Jones benched by coaches.....

What a waisted #1 draft pick and wasted F/A signing. What did we sign Mitchell for, something like 5/25 million. Holy crap!
What are Colbert and Tomlin watching when they draft some of these guys and bring the others in through F/A?
How does Colbert become so inept in recognizing talent? He and Cowher worked great together. Maybe Cowher was the true talent evaluator and Colbert got credit not deserved. Now he's exposed under this coach. I don't know! Find it hard to believe Colbert just got stupid in evaluating talent.

Yeah, Le'Veon - Antonio - DeCastro - Pouncey - Gilbert - Hayward - Tuitt - Shazier!
You guys SUCK!
What the hell was our coaching staff and front office thinking when they drafted you?!?!?

Seriously?
Not one team hits on all their picks.
Even our legendary '74 draft had stiffs.
Yes, it seems like we have a bunch of stiffs all bunched too close together. I get it.

I'm sorry, fellas.
This is my second post like this.
I think all of these injuries + wasted stiff picks/FA + questionable play calling + off field shenanigans all too close together is getting to me.
It is what it is.
As the the great Jerome Lester Horwitz once said, "We're a victim of circumstances."
And it stinks.

I don't care if he didn't hit on this pick, but if anyone can tell me that the good teams would have hung on to this piece of **** for this long they are high. It became painfully obvious in year two this guy was a stiff. Why bench him now. How is he any worse than he ever was. What an embarrassment. Oh yeah Mike. He looks much worse than he did. Cm'on man.

As a UGA alum. Ouch. But he was not cut for the nfl

Your talking about a handful of very good picks. Now weigh that against all the bad picks that were made. Not a pretty picture. And don't be so quick to categorize Shazier as a great pick just yet. You blow on this guy and he gets hurt.
Now let's talk about the great F/A signings the last10 years. Mitchell, Cam Thomas, Moats, Mayhan, McCain, Green, Matthews.
The issue is that too many of these stiffs have been high round stiffs. Ziggy Hood #1, Uncle Jarvis #1, Shazier #1 (just cannot stay healthy), Golson#2 (can't even get out of training camp), Tuitt #2 (not nearly as consistent as he should be for that high of a pick), Wheaton #3 one good season out of four.
They just aren't getting the return on a lot of these guys that should be at the highest point of their producing years.
Pouncey and DeCastro are NOT having their best years. They're just not. I'm not saying they aren't good picks but they were counted on heavily this year and it's been a letdown with them.
Couple all that with the mental midget of a head coach and you have 4-5.

For the most part, Tombert drafts pretty good on offense but their draft picks on defense are mostly bad or get hurt a lot. I've made the case before that in ten years Tombert only drafted four decent players on defense. Shazier is too soon to tell but he's another one that gets hurt a lot.

Has this been verified by the Steelers or is this more internet rumor bullshit?

Being reported on all the Steeler news sites. Jarvis even said so during a locker room interview after practice.

I still stand by my position that Shazier should be moved into Mitchell's Safety spot. Addition by subtraction. Shazier just seems too small to take on the Bug Ugly's all the time, and he gets hurt more often than not.

The question is whether Shazier has the instincts and reaction time to play safety. I like the idea in theory though, and we know he has the speed as well.

Shazier needs protected, kind of like Ray Lewis was in the early 2000's, the line didn't let anyone touch, him ran freely to make plays

Bjoern Werner stands out, but which other player on this list would you not want instead of Jarvis? these were all drafted in the 1st after we picked.

18 49ers Eric Reid FS
19 Giants Justin Pugh OT
20 Bears Kyle Long OG
21 Bengals Tyler Eifert TE
22 Falcons Desmond Trufant CB
23 Vikings Sharrif Floyd DT
24 Colts Bjoern Werner DE
25 Vikings Xavier Rhodes CB
26 Packers Datone Jones DE
27 Texans DeAndre Hopkins WR
28 Broncos Sylvester Williams DT
29 Vikings Cordarrelle Patterson WR
30 Rams Alec Ogletree ILB
31 Cowboys Travis Frederick C
32 Ravens Matt Elam FS

AAAAnnnndddd he is still making those plays today.............LEAST ways he is getting credit for the tackles that is.

I Remeber that POST Ron and to me that is insane. 4 caliber defensive players in ten years of drafting..........INSANE.!!!!!

Tuitt really hasn't hit the level you can put him on that list IMO, and Shazier needs to stay healthy, to belong on it as well.

I hope Debo has 6 strong games as a starter left in him.

At least mitchell contract is heavy loaded upfront and not much cap casualty for the final three years. He might be cut at the end of the season and won't hurt us

Listening to Jones' comments yesterday, he thinks he will still get the most snaps between the 2. I sure hope he is as delusional as his play is.

Only about a season and a half too late. But, bettet late than never I suppose. So long JarJar, can't say it's been fun.

See that is the problem with this "BENCHING", it can't even be done right. All their doing is saying DEBO trots out in opening line up ceremony. How is it a benching when you are going to play still your fair share of snaps???? Like I said earlier that this isn't serious as they didn't cut him. I know their hands are tied on that matter of "CUT" due to no one left that isn't sub-level talent. The true intentions will be realized after season and when it's time to actually make the cut.

Salute the nation

Anyone see the video of Debo doing the bench with 1-45 lb on each side and 2-45 lb on each side hanging by bungee cords? That is crazy but I am sure a great workout needed for an NFL player. Taking free weights to the extreme.

About time, anyone with eyes could see who the better player was. The final two drives must've been the nail in the coffin

This is why the coaches upset me. Anyone with a pair of eyes knew Jones at this point in his career, is what he is. Jones should have been benched long ago, with the younger players ( Chickillo ) or perhaps even Timmons taking some of his pass rushing attempts.
