Sad to say but for the first season since 1997 I will not have Sunday Ticket.

I just knew after last years warm and fuzzies that AT&T would be difficult in dealing with as far as obtaining a discount.

Used my usual forms of negotiation and they just wouldn't come down to what I felt was acceptable.

I fully admit that I was given the 2015 ticket for free but as a customer of 20 years I'd like to feel a little love.

I figure I'll have 10 Steelers games on local TV so the few that aren't on I'll go to friends and watch.

It sucks but I've had enough.

I usually wait until August to get my discount. I've been thinking about cutting back on my DirecTV to the most basic package anyway. I recently bought one of those Amazon Fire Sticks with the Kodi app on it so I no longer need all those channels DirecTV offers. Especially the movie channels. I know you can watch live sports on the Fire Stick but I don't like the delay on it. Some games are 2-3 minutes behind.

I was rejected last year first time I tried, but called back later, talked to a different retention supervisor and got it for free, my spiel worked two years in a row!

Of course I wanted it more than for Steelers games, I watched everything....got a Fantasy Football Championship out of it too!

But my luck will probably run out too, haven't tried to call them yet.

Do you have direct TV?

I do. Anyway, their new software with AT&T cost me to youtube from my tv to the web. I explained to Direct TV, that this was a big feature for me and now its gone. Their fault.

They offered me a free Sunday ticket or a $20.00 discount per month. I took the $20.00 discount per monty. Once a year I have to call and " remind " them to continue it until my youtube comes back.

Worth a try man.

Yes. I've had it since 1997 when I went to my local Circuit City bought it and installed the ******* thing myself for the soul purpose of being able to watch Steeler games every Sunday.

Back then it was much more difficult to catch them but with the addition of Sunday night and Thursday night football it has cut considerably into to the packages value.

I'll give it a shot again at the end of July when I'm no longer under contract because with all the options out there today I'm fairly confident in finding a cheaper form of entertainment anyway.

Just wanted to put it out there and let people know my experience. A friend of mine works within AT&T and told me they weren't going to be as flexible with discounts this year. With a new terms of service recently released I didn't want to get stuck paying a cancellation fee once it appears on the bill next month so I figured I'd just go ahead and see what happened. I'm not the football fanatic I once was and as long as I can get my Steeler games I'm good.

What are you talking about? Explain that in more detail

I haven't made the "I am calling to cancel" routine in a while and I never even see the bills so I can assume my DTV bill is way too high.

It's just such a chore to make those calls. But I am overdue. I am probably paying $100-150 a month more of what I could be paying for TV, phone and Internet.

But like others said, AT&T owns so much market share, that they don't always fall for the "Well, I am going to cancel then" routine.

I think I will make the call right now.

$150 is too much to just toss down the toilet each month.

man I just pay the price and am happy. the 1 year I could get direct tv I had to go to a steeler bar every sunday. would spend at least $100 a week. and I had to get there at 11 to get a seat. I happily pay the price for the ticket

Dude, definitely have to factor in bar bill. Even if you don't drink, its still more than NFLT. Plus, the added advantage of being able to switch to any game being played. And being on your own couch. 1080.

I think what Coach is talking about was awhile ago under the menu/ extras (where Pandora is) you used to be able to watch YouTube but they did away with it for whatever reason.

Did you hook the TV up for the internet? You used to be able to do it with direct TV until AT&T came in. Now I can't use youtube on my TV.

Yes, that is it.

I tried calling once and they wouldn't budge. My contract ends in July however so I will have more leverage at that point.

I cancelled DirecTV after the super bowl this year, and had Sunday Ticket for 5 years. Never got a discount. Hoping that I can call back in late August and get a "new subscriber" deal.

Let us know how that goes. I tried that couple of years back and they were pretty sure I wasn't really new.

I wonder if this works on mobile. Lol. I doubt it. Will have to foot the whole bill. Its worth it though.

I live in eastern PA. and the only games I sometimes don't get are the ones on FOX. This year we play NFC East teams so even the FOX games will be on. No direct TV for the first time in years will be needed.

Well, any time the Eagles are playing at the same time as Pgh, you won't get those games. You will get the 4 games on prime time. And a few others, maybe 2-3. But you will miss at least half of their games.

If we have to go to the bar, it's at least $30 a pop, if not $50. Not to mention the convenience of sitting on your own couch/lazy boy and being able to switch to any game being played.

Last year I watched a preseason game on a website called ustvnow.com It's for servicemen and Americans abroad but when I signed up I was never asked where I live.

I looked into it some and found that - as far as I could tell - most every Steeler regular season game was on it, too. That's because some of the content comes from a CBS station in Hershey, Erie or some town like that.

If DirectTV continues playing hardball, that could be an alternative.

But I'm surprised AT&T hasn't yet made the Sunday Ticket available to U-Verse subscribers. I think it eventually will though.

Best they would do for us was 20% off.....no NFL package for me for the first time in many many years. There's got to be another source out there.

About September I'll be on my hands and knees begging for a stream or a pass or anything to stop the twitching.

Then there's this.....

The NFL GamePass has launched in the US. Here's why you'll still want the international version (and how to get it).
http://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0LE...o-get-it/RK=0/RS=miMhJ_mb5i68BUicGrRip_PF_sE-

If this NFL Game Pass wasn't above my computer aptitude level, it might be something to check out....but, it also seems pricey and with the need for a SmartDNS or a full-blown VPN ( whatever they are ?) to get real time games, I would need a tutor or full time tech geek just to watch football.

and this seems shaky to me, anybody familiar with adblockplus ?? Seems if it was that easy to do the NFL would have sent the Black Helicopters out long ago.

Streamin' Demon 9 months ago

Why would anyone go thru all this? Every game is streamed live online every week for free.
I recommend everyone download and install adblockplus first (it's free), as it makes everything easier.
Then go to http://zunox.hk/ and pick your game(s). This works for NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, NHL UFC, MMA, BOXING, NCAA FOOTBALL, NCAA BASKETBALL and almost any other sports programming.

Ustv is based in Harrisburg and is a Ravens market. When the Ravens play at a different time, they show the Steelers.

I have had ST since it started many ions ago. I do not mind paying full price, my son and I watch Steelers games and almost every other game as possible. My MAJOR issue with it is their mobile experience.

1. Hate they black out on mobile if it is on local. If im on mobile I am NOT local anymore. I take trips to NYC on the train and watch on the phone and when it happens to be on my local I cant see it. Makes me burning mad.:livid:

2. The mobile hiccup. I can watch any other service on my phone and it plays as if it is on tv. ST though will hang over and over. I think it is a conspiracy. AB streaking down the field, Ben let the ball go and it is a ...... PAUSE. ARGH!!

Give me local on my phone and better quality and I would pay MORE.

I just renegotiated with AT&T and got my monthly cost down to $123 a month WITH NFLT.

I also have all the premium movie channels (HBO, Showtime, Encore) as well.

Some were telling me they won't negotiate. Well, I don't know if I am lucky or good, but they did with me.

It could have something to do with me starting the call saying I wanted to cancel the service.
