense to any team with cap room to deal a #1 for this character. They'd be getting a proven 'known' vs a complete unknown in the draft. AB is orders of magnitude better than any receiver in the draft at this stage of their development. Should be a no-brainer.

Teams could also be trying to stay hush-hush for now too.

Teams could also be trying to stay hush-hush for now too.

Thinking the same.

Take an extreme example. Who would have more effect on games over the remaining life of AB's contract - Nick Bosa or AB, assuming you have a QB that can get the ball to AB? Who would deliver more value for that pick? Bosa MIGHT get a dozen sacks in his first year. MIGHT average a dozen or so a year. AB can have a dozen catches in a game. Who impacts the game more? Do you see a Bosa taking over a game like Silverback did on MNF against the McNairs? Doubt it. AB can take over games. At will. Bosa is a pick for team trying to build. AB is a trade for a team trying to get to the dance.

Get the value Arty!

AB can take over games if and only if he has a QB worth a ****.
he was marginally above average when he had to suffer through Landry Jones.

I see him as a top ten WR with a top 10 QB. To be fair not too many teams have the suck of a Landry Jones. Nor the greatness of a Big Ben.

So I am in line with your thinking. I also believe he will start to naturally drop off very soon. His average started to dip this year. Which will make him a very good WR when it does, instead of the best or one of the best. In some ways this is the best time to trade him, even though his behavior helped with that decide.

I will be shocked if bABy doesn’t end up in GB. I still can’t see the Steelers getting a high 1st, because of the baggage and that if a team has a top 15 pick, they’re not likely a single player away from contending. GB makes so much sense for many reasons.... with Rodgers at QB they’re almost always going to be close to contending. GB has 2 firsts, 2 fourths n 2 sixths, as well as their 2nd, 5th n 7th, so draft capital is there. They have a HUGE hole at WR, with Cobb not likely back n I believe Geronimo Allison is also a free agent. An O of Rodgers, Jones, Adams, Brown would be quite formidable. And, as discussed above, the lack of cap ramifications for the team that acquires him should be very appealing.

I could live with the 30th pick, higher of their 2 fourth round picks and maybe swapping second round picks to get a little more value???

Yeah something along those lines is doable.

Will be interesting when the teams start bidding. And now that the clamps have been put on ABs mouth that does nothing but help the Steelers cause.

Really hard to gage the return he will get as the circumstances and his stats are rare for someone to be traded. I am thinking a low one and a player. Or a mid round 1. Or a 1 and a change in draft positioning like was mentioned.

In some ways it is fun to think of the possibilities. If done right this can really help the team. If nothing perhaps get this team a little more balanced and focused.

I think Brown has leverage to pseudo veto any trade. If I'm a team like the Redskins or Lions I'm gonna want to be sure Brown will accept playing for our ****** to mediocre team without drama before I pull the trigger on a trade, making this difficult on Colbert and putting stronger teams like the Packers, Colts, Texans at an advantage over Colbert.

Well, the new team has to believe AB isn't gonna immediately demand a new contract and sit out until he gets it.

Colbert will talk Gruden into giving up one of his 1sts

At this point he doesn't seem to be about the money (like Bell), he just wants out of here.

I remember my very young at the time daughter, me being up with her all night. Morning comes I take her in to the doc and it was ear infection and they gave her medicine and we went and filled prescription. By the time we got home she was sound asleep and grandma kept her so I could go to work and put in a ten hour day.

Justine has this to look forward too............... always well worth it in my book!,,,,,,,,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the new team has to believe AB isn't gonna immediately demand a new contract and sit out until he gets it.

I'm still of a notion that once they get to the actual trade realities, AB may want to reconsider. He is going to share in holding the ****** end of this deal with AR2 and I don't see how any of it will benefit him.

The Steelers will take a hit from his contract extensions and the up front money that will still linger after he is gone.

AB will be stuck with a team not of his choosing and a real possibility of being relegated to obscurity by an underwhelming offense.

(Same goes for MeVeon )

At some point he has to see this ....or not I guess ?

th

AB said on twitter or instagram that he wants more guaranteed money.
so, a new team will be locked in to giving him a new deal. or so they'd think.

SteelChip that is the reality and also what makes BROWN so ******* stupid about this whole situation. From the very beginning several of us here have said how little he has in control of this outcome. I think with that meeting of the higher up brass, it was brought to his reality. Currently he is "ALL QUIET on the Mr. Big Checks" front. I bet he holds that quiet and was told that plays a part in where they might send him. AGAIN, these guys are hired for their athletic ability and not the legnth of their brain wave.

Brown has 5 suitors now.

Last Wednesday, Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said the Steelers would only trade disgruntled wide receiver Antonio Brown if the deal made sense for the team.

Two days later, he told NFL.com that three teams had called to inquire about the All-Pro receiver.

Since then, according to a source, at least two additional teams have contacted the Steelers to inquire about Brown, bringing the number of potential suitors to five.
