in all fairness, the reason Bengal fans hate us is because our team has kicked their team's *** for a long, long time.

I was thinking the same thing: If all we did was whine and act spoiled - but not cave their skulls in - they could care less. They hate us because for the majority of the last 40 years, we crush their grills in. Browns fan would say the same thing - saying they hate us because we whine if we don't win it all. Well, that's because "the standard is the standard" and we expect to truly contend at least a few times a decade. Those sorry teams can bottom feed for year after year. They hate us because we consistently crush them, and when we aren't at the top of the div., we find that unacceptable, as we are about to find ourselves this season.

I am saying we have a coach and qb that together have won a superbowl and played in another. If we change what are the guarantees the new combination would be better. Peyton wins because he is the coach on the field and off of it to a degree. I love Ben but he needs someone who can work with him and keep him in line. I have seen growth with Ben under Haley as much as I hated Haley at first. I don't believe changing coaches will help in the short term and will waste what is left of Ben's best years. Manning is a completely different kind of player and yet Ben still has out performed him in the only stat that really matters.

Sorry, but I can't accept this line of thinking; if we were to bring a new coach, and that coach has a sound plan and program for the quarterbacking of this team, I'd be willing to bet that Ben would be just fine (and by "just fine", I mean he won't fall off a cliff; it doesn't mean that he won't start to see his numbers come down a bit over the remaining yrs of his career as he gets older, because that's to be expected).

There are never any guarantees. What guarantees do you have that Tomlin/ Ben can even get to another playoff game? They haven't won a playoff game since 2010. What guarantee do you have that Tomlin can build a team? He's never done it before and looking at his draft record you can assume he'll struggle with it.

Yea, 4 years later, under Tomlin's watch, we have improved two positions, Bell and Brown, and have regressed in ALL OTHER POSITIONS.

That was true as far as wining one with the previous coach and playing in the afc championship game the year before. Why would you not expect the next coach to do the same?

Jesus H Christ you guys are so ******* spoiled it is ridiculous. This team is not bad it is inconsistent. I have seen growth everywhere on the field this year except in the secondary. We are in much better shape now than we were at this point last year. We virtually control our destiny if we can put together a run. to listen to you ******* you would think we were 0-12 and were devoid of talent what so ever.
.

Yes, this magical "run" that has virtually no chance of materializing. What exactly have you watched over the past month?

I'm seeing two wins at most the rest of the way, which won't win the division or make the playoffs in the AFC.

This team is more than just a couple players away. It needs entirely new direction, management and leadership.

Maybe just a couple of players away from nearly every position. I am not sure we have 10 good players on the team once the old guys leave.

I will call good players- Pouncey, DeCastro, Bell, Brown, Timmons, Heywood, possibles Tuitt, Shazier, J. Jones. The rest are just guys.
Not counted in this list were the old guys that are declining or getting up in years, Ben, Harrison, Troy, Ike, Gay.

It looks to me like it is time to really start the rebuild, we are likely going to be looking at some high picks soon and might for quite a while.

Then you're not paying close enough attention.

Colbert needs to go, but the talent evaluation is a joint effort between him and Tomlin.

Colbert's system seemed to work fine when he was working with Cowher.

POINT being Cowher, it was mostly him !!!!!!

I see what you just did there......................

Finally, someone with vision !!!!!!

And by the way, if we beat Cinci, even in a landslide, I still don't care. This team has proven however good they look vs. some teams, they are likely to stink to high heavens soon after. They are nothing but a tease. And that is on the head coach, all the way. He ha proven that he simply doesn't know what to do, unless a team of veterans, full of good players and leaders in their prime, is at his disposal.

We get it, i'm guessing yaz don't care, REALLY?

Once again, great as is post.

Gloom and doom suck nuts can leave at any time. Don't forget we are in a playoff race............................................STILL and even with our suck @ss team we have. We are not nearly as bad as some here think and not nearly as good as we have shown. Somewhere in between. Might be good enough to get us there.

Salute the nation

What color is the sky in fantasy land?

