Charlie Batch just reported that Jordan Berry missed the audible to call off the fake punt. Rest of players heard the call and proceeded for regular punt.

So just a missed communication to Berry. Call happened on the field.

Definitely should not have even been a thought. Horrendous to even bring it up.

Dumb call regardless if called off. It never should be in play on our side of the field. Ever.

AND then some wonder why we are still cautious on this coaching staff.................. Situational football

but! but! but! but derpity doo, tuh-tuh-tuh-tomlin and this staff are great, can't you tell?!

Doesn't matter. A fake should never have been an option in that situation.

I'm just glad it didn't kill them, there would've been pandemonium of biblical proportions. Human sacrifices, dogs & cats living together; Mass Hysteria!

Sorry but why would Tomlin even consider such a lame move, You are up ten they have to come down the field and clock running. Made no sense.

His worst decision of the season, by far. Just mind-numbingly stupid.

A-N-D maybe my redheaded sports bar manager would have came home with me to ease my pain................. ANYTHING is possible.....

A little more detail

"The fake punt call did not come from the sidelines, according to Berry. It was an automatic call that was in all week. It was called off by the personal protector. Berry never heard it. Obviously, he has to use better judgment and not fake it no matter what in that situation."

well then, I stand corrected. Tomlin didn't call for it - its part of a read. That is fine, but those reads shoudl be called off at that stage of the game/season.

i have been very impressed with tomlin this year. he has shown an ability to adapt his gameplan as the game goes on. even won a replay challenge. daisies and rainbows abound

But, at least once a game, i find myself thinking....."tomlin gonna tomlin"

Damn

It was coached by him during the week. If he didn't want the call in that situation, then CMT should have made that abundantly clear before Berry took the field.

In Tomlin’s post game presser he said it was his call because there was 6 in the box and 2 deep. He was short and to the point. That call sucked and could have cost a victory. Another bad one was the pass instead of run with less than 2 min left. Gave Arizona another 40 seconds.

Happy it all worked out.

Don’t confuse everyone with the facts. My understanding is that the call is on based upon a “look” - not the situation. Most of the team called it off (perhaps because of the situation), which resulted in blown protection. Who know’s, if it wasn’t called off at the line, maybe it would have been successful.
