Jones benched by coaches.....

Bjoern Werner stands out, but which other player on this list would you not want instead of Jarvis? these were all drafted in the 1st after we picked.

18 49ers Eric Reid FS
19 Giants Justin Pugh OT
20 Bears Kyle Long OG
21 Bengals Tyler Eifert TE
22 Falcons Desmond Trufant CB
23 Vikings Sharrif Floyd DT
24 Colts Bjoern Werner DE
25 Vikings Xavier Rhodes CB
26 Packers Datone Jones DE
27 Texans DeAndre Hopkins WR
28 Broncos Sylvester Williams DT
29 Vikings Cordarrelle Patterson WR
30 Rams Alec Ogletree ILB
31 Cowboys Travis Frederick C
32 Ravens Matt Elam FS

I recall wanting one of the CBs instead of Jones. Both Rhodes and Trufant have become good players in the league.

ENOUGH FROM THE CLOWN.....send a message and cut Jones now. Mitchell has an $8M cap hit the next two seasons. If you cut him post Jun 1, you clear up $5M of cap space in each of the last two years of his contract...only leaves $3M of dead money on the books in each of the next two years. That's an easy kill.

Jones should have been benched long ago, with the younger players ( Chickillo ) or perhaps even Timmons

There it is...was waiting for that one to get thrown out again.

Chick, Dupree, and Debo should get the most reps going forward. Moats should be cut this offseason and Debo will retire. Chick, Dupree, 1rd pass rusher, and vet backup can be our OLB next year.

A dangerously average situational pass rusher (chick), a guy hopefully soon coming off injury (Dupree) who is still a somewhat unproven commodity, a 1st rounder ( likely a younger JJ 2.0 the way we draft edge rushers) and a vet rotational player (another team's cast off scrub)....UGH. So you're saying we're screwed for pass rush next year too?

We're going into next year with the worst possible scenario at OLB.

Jarvis Jones has lost the coaches confidence and will not be resigned
Harrison is old and can not be relied upon to start next year, let alone still play. He also won't make up his mind until April (after the draft).
Chickillo is a question mark, but at least he's trending up
Moats is a vet stop gap
Dupree is a question mark, and never was a consistent pass rusher.

That is a whole lot of suck with 3 definite returning players. The Steelers have to go after a big time pass rusher in free agency, AND draft an OLB high next season. That's the only way to right the ship.

Play the players that give you the best chance to win, and if you have a veteran who's a zero, give a younger player who might be better a chance. Coaching 101.

The Steelers, mostly Tomlin who picks the starters doubled and tripled down like a foolish gambler expecting different results.

I find it hilarious that some here are almost hoping one of our younger players at a position of need doesn't pan out.

There is a good chance Chickillo can lead the team in sacks. Yes, that might be saying like he's the tallest midget among them, but for those who study his snaps to splash pay ratio I would say he's capable of more.

And we need more as the team has but 13 sacks in 9 games played.

^^^ Hammer meet nail. ^^^

Listening to Jones' comments yesterday, he thinks he will still get the most snaps between the 2. I sure hope he is as delusional as his play is.

If this is a "you don't get to start" benching bs I am going to be sick. I say give Chick the majority of snaps and Jones 5-10 and let that sink it. So far nothing has really lit a fire under his *** so many that will or maybe he takes his multimillions and rides off into the sunset. But this move was a year at minimum overdue.

OLB that might be worth it.

Melvin Ingram OLB Chargers. Will they tag him? Had 10+ last year and on pace for 10 again this year. But how much does he end up getting? He also will be 28 so how long and much do you invest? He probably has 2-3 years left of being good but who knows.

Chandler Jones OLB Arizona. Do we even think we'd sign that kind of free agent with his potential for being suspended? Too bad he would be awesome.

Jamie Collins OLB Browns. Is he even an upgrade to be honest?

I think it's Dupree, Chick, Moats and round 1-3 draft pick next year boys.

But hey if we want to call out players, should we also call out coaches. ? Lake and Porter?

Lake for sure. A great player and a class guy, but not so great as a coach.

Porter might be too new to grade out.

It's hard to say how much is coaching and how much is drafting weak no-talent china dolls.

No I mean younger players that looked good in camp and have produced in games, not blown them. Got it?

No you mean younger players that YOU think looked good in camp, produced in games, and not blown them. We know you feel Chickillo is the next coming of Kevin Greene or Greg Lloyd. I am high on him as well, but he has produced in spurts, disappeared in games and low and behold has missed his assignments and tackles. Just like another young player who looked promising in OTAs asked to take on an additional role by the coaches because of it. He was injured and then told to concentrate on his natural position and now is is starting too....as a rookie.

Chickillo is a second year player who didn't do anything his rookie season because he was learning a new position and working into OLB shape. Davis has played, produce and yes made mistakes, but again as a rookie. He is getting more experience and, like 56 getting better each time he plays.

I do get coach that, while you can provide insightful opinions on occasion, you would argue with a dead man that he is really alive.

Jones's linebacking has been horrible he just can't rush the quarterback. What kills me the book on him coming out of college has been spot on. Might be cheaper and more effective if they just fire the scouts and keep the coaches home from the workout and instead read the steelernation board.... couldnt do any worse....

What happened? Didn't Tomlin call Jones " Solid "

Greene? Lloyd? I never said anything close to that. I noticed you have a tendency to put words in my mouth I never said. No need for that

Chickillio had a good camp and like I said should have been given more snaps early in the season.

Davis getting better? Did you see how he cost us in the Dallas game?

What happened is bleacher report, click bait pos source, used the word "benched" to get fools to read their **** articles...what actually happened is Heyward got hurt and they switched the rotation to Harrison getting first up in rotation to add leadership in the huddle and help him with ability to produce in game. Has been stated by Porter (who wants to see more of JJ) that the warm up and then cool down for James has been hindering him when he comes in. Silverback is 38, so why not let him warm up and give it a go to somewhat empty his tank before cool down then rotate JJ in?

Article should have read Steelers change LB rotation to try to increase productivity at a lacking position or Steelers trying to maximize potential from LB corps...but those headlines don't get blood thirsty piranhas to click their articles. They know the pulse of Steeeler fans and the overall disappointment with JJ so why not fuel the feeding frenzy by using the word "benched".

I'll believe he is benched when he sees less than 10 snaps, until then it is just a pos editor seeking click bait for their pos "news source"

You really are that naive to believe that Sean Davis cost us the game against the cowboys? His penalty is the one that stands out, but it certainly is not the reason the Steelers lost that ******* game.
