About time, anyone with eyes could see who the better player was. The final two drives must've been the nail in the coffin

Jones benched so that means they are actively pursuing the sack record for Silverback and looking for leadership in the huddle with Heyward heading to IR. He'll still get as many snaps as Chicky (probably some from the left side) and should get more than Moats. With Harrison approaching 40 he's no longer an every down player, so yeah he will be benched into receiving the 2nd most snaps in what is our weak OLB rotation.

I wanted Jones to develop into an average starter this year and he had some nice moments, but not enough. His time with the Steelers is almost over.

put a nail in the coffin

Honestly, I would much rather have read that Mike Mitchell was being demoted instead of Jarvis. At least Jarvis has made a play here and there this season.

yeah Mitchell is hot garbage

I'd prefer both.

What a waisted #1 draft pick and wasted F/A signing. What did we sign Mitchell for, something like 5/25 million. Holy crap!
What are Colbert and Tomlin watching when they draft some of these guys and bring the others in through F/A?
How does Colbert become so inept in recognizing talent? He and Cowher worked great together. Maybe Cowher was the true talent evaluator and Colbert got credit not deserved. Now he's exposed under this coach. I don't know! Find it hard to believe Colbert just got stupid in evaluating talent.

I totally agree. Mike Mitchell is our biggest liability at this point. The DL (no pressure) and the OLB (no pressure) is second. Or the fact that no one remembers how to tackle.

But back to Mitchell, it will take an injury for Tomlin to bench Mike Mitchell.

Appears Jones time has ended, at least for the time being according to Bleacher Report if that means anything.

A day late and dollar short. Hoodie would have bounced him no later than after 2nd season. In Pgh, they have to protect their egos as the "smartest guys in the room" so instead of admitting Jones was a bust and cutting him, they held onto him forever, even making statements such as his "play is solid." How far back did their insistence on JJ being a decent player set us back? He DIRECTLY costed us the Dallas game; that long winning TD run was directly his fault. He was supposed to be filling the very lane Elliott took on his way to the endzone.

Of course, because benching him would be admitting they made a bad decision when signing him. They can't do that: The protection of egos comes before the success of the team with these guys.

I think that KC is a microcosm of the entire team: They read their press clippings (watch TV) and start believing the hype in themselves. KC really thinks he is the "smartest man in the room" when it comes to talent evaluation. And to complicate matters, when it gets apparently that they made a bad decision, they are slow to react, because they don't want to admit they were wrong. A large % of this teams problems come down to this.

True Jones isn't a very good player but for you to outright blame ego, UNLESS YOU HAVE direct insider information, is just an OPINION. and pleeeeease go f-U-C-K your hoodie analogy.

Finally the coaching staff (if that is who truely made the decision) has benched a poor player. With as week as our OLB corps is does JJ truely miss snaps totally or just in title?? Who will pick up al;l the extra snaps missed?? Harrison can't handle the full load due to age. Uncle Jarvis isn't starter material and it's a shame it took so long to "bench" him. My concern is who will replace the snaps missed or is this "benching" in title only??????

Our outside linebackers have combined for six sacks and can't set the edge in run defense.. They're our biggest liability.

one of the biggest problem with this team, too slow to make changes.

game adjustments
player adjustments
even getting up to the line in critical situations, too slow

it is like a person that is clueless that just keeps staring at a problem and months later figures it out

and the free agents they bring in most of them, hot garbage lately

they really aren't improving in any area. If it wasn't for the O, they would be bottom feeders. And aren't too far off from that now.

I fully agree on the slowness of change. JJones hasn't ever showed much from the beginning, both pre & post hurt. Why they stayed with him so long has more to do with the talent under him than an ego trip. WE JUST DON"T HAVE UNDERLYING TALENT to replace the garbage infront. That is a coaching / Colbert problem. Shame on them for the lousy talent evaluation and depth of back up. Benching him is one thing but a FULL OUT CUT would mean they actually mean buisness !!!!!

Yes, you know exactly what "they" do and what "they believe" while inside those offices at the UPMC complex. Please.....

What would have been interesting to know is what this defense would have been like with a healthy Bud Dupree. How much of a difference would he have really made?

Gee, only took everyone in the local, national, and world media to say it first.

Not to mention the entirety of Steeler Nation.

Good job Shades!!

Jones was tossed around like a rag doll pretty regularly by every LT he ever faced.

Jarvis blew his assignment on Elliot's final TD. He is still too slow and weak to play the position as predicted.

Some of us see signs and apply vision; some don't have that ability. To some, it is OBVIOUS that this team operates in ego-saving mode. It explains a great many things. If you don't have the vision to see it, don't be angry at others who do.

I wonder if the Chin would be interested in a GM position? If he is, I would bring him in and let him choose his Coaches.
