Jacoby jones released

We've been asking for a decent KR for awhile now. They bring someone in and it didn't work. It happens. I thought the change of scenery would help Jones, but he has lost it. You can't blame the coaches or Colbert for trying to upgrade the position.
I can. They had the perfect guy already on the roster. You catch the ball and take the knee. If they kick the ball to the goaline Wheaton is as fast and elusive as any of the other guys they brought in. Why waste a roster spot.

I agree

IMO it should have been Wheatons job from the getgo.

I don't know why they don't use Wheaton, other than not wanting him injured for WR duties.

See it doesn't end with one player ether.

shamarko
jarvis
blake

it is obvious these three have no business starting yet all three started and two still see a significant amount of playing time

we spin in many threads between the players and coaches fault

and some valid points are made for both sides

but we in the end know it is the head coach that continually doesn't make good adjustments, or simply sits on his hands too long before making them

two out of the three listed I would have already cut.

and Jarvis would see only garbage time reps.......

with Boykin and Coc you took chances but why stop there ?

when Shamarko was a never start and Blake started sucking wind with coverage and tackling it was obvious they were to little use

I would have brought two other players in sometime mid-season or even earlier to replace them.

you forgot Cam Thomas. I did agree that they hold onto too many "below the line" players. I just didn't name the obvious ones that we have around here hundreds of times. It takes the staff awhile to admit their mistakes.

Here is the real truth about Kick Returners. There are four of any significance at all.
Abdullah from Det: He has 1013 yards on 33 returns - 660 yards if he just takes the knee = 353 net yards
Patterson from Min: 949 yards on 31 returns- 620 = 329 net his 2TDs probably make him most significant.
Lockett from Seattle: 853 on 33 returns- 660 =197 Net 1 TD
There is about a total of 8 TD's in over 1700 returns in a season. A designated kick returner is a ridiculous position I'd bet almost anything that the number of TDs scored as a result of kickoff fumbles balances out the TDs scored and most of the significant returns that led to scores. Then you have to factor in holding calls that lead to a team being pinned at its 10 or worse.
Dri Archers 25 yard return ave was nut on a reasonable return success rate. He was not released for his skills or lack of in that situation. He was released because something went down when Bell was hurt and Williams was tired and they inserted AB over him in a crucial situation. But instead of looking for a Veteran back like Thomas or Steven Jackson or even giving a guy like Chickillo a hat on game day to maybe find out a little about what you have there, they picked up Jacoby Jones instead. :towel2:
