Judgement Day "Shady Brady" vs. Roger - OFFICIAL THREAD

The D was great the first 2 SBs but Bradshaw won the last two. The defense was older and the offense averaged 31 points in the 1979 playoffs. They averaged 34 points in the 78' playoffs. Dallas scored 31 against the D in the 78' SB. Bradshaw is vastly underrated compared to pretty boy Tom*** who had a top defense along with the other teams defensive calls and video. I can understand putting Montana ahead of Bradshaw because of his SB numbers but Brady** should never be in the same sentence with Bradshaw when talking about the best QB.

Man, just talking about Bradshaw brings back good memories. I remember watching the Steelers/Bills Playoff game in '74 through snow on the TV, as we had an antenna and the reception was terrible that day. We keep going out and turning it but no improvement. There goes a Steeler helmet, now a Bills helmet, that's about all you could make out. The throw to Swann he made in 10, the famous catch you see all the time, was really a great throw. The catch shouldn't have been that hard. I remember after that catch going out in the yard and throwing the ball over the wash line, juggling it around and diving in the snow. I was still young enough not to think the game would still go on. I got back in just in time to see the TD throw to Swann, another great throw. The one to Stallworth in 14. None of these endless little 2 yard throws like Tommy makes all the time. Truth is Bradshaw was still getting better. If you ever get a chance, the '82 playoff game against the Chargers is on Youtube, I think. He was at the top of his game. He threw a bad pick, but that was Bradshaw. Shouldn't have come to that, as there was a bad call on Ham negating a Blount interception that probably would have sealed it.

The arrogance of a cheater....... A sense of entitlement........ Prove it.......... Everybody else is doing it...... The deflater, is a nick name for weight loss......... I accept the fine and loss of multiple draft picks............ I will not turn over my "hand picked" text messages......... I like my balls a certain way........... I don't care how my balls feel......... I am not aware and don't care of the PSI.........
................. Do these sound like the words of an inocent man? Beat around the bush and release propaganda about the charges. this br*dy guy is a ratfink and a total lying SOB. No wonder he and the missus is having trouble with their relationshiop. This organization is faulty from top to bottom with no exceptions in between.

Plus in 3 of his 4 Superbowls Bradshaw faced Hall of fame QB's, Tarkenton and Staubach twice.

So he will accept a suspension if it is for noncompliance, but not if it is for cheating. OK? 8 games suspension for non-compliance. Have. A. Nice. Day.

Let history show Brady accepted a suspension for noncompliance with an investigation into his suspected cheating.

so say they agree to a 1 game suspension. what message does that send. 2 games for smoking weed and 1 game for cheating and messing with the integrity of the game. makes sense.

Great point. The only potential HOF QB Brady faced was Eli and he got his *** kicked twice.

Judge Berman is not giving the NFL any leeway according to today's reports...hopefully, it's all smoke and mirrors...

Adam Schefter's is a credible as any NFL reporter. He sat in the court room and thinks the judge does not think the Wells report was fair. To quote him directly, "If Judge Berman was critical of NFL last week, he was even more critical today. Questions of fundamental fairness and evident impartiality. "

If I'm Brady I take Roger Goodell down to the matt. The NFL was arrogant and unfair. This is Goodell's MO. Even though I can't stand New England, I view this as a possible victory for any player, some of whom were Steelers. If the NFL wasn't doing ridiculously well, Roger Goodell would have been fired by now.

If it were a Steeler player (Big Ben) he would have been banned for a complete season, just ask goodell

I wanna hear your credible source "explain" how his comments (siding w/ Goodell) on removing Sean Payton, for a year, does not equate to this bum puck scenario...

Yeah looks like the judge will throw this out. The only good that will come of this is that it seems that it was Goodell's hill to die on. Though I don't expect him to be gone at least immediately, I would assume his days of making decisions about suspensions is largely over. At least with the ones that have a little wiggle room or conjecture. Ben should launch a suit to get his four game cheques back. You have a huge pattern of Goodlell making poor decisions.

I still think they'll find a way for Brady* to play against us in the opener.

