Initial Thoughts on Chiefs Game

what the **** Russ

2 TOs in the first 4 minutes for the Chiefs - lets see how that works out for them

Chiefs made that look easy - but miss the extra point

and another quick drive - nice hit on the punt returner but the loose balls keep bouncing the other teams way

DJ gets burnt - looking like a long ******* day

and a hold takes six off the board.....followed by a ******* pick in the end zone

where is that bottle of Brimstone...

hey a punt by the chiefs

take the pitch play out of the play book

nice drive - good mix of run and pass...Russ runs it in for 6

and a miracle - TJ got a holding call

Steelers have the talent to take this game...they gotta stop the turnovers and get some hits on Mahommes

Warren has been a lot better in the 1st half than Najee

13-7 at the half looked like it was going to be way worse...Steelers offense left some points on the field - have to be more consistent in the 2nd half

OL has got to get better....any block at all on that screen and it might have scored

**** this defense **** this offense **** **** ****

kelce wide ******* open all ******* day

maybe I will get to see the steelers in houston

**** **** **** ****

no ******* heart at all in the second half

OL destroyed, defense raped repeatedly

damn I ran out of my Brimstone...Merry ******* Christmas

why the hell keep najee and wilson on the field....******* idiotic
Appreciate the fair analysis, Boss. Merry Christmas.

For all the hype, Pickens wasn't a real factor. He did have one nice catch down the sidelines. What did he end up with, two catches?
He lost one TD and one long pass due to holding penalties on the OL.

That DC should have never been hired in the first place.
Tomlin needs to go. But the DC needs to be packing his bags 1st or at least with.

Not giving up on the season, might win a few playoff games.
Tomlin IS the DC. The DC's in-name-only are just there to be scapegoats.
Keith Butler spilled the beans when he retired.

10-7 and a 1st round blowout should be copyrighted as a "Tomlin."
In the Fire Mike Tomlin Group on FB we're calling a winning season followed by a first-round playoff loss the "Tomlinship".

As I recall my pre-season pick was 10-7 and a first round playoff loss, i.e. the usual.
Admittedly Ron,I was a true pessimist. Or realist. I guess it depends on peoples interpretation. I had them at 8-9 on here. Without a playoff game. I did think they were going to lose the last 4. And their first game against Atlanta.

Defense started out bad, seemed to settle in then got torched again
The one guy you know you have to cover they did not in the second half.
Offense is just a cluster. They have no rhyme or reason what they do. Every once in a while it looks like they have a clue then you dont see it the rest of the game. When you have two good, healthy backs, why bring in your 3rd on a very key play??
Pickens was having trouble containing himself this game and was lazy several times. I think he will have a big blowup soon
I think we had 0 sacks mainly because Mahomes was ripping the ball out so quick (what a novel concept). Not sure if blitzing would have helped, but i sure did not see much of it yet again
The end of the game was totally ridiculous. We punt on 4th and 2 down big which signals the team is done. They leave the D starters in there for what reason? We get a stop and have the starting O in there and run it, then go hurry up, and run some more. We used 0 timeouts and Russ almost got hurt on an awkward slide. I have no clue what the hell they were thinking. If you are giving up, put the backups in.

This team is worse than I thought. I no longer have the confidence they can right the ship. I don’t think the coaching staff is capable of changing things up. Same penalties. Same horrible play calls. Same lack of adjustments.

If I was Pickens I’d be looking for a way out and find a team that can win.

Tomlin is lost. Out-coached again.

This team spent a lot of money on defense and they are just bad!

I don’t think they beat Cincy and I’m going to put money on whoever they play in the playoffs. I just don’t have any confidence this team can with with Tomlin in charge.

I believe in the coming weeks we will start to hear players talking truths
Pickens will move on to greener pastures and likely turn into an easy perennial top 3 WR in a system with a QB and HC

Feel bad that such a talented fellow is hamstrung by this clown car…obviously he is frustrated by clowns to the left jokers to the right and stuck in the middle of a **** sandwich

At this point, i think Fields is the better option too. But remember, we give up some production with him, He was 4-2, but it was against the same caliber teams that Russ went 6-2 with. Would Fields have fared any better in these last few weeks?
He certainly could escape the pocket better, turn some of the sacks into positive yards. Let's not forget, he had quite a few big pass plays to Pickens called back because of penalties.

When they lined up with 2 down lineman on 4 and 1, after a timeout, you pretty much knew what kind of a defensive performance it was going to be.

More of the same this year. The roster is better on paper yet we see the same results. Sloppy play, the defense totally melting down against quality competition. I was still confident going into this game. Not anymore.

It's definitely tough. As bad as the past month has been I still feel we're a lot closer than we've been in several seasons. There's holes to fill but much fewer than previous seasons. Right now I think our OL is killing us. A lot of rookies are wearing down and we have some key injuries on the right side. Definitely need more DL depth too as well as help in the secondary. And a WR2!
You left out starting running back and a quarterback on the list of holes to fill. DL - I don't agree depth is required, there's plenty of depth there. DL needs a starter given Heyward is going to be 36 next year. More depth is also required in the secondary.

You also left out the biggest holes of all - Head Coach, Defensive Co-ordinator, O Line coach. Jury's still out on OC, given it's the same issues the Steelers have had since 2007 except for a few years when they had prime Ben, Brown, Bell, Bryant, De Castro, Heath, Pouncey, Gilbert and Munchak all at the same time.

What bothers me a ton is that almost every season tomlin led teams have had a huge statistical advantage at midseason or even shortly after that point to either winning the division or making tge playoffs, mike tomlins teams have collapsed in implausible manners plus a win to make the final game essential, often needing help to meet tgeir objectives... it makes little sense

On the flip side... terrible starts to the season still have almost impossibly good endings so again, we are always in it on week 17/18 ....

QB or no QB, this team will not do anything as long as Tomlin has his hands involved

What can you say. While many here have disagreed…..we are far behind the better teams. While Russ has had some good games he hasn’t done well against good defenses. I mean it’s not just him,but he’s the QB. I’ve seen his whole career because they’ve always played Seattle games in my area. When they signed him I said the Steeler Nation Faithful will be frustrated by the amount of sacks he takes. And the batted down passes. Especially during critical times. Nothing has changed.
Many said look at all the TD’s he threw last season. That’s why we’ve brought him in. Our RedZone offense is pitiful. He has done absolutely nothing to improve it. We are ranked 31st. All frigging season long.
If they signed him I him to a big time 3 year type contract, I just don’t know what to say.
The search for our QB continues.
The batted down passes are result because he cannot see over the line.

I’m sure Seattle had a better offensive line than the current Steelers. Once the pressure is on him he’s taking a huge sack or an int.

He does show promise in playaction/misdirection and bootleg plays. Why are those are not more implemented ?

I would also like to see more seam routes to Muth and Washington.

Coaching is leaving a lot of talent to be left to dry on the table imo

The batted down passes are result because he cannot see over the line.
Is it because he can't see, or because on short passes he can't get enough trajectory to get the ball over the line whilst keeping the ball low enough to be in the receiver's catch radius. That might be why the moonball is such a big part of his repertoire - he needs to arc the ball more than a taller quarterback to get it over the defensive line, which makes short, flat passes more difficult unless he has an open pocket.