Fantasy Land??? The Steelers have handled the Colts and Ravens fairly easily....they have suffered against ****** teams which is ******* embarrassing, but they won't be facing any ****** teams IF they reach the playoffs.

I would rather look for positives and expect them to succeed instead of sitting on a message board whining like a little ***** about how ****** my team's coach is all the time....or hoping my team loses so they can get a better draft pick.

Yes, yes, we get the schtick

The fact we have not one player from either the 2008 or 2009 draft is mind boggling. If this was my team heads would fricking roll this off season starting with cool shades.

True dat. One thing that might also be a reason for heads to roll, Look who we do have from 10,11,12,13 we should have had two impact players from each of those drafts and one good player. I think we found two impact players in Brown and Bell. We may have a few good players in Pouncy, DeCastro, not sure yet on Tuitt, Shazier, J.Jones, McCullers, Wheaton, Bryant. I suspect from what we have seen from the rest of them that they are just guys. Do to poor management of our roster we have just signed a guy that nobody wanted and in fact teams with a need at the position in at least one case took a player from our practice squad instead of him.

I truly believe we are only a couple of defensive players from having a solid Defense to go with an offense that would be all world with a defense that gives them the safety blanket of turnovers and big plays. We need a couple of corners and a Safety. I think we have the D=Line already they are just young (Big Dan, Heyward and Tuitt). Offense I am fine with only maybe another Tackle.

First thing Noll did when he took over a ****** team - draft Mean Joe Greene. Cowher always made sure the Steelers had game changers and playmakers on defense . He inherited Woodson and Lloyd. But he also made sure the cupboard was always full and someone was ready to step up.

Since Tomlin has shown up the Steelers have not drafted anyone decent on defense since his first draft - Woodley and Timmons. Since that the defense has rarely even been addressed. And it shows now. If you believe the Steelers are "a couple of players from having a solid defense" maybe Santa Claus will bring them for Christmas this year.

Bens team outperformed him Ben didn't. Ben was bad in 2 of 3 superbowls and his playoff numbers are not as good as Peyton's. Ben can't even make the playoffs without a top defense Peyton has gone far In the playoffs with a bad defense. That's why Ben has sat home watching these guys 4 yrs already. Top qbs do t miss the playoffs at the rate Ben does

Ben had some good moments in the super bowl against zona but did not dominate the game. He also had some stinkers. In both games other players scored points that got us the win. Ben made plays during the season and helped a great deal on getting the team to the big games during his career but he has not been the driving force on the team for most games. We did get to see two games this year where he was truly great but they are more of an anomaly than the norm.

I really think that now the good days are behind Ben and he will linger still good but not great from now on.

Ben needs to get his head out of his ***. I do think he has a super bowl win left in him. He's got to alter a few things in his game to make it happen. With that being said our defense couldn't stop a pack of kittens. We'd have to outscore people and our offense has the potential to do that, but potential doesn't win championships. Hard work&game planning. The game planning falls on the coaches. I just don't see it.

I'm good with losing....we can get a higher first round Linebacker to replace one of the two previous #1's that are broken. Then we can take a height-challenged kick returner who runs "real fast" to replace last years "real fast" one who doesn't like to get tackled.

I dont know what it is about the Steelers, but we can't keep backers healthy. The Steelers can draft any LB #1 in the next 20 years and I am certain that they wont last more than 8 games without going down and missing significant time.

That is pathetic. It's like Jim Carry in Dumb and Dumber.

It's refreshing to see Steelers fans operating in the realm of reality. The "we can still make the play offs" lot remind me of Browns' fans.

Except we actually can and do make the playoffs fairly regularly. 8-8 for the browns would be a GREAT season for us it is "Bad".
How are we not in the playoff hunt???

Tonight, Tonight, Tonight i have to wade through these Psussudio arguments that merit No Reply at All...

you sure post a lot for someone who doesn't care

Don't confuse a prolific ability to create copy with caring. I care when they are worthy of caring for. If ownership doesn't care enough to make obvious improvements, why should I? And for someone who accuses others of whining, you sure do whine a lot. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
