James Harrison

pffft...y'all nutz...dude can still play. I see it on TV:

Seriously though, most likely JH just likes the doc and still goes to his private practice. He probably just had an appt anyway and saw a chance to have a little trolling fun. A lot of din over a lot of nothing I think.

I'm still on Harrison's side with the way things were handled. I'd welcome him back and see what he can do in a rotational role.

- He only decided to stay in Pittsburgh in 2017 because he was promised a starting role. He was nearing the end of his career and wanted to start rather than waste the year on the bench. Any true competitor would have wanted the same.
- Season started and they played him 4% of the snaps. After the first game where he got 3 snaps he asked to be released and every week thereafter his agent made calls to ask for his release.
- When he actually got to play against the Chiefs he showed he still had it with a game-sealing sack, a few hits, and a TFL.
- Right after he wins the game for us against KC they go back to benching him.
- After being promised a starting role and instead riding the bench, he repeatedly asked to be allowed to go somewhere so he could play. The team refused, so he acted out to try and force their hand.
- He's finally let go and gets picked up by NE where he has a shot to contribute. He immediately has a huge 2 sack game.
- He gets to play 91% of the snaps in the Super Bowl and has 2 of the team's 14 QB Hits (the team would finish with only 1 sack).
- Harrison retires and continues to rep Black and Gold despite the way things ended.

Y'all would have done the same if you were in his shoes. You want to whine and expect subservience and kowtowing loyalty to the organization that scapegoated Dick-*******-LeBeau and forced Troy-goddamned-Polamalu into retirement. Why does the organization get the benefit of the doubt in unfeeling, self-serving business decisions (and outright lies, like convincing him to come back so he could start), but one of the greatest players to suit up for us gets **** on for looking out for himself? It's honestly baffling how dick-sucky and obtuse some of you get when it comes to the organization making mistakes. Yes, the Steelers are one of the absolute best franchises in sports, but that does not make them infallible. They **** on Dick and Troy and they were too nice to put up a fight. James stuck up for himself and he's the ******* devil incarnate.

Edit: Had multiple tabs open and deleted this post because I thought for a second I put it in the wrong thread. But it was in the right thread to begin with.

I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with most of this post. When Harrison was promised play time, that was BEFORE they drafted Watt. Watt then proceeded to beat him out.

I have no doubt in my mind they would have used Harrison more in the playoffs, they weren't just keeping him on the bench out of spite.

They didn't **** on Troy, they have him two options, retire or get cut. Everyone could see he was no longer Troy, he was barely an average safety his last year. He was injured often, slowed down, was a liability. Colbert and Tomlin's job is to field the best team possible. Troy, for as great as he once was, and that was GREAT, wasn't the best player, and cost too much to be a bench player. THAT is the nature of this business.

Harrison acted like a toddler, much like a certain 84 that people happily disown

Yeah, I’ve heard that argument about what he “was promised.” First off, how does anyone know “what he was promised,” if they weren’t in the room? Second, what difference does it make? The NFL is a business. Since when does anyone become “entitled” to anything, simply based on past dormancy. If he was “promised” the OLB position, but Watt came along and took it from him, maybe he needs to play harder and dare them to keep him off the field.

Tomlin has too much pride (deservedly so) to entertain the idea of Harrison coming back for depth. And it would also be an insult to Bud. As much as I loved Deebo when he was a Steeler, his actions since being a Steeler have all but guaranteed that he will never suit up again...

This is a super bowl caliber team. If they have things ironed out behind the scenes, then so be it. He'd definitely work in pass rush situations for a handful of snaps or so.

I do think he's screwing with you guys. I don't give a crap what drama went down at the end. Though it pissed me off as a fan. This team would probably have 5 rings, not 6 without him. I will always be thankful for his contributions to the team.

Again, I totally think he's trolling..lol

Well at least it gave me the initiative to watch some Harrison highlights. Man what a beast he was!

**** Deebo. He has no place on any football field as a player.

I don't know about a football field, but the dude is tearing up fantasy football geeks on their front lawns.

I've seen that commercial almost as many times as the one with the **** people leave on top of their ******* cars...give it a break already.

1 vet will be neaded pick 1
Deebo
Matthews
Wake
Beasely

With all seriousness, Harrison is just way too old to realistically consider, without even considering how he left town a few years ago.

Wake is pretty long in the tooth, also, and wasn't all that productive in '19, over 9 games, to warrant serious consideration.

Beasely… no thanks! He was cut by the Titan's, in spite of having a team total of 7 sacks, through 8 games. This guy seems like a bum after one fluke of a 15 sack season, already several years ago. A shame, considering his age (28), and only being a year older than Bud.

Matthews would be my call to kick the tires on, but way back in September, before anyone knew how much of a disaster Denver would be, Elway couldn't convince him to sign? With 8 sacks in 13 games for L.A. in '19, he certainly seems to have potential as a situational pass rusher, or good to give Highsmith a breather. He should be able to come into the Steelers D with relative ease, having spent time with Cappers similar D in Green Bay. Does an 11-0 S.B. contender offer enough incentive to get off the couch and if so, how long before he's in any kind of game shape to contribute??? He kind of owes us one for that forced fumble of Mendenhall!!!!

Claw matthews had a clause that paid him the difference of his salary for this year and 2 million dollars, Because he was cut for cap purposes.....

So he gets paid 2 million for sitting on the couch... he didn’t want to play for free and he wasn’t going to take just a little over that to Play either...

Its tge end of the season and we are contenders, so he may be willing to play here, idk....

For depth- I would kick the tires on either Matthews or Anthony Zettel (if he’s still available). I think Zettel may be the best bargain for a vet out there for a rental.

I'd look to bring someone in for depth. If we have someone go down again, we are supper thin. Bring someone in now so by the end of the year and the playoffs, they have their legs under them and can play, if necessary.

**** Harrison. What are we bringing him back for? To sleep through his virtual meetings??

Please......... who hasn't slept or nodded off during a meeting........

And this coming from a guy who admittedly drinks on the job........ DRUNK COPE...........lol

As long as he has one more 100 yard Superbowl sprint left in him...... sign him up.......... Tomlin needs to swallow his pride and welcome the prodigal son of a ***** home..... (sarcasm)

Even Hoot .......who apparently lives under a rock ....or so I have heard ....... would surely welcome DEEBO ...BACK IN BLACK ..:rockon: & GOLD

Tom Brady and the Ole Boys Club approve this signing:boom::boom:

Harrison is one of my all time favorite players, but there is no way I want him back in this locker room. He was openly disrespectful to our coaching staff, for whatever self perceived slight they may have caused him. His needs are not above the teams' needs. That is why we dumped Bell and AB for nothing, and that's why we dumped Harrison during the season. I do not want him around this young group of overachievers, just to sow seeds of division because he isn't getting the playing time he wants. That ship has sailed.

And I can drink all I want. I work from home and only drive to events. Which is today, which is why I haven't had a drink, yet...

This times 100. Tomlin and company learned some very valuable lessons in that era about keeping malcontents on your team regardless of their talent level. Malcontents are a corrosive acid that spreads through the locker room and are a horrible influence on all the younger players.

Ebron is inching to that. Coach Tomlin will reel him in but Ebron's mouth is going to distract sooner than later.

Salute the nation

Anyone else find it curious that they haven't made any known moves yet?

Not sure if Deebo is worth a look or not, but the link that started all this is him just trolling, IMO.

The fact that he even put this video out is problematic. If indeed there are discussions taking place with the Steelers, it’s not his role to leak that info to the media the way he did. As you said, “trolling.” We have a drama free locker room right now. Let’s keep it that way.
