As I understand it, Brown has NO leverage whatsoever in the trade issue.
Sure, he's crowing about a new contract and guaranteed money, but he is CURRENTLY under contract for another 3 years and if the Steelers trade him, they trade the contract as well.
That would mean the new team would ONLY technically be on the hook for Brown's contract for the next 3 years and they do NOT have to give him any signing bonus as he's already received that (Thank you 21 million in cap hell, Pittsburgh).
Thus if a new team wanted to give up a late first or an early 2nd and take a flyer on Brown they wouldn't have to do a thing but pick up the contract. Sure, Brown may throw a fit and pretend he's going to hold out, but then the team has NO financial risk because they won't have to pay him. If I'm a new team I tell him I won't renegotiate **** until after his first year. If he's as advertised, sure we'll sit down and work out a new deal. If he gives me **** or doesn't perform... well. He's got something like 14 million a year coming to him. That's more than good enough.
I don't think Brown realizes how ****** a spot he's actually in.