I don't think there is any question about it Ron. At least in my mind. From what the judge said, he feels that a fine was in order, but that there is no connection between deflating the footballs and PED's that Goodell used in his judgement. I think the NFL's case is dead in the water. The problem for me is that I think there is a lot more to this case than the NFL is letting on. For instance, how were they alerted to the deflation in the first place. That linebacker from the colts intercepted the ball and said the PSI was off. Really. Give me a break. I know we the fans want to see him suspended, cause I hate the guy. Really I do. But the Steelers seem to want to play him. F'k it, I'd rather see them line up against the best and try for a big upset, than get upset against Garapollo and look like idiots on opening night. Clearly Tomlin is not good at getting this team ready for the early season games.

If Brady wins this case, I would be expect the judge to have the balls to say that all the commissioner's past rulings are equally suspect and that every player suspended under Goodell has the legal right to sue via the NFLPA for their suspension money and lost salaries.

If I were Roethlisberger's lawyer I'd hold up an empty evidence bag and enter it as the charges filed against Ben Roethlisberger. Right after the NFL lawyers objected I'd hold up another empty bag and enter it as the arrest record.

Then I'd ask for the suspension money back and the 4 paychecks. And I'd demand them to give me grounds for denying. And I'd say right there in court, You ******* KNEW Br*dy cheated but you made the bullshit deal with the devil. Well here you've got a case where a guy was ACTUALLY railroaded. This is the EASY part. In a minute. I'm going to ask for ******* DAMAGES!

The NFLPA is making their own beds. How are they going to pay for all the lawsuits they are obligated to put up against the NFL now? They can't turn anyone down. I mean Goodell has been so arbitrary that basically ANYONE has a decent shot at winning. So the NLFPA is basically bound to represent the players in court.

The CBA is going to be completely trashed. If I were an owner (and I've said this before,) I'd throw the entire thing out and say the judge has already ruled that it's invalid. So let's not pretend parts of it still are. We're throwing out the baby with the bathwater here.

And the best possible thing that could happen is that he gets Theisman'd early in the 4th quarter of a blowout loss in game one. Then watch the league burn.

I've said the same thing about Ben's suspension. However, he might have signed legal papers not saying that he did anything wrong in Midgeville but that he accepted the suspension so that he could get reinstated. The bigger question was where was the NFLPA when he needed reprentation. Many of us back then we're dissapointed in him but aware of the slippery slope that occurs when due process is ignored.

Shefter is a tool. He has been basing the NFL every chance he can get and spins everything to make the NFL look bad. I certainly don't like Goddell but 4 games for this is getting off easy, in my mind. I hope they stick to their guns because even if this dick judge does rule against the NFL, the NFL will win at the appeals court.

When you get out of the nfl league office and into the courts the rules really change. Anyone without a Patriots brain or at least anyone with a brain of their own knows he is guilty. However, rule of law is far different than common sense.

This is still a LONG way from really being over.

The Brady camp will file for an injunction of the suspension soon citing the damage of "not knowing who the starter will be week 1" will irreversibly damage Brady and the Patriots (which it would) if in fact the court case after innumerable appeals rules in Brady's favor.

Based on the reports from the courtroom to date, I don't see how Judge Berman doesn't grant an injunction.

The injunction could be the instigator of the NFL to change in position in settlement talks. Brady has reportedly agreed to take a 1-game suspension for not cooperating with the investigation if all reference to "cheating" and admission of the Wells report as fact is not required. Not sure Brady/Kessler still think that's a good deal for them or not after this past Wednesday and not sure an injunction would make the NFL re-think accepting that as resolution.

If no agreement happens before Friday, September 4th (and that's only 2 weeks away), then Berman has said he will rule on the case.

Once he rules, the loser will surely appeal and we're in for a long waiting game (possibly 6 months or more) before this whole issue is even relevant again. If it gets to an appeal, expect Brady to just play out the 2015 season as normal and any suspension will happen in 2016 if the NFL ultimately wins on appeal (although I think Brady could appeal again to the Supreme Court).

The standard for receiving an injunction isn't just "irreparable harm". In order to get an injunction, you have to allege and show that there is likely to be irreparable harm AND that you are likely to win on the merits at trial. Brady winning on the merits is no sure thing.

I wonder if all this negative publicity has started any thinking among owners that maybe goodell's time has passed?

Part of me hopes that Goodell gets crushed in court, even if it means the *'s win, and the owners rethink how good of a lawyer they think he is.

I really think Goodell's job is riding on this case. If the judge gives Brady a complete victory, then the owners will have to find a way to transition away from Goodell --- he will truly lose whatever remaining credibility and authority he has at this point. He would have a chance to recover if this thing ends in a settlement, but an all-out Brady victory would be crushing for Goodell.
