Im gonna be honest

Point I made in another thread. The end of last season was a slow mo car wreck. You could see it coming 8 miles away. In fact I skipped the playoff game cause I didn't want to watch the disaster. So now it looks like they don't really want to commit to Russ which I don't think they should and Warren is tendered at almost the same level as they would have optioned Harris at. How bout when the tails pin happened you gave Warren 20 carries a game and you put Fields in. Then maybe you'd have known.

No bold thinking here, Sask. Just win ... 9, baby.

The Steelers turning into a Jerry Springer show right before our very eyes. Go ahead and sign Rogers and while you're at it Omar, reach out to Marshawn Lynch and over pay him too. This team doesn't have enough attitude and drama with Picken and porter...

Draft someone in round one. I would rather give Pickens the payday than bring Metcalf in. Read a write up on Metcalf about him dropping easy balls every game. Or getting penalties called against him. Just my take. Our offensive scheme sucks anyway. Metcalf isn't changing that.

90 catches on 130 targets isn’t good? Pretty sure he ain’t getting 130 targets in the run/run/pass/punt offense we employ…but if he did I’m sure it would be because we utilize Muth even less.

It’s funny that all the things people cry about with GP are things Seahag fans cry about with DK.

I don't know. How many drops did he have?

He had 4 drops last year. Also, he sucks at contested catches. 36.6%. 75th best in the NFL.
He is the bestest apparently. SB here we come!!!!!!!!

I think you are right.

aside from the obvious non-losing season streak and being a head in the ground optimist, if Supe were GM:

1) reach out to Detroit to see what the trade value is for Hendon Hooker
2) dial up Kyle Trask's agent (Supe is not a Florida Gators fan, so take that into consideration)
3) **** can any idea of bringing in Joe Milton

Either of those two would be better than bringing Russted back or Aaron in. And would be cheap. With an eye on the cap, you can tender GP long-term. Both have been coached up by offensive minds, and won't need to be further developed, since we do not do that here.

Additionally, either of those two QBs would be an excellent bridge (at worst) to taking a QB next draft. Even if we package our comp picks to move up for one of the top four next season. Hooker is more mobile than Trask, and has a better arm. Both can see over the OL (unlike Russted) and neither bring drama with them (like old man Aaron).

I read if the Steelers sign Rodgers it's for 2 years and 60 million. How does that make any sense compared to Fields for 2 at 40 with a little more guarenteed. How does that make any sense at all. What a **** show.

Getting to this point isn’t just about who and how much, it’s about ONLY ones left and name their price.

Not having QB plans for quite some time now, falls souled on our control based HC. Last year you bring in two QBs on 1 yr deals, hardly get evaluation on the more likely candidate. (Wilson burned FO bridges while here and will NOT be back). Allowing the Justin Fields to leave, the way more up-side QB and for cheap.

We are on a rudderless ship and have sailed into this port of unbelievable ****-show. The next ****-show is signing Roger’s and forcing him to change his play to match Coach Tomlin’s view of offense. Old Dog to learn the new trick…….. no sense made here (DK Daily Shot has a good segment on this mornings release. Talks about how AR will have his contributions on how and what on play-calling………… right).

The STEELERS are the laughing stock of the NFL bar none. There is NO long term plan for QB for years now (even before BEN retired). I read some poster saying other teams are in this kind of mess as well, I don’t think so. I’d like to see that list of teams fighting for Aaron Roger’s to save their season. Add in the 42yrs old.

Guys like TJ Watt are very professional, but when things like this happen over and over…………. The money is what only keeps them here. That’s a big reason and drive to get maximum $$$coin$$$ because they know what they are playing with.

You and I both know the extent of this coaching regime / coaching / FO staff / owner……….. currently Laughing stock of the NFL.

overthecap has us with $65 mil in cap space, and have spent $1.7 mil
the FO is up to something... but I doubt even they know what.

in retrospect, we should have signed Fields long-term and taken a QB late in last year's draft. Jordan Travis would have been an excellent pick, but he was taken in the 5th. We didn't have a 5th last year and took McCormick with our 4th. Not that Travis would, at this point, be comforting, but we'd not be chasing grayed balls.

That would be known as developing a QB, something this regime deems unnecessary .

You’re right Supe, coulda shoulda woulda is how this coaching regime seem to live.

I think MT and Omar are going all-in with an attempt to make a legit SB run before the clock runs out on MT's current contract.

Bringing in players at the midpoint and end of their careers speaks to the 'win now' go for broke posture. MT and the personnel group within the Steelers have what I would call a failing grade in 'development thru draft' the last 10 years. They whiffed bigly on a 1st round QB.... and when you do that, it's usually a 5 year setback.

MT squeaks out winning seasons that look fine from a statistical viewpoint, but when we play top 10 teams in the league.... We get trucked.

I'm reading we are targeting Darius Slay as well... 34 year old CB. Fits the goal for b

I don't think Fields wanted to come back here. Why would he, he was benched after a 4-2 start. The Jets have a new and up and coming HC, they have better weapons than we do on offense, and they offered him a better contract.

It makes sense to a degree. They have 2 very volatile wrs now, if they keep Pickens. They are gonna want the ball. Rodgers is, by far, the best thrower of the football available to them. Fields is still a bit of an unknown with that.

It makes no sense if you are trying to build up a young team to be in the hunt for championships in the future. I don't think that is their main concern right now.

I said this in another post, but Tomlin got the guy the $30 million guaranteed by not having him play those last weeks of the season. I'm not saying Tomlin did it on purpose, or if Fields realizes it. But they had so many problems on offense last year that the last 5 weeks when they played the toughest teams was probably inevitable, regardless of the QB. Do you think if Fields is the QB during that stretch he gets the $30 million guaranteed?

Hell no

I think another reason Coryea is Tomlin won’t turn a player loose. They rarely trusted Fields to throw into the end zone when in the RedZone. He hampers so many players natural ability with his conservative approach. All players like to showcase themselves. I don’t blame Fields for a second for not coming back here. But I also believe if they really wanted Fields they would have offered him way more money than they did. I’m still surprised that Metcalf signed here without a QB.

So if Rogers signs here are we revamping our entire offense philosophy and scheme? Will Tomlin actually do that? Will Smith be up to the task if so? 🤔

Yes that too, he might crash and burn in NY, but at least he'll be given the chance to do what he does, here it was always going to be Tomlin's way.
