Perhaps. 4 losses in the last 5 games and missing the playoffs ( which odds say will happen if we lose ) should signal an ending for Tomlin, who had a 13-3 team last season, and a 2019 roster full of pro bowl players.


Some will goat the heck out of Boswell or Bulter. My retort, who the heck kept and hired them?!



On the other hand...



If the Steelers win and win their final game to make the playoffs, Tomlin will make the playoffs, and a win into playoffs will secure his job for a while.



Will it be a coup de grace, or Jubilee?

That is irrelevant to the fact we could see Tomlin here for a long long time.......Unfortunately.
 
Lose today to what appears to be a much better team and our season is hanging by a very thin thread. We must win the division to make the playoffs and that would mean the Rats losing next week to the Clowns and us beating the Bungles. It could happen but I seriously doubt it. Tomlin isn't going anywhere either way. If we lose, his seat becomes that much hotter. If we somehow win the next two and get in the playoffs, don't expect him to be leaving any time soon. He will more than likely get another extension.
 
Well that was the worst part of last night. My beating the Pat's last week Tomlin saved his job. No playoffs and another year of Tomlin.

They could have ended the year with six straight losses, and Tomlin would be coming back next season.

The Patriots game just adds to the frustration with Tomlin because it showed what the Steelers are capable of in what will likely be another disappointing, underachieving season.

Win or lose, I kind of expect the Steelers to play really well against the Saints, as it's the kind of game for which they do rise to the occasion, with expectations being grounded going in.

Under Tomlin, the Steelers cannot handle being favorites or expected to reach the Super Bowl. It's part of the long list of reasons why the Steelers need to move on from him.
 
Punx is right. Tomlin will be back regardless of what happens this afternoon. The Steelers always do well against soft teams. NO is a finesse team. So I expect the Steelers to take care of business. Plus it isn't on the west coast (which seems to be the Steelers weakness).

There was Steeler organization talk last season in the form of minority owners to fire Tomlin. Recently legendary Steelers player have soured on Mr. Cool shades. And most of the fans have had it with him.


A season collapse, with the Ravens passing us with a rookie quarterback just might change Rooney's mind.


There are lots of straws on the camel's back. No one can deny that. Not even Black & Gold Bleeder.

Really matters not what minority owners want. Controlling interest makes the decides. Face it we are stuck with him for better or worse.

I disagree. Every man has his boiling point, and the pot is getting hot. If the Steelers lose today and miss the playoffs, I think there is a 33% chance he's fired.
 
The Steelers post season aspirations were scuttled losing three AFC games in a row against teams that rose to their own occasions and took advantage of Mike Tomlin's lack of preparedness, discipline and game management.
The Steelers should not have to depend on the unknown outcome of games that have yet to be played?
Chances are a Ravens smothering Defense could carry them into the playoffs and who knows where else with a Back up QB scrambling and gaining more yards than the RB's? While a HOF bound QB and a roster of Pro Bowlers will be sitting on the couch watching?
In reality the Rats shouldn't be in the discussion had the Steelers handled their business and won the division outright. This has been CMT's ship to wreck and he's steered it dangerously close to the rocks.
Problem is that even though the ship gets scuttled, he'll be right back next season.
Sorry Mr.Rooney bad captains only get worse.

Tomlin's job is secure. He pulled out a WIN against a long time nemesis which in turn fortified his appearance with the team. MYSELF, I feel we have reached the distance allowable by his continued presence. The "smoke and mirror" of the situation undeniably will add to the perseverance of obsorbing the negativity which we created. He is NOT exiting soon.

the defense of Tomlin will be he never had a losing season and he lost Shazier and Bell.
 
Ya know regardless of what today’s outcome is, whether we lose today and miss the playoffs or win out and get in and actually win a playoff game, something has changed for me.
I just do not feel the same with the Steelers as I have in the past. For starters I don’t feel the owner shares the same passion as his father and his father before him. With Art II it’s business and he’s not willing to make the hard changes when necessary and has become somewhat comfortable accepting mediocrity. Even his minority owners knew what needed to be done last year.
Then there’s the team’s identity which I have no idea what it is anymore. Gone are the days of the aggressive, intimidating defense replaced with something many years obsolete not able to create turnovers and hold leads.
And the offense great at times but seems to be a model of inconsistency committing far too many turnovers.
Then we have the lack of real team leaders like in past years and undisciplined players seemingly doing whatever they want.
A head coach who frankly has been an embarrassment and continues to do just enough to keep his job. A coach that should have been replaced after the embarrassing home playoff loss to the Jags last year. That was the time to start cleaning this mess up and yes, it’s his team of underachievers that most likely will be watching from home come playoffs. 2018 will go down as a total waste of a season but business will continue as always, a scapegoat here, a sacrifice there, but the cancer will remain and I will continue to grow further apart from my once beloved Steelers.

This is a lifelong job for Tomlin who will leave on his terms.

I'd rater see Tomlin gone, a new head coach and better position in the draft than another one and done in the playoffs.

Pretty much every season since the last Super Bowl title has concluded with what feels like a kick to the nuts, with Tomlin always managing to do not just enough to keep his job, but keep the seat cool the following season.

Art II definitely deserves more criticism than he's getting, as Tomlin seems to be way too secure/comfortable in his job.


One cannot really expect real changes in consistency of performance if ownership is not demanding enough of it.
