If one of the big three QBs is there at #25 would you take him?

Would you take one of the big three QBs in the first round?

I'd hope to trade down and pick up more draft picks. Now is not the time to pick a QB in round one. Maybe 3-4 years from now.

We're assuming that in 3-4 years from now a good one will be sitting there for us. Look at the Broncos. Their QB retires and suddenly they go from being a good team to an average team. I love Ben and in no way want rid of him but at some point he will need to be replaced. We can argue about when but if that's two years from now then the FO starts to look pretty damn smart if they have a ready made starter waiting to go.

Ben may retire in 4-5 years, so waiting 3-4 years may not be so wise.
If for some reason Wentz or Lynch are there, yes.
Trade if Goff is there.

Not this draft. I've considered this but ultimately I trade down. The teams at the top of the draft that passed on QB in the first will be hot and heavy after one of the remaining QB's.Tons of talent in rounds 2 and 3 in this years draft. I go for the picks. A team like the Pats, with no first round pick, will still be able to add some good talent with their 2-2's and 2-3's. Not their style but draft day will be interesting if they decide to trade back into the first. The look on Goodell's face as he has to announce their first rounder after he took it from them will be priceless.

Ben is 34 right now. In 4 years he's 38. With the amount of pounding he takes, he might only have 2-3 prime level seasons left.

Are any of the "big 3" QBs franchise type QBs? Or are they just 1st rounders by default (aka Bridgewater, Ponder, Weeden, etc) because they are just the best of the bunch this class?

I'm asking, I don't know much about any of them since they're smaller school guys or out on the west coast.

I said before I'm interested in the stock of the QBs this year and potentially trading back or causing players to fall to 1.25.

I think this is the last year we can rule out taking a QB in round 1.

No. None of the QB's are going to be worth 1/25. Not one of them. I don't buy Lynch, Goff or the kid from NDSU. If we're talking 3-4 years of Ben, there are more QB's in the college game that (in my opinion) have a chance to be better than any of these guys.

Why are none of them worth pick 25, and who are these QBs in college right now that are better?

Yeah, with the development history of this team, I find it hard to believe they will not be going the way of the Broncos.

They drafted TB, he was a special player. They didn't have a viable QB till drafting BR in the next CENTURY.

Agree with Supe, if Wentz or Lynch are there, I seriously consider taking them. Goff will be a bust.

No love for Goff bro?

none.
watched the QB drills at the combine. Goff may be a good player on the field in college but compared to Lynch and Wentz, his balls needed more time to get to the receiver. He had to put more air under them, which isnt ideal against quicker, faster, better CBs in the NFL.

If you are convinced the guy is frnchise caliber... Yes... If he is just a quality starter, no... We have holes to fill

my only impression of Lynch is him folding down the stretch against Houston

Thats what I was thinking. Ben can prolong his career if he becomes more of a pocket passer. And in all honesty, love Ben, but the guy can get better if he took his fitness a bit more seriously. The dude is damn strong. Take a page from Deebo and kill the league this year

It will probably all be hypothetical anyway. Someone somewhere will get a hard on for them and pull the trigger before us but if they genuinely rate the guy as a franchise QB you have to pull the trigger IMO.

On a SB caliber team, not just no but hellno.

On a team that is down one S and one corner from a ****** 2015 secondary hellno.

On a team that is morphing away from the 3/4 into more bodies into the secondary, hellno.

On a team that is down one of the best deep threats in the league do to puffing the magic dragon, hell to the ******* no.

I feel like we will get four (4) more productive years from Uncle Ben and then he retires at 38. No QB this year in first round since we have defensive needs first and foremost. Maybe start to really entertain taking a QB in round one 2018 draft when the kid can work under Ben for two years before taking over ala Rogers. Now, please, when the time comes, don't let Tomlin make this decision. He's the type that will get enamored with the Vick, RGIII, Vince Young athletic QB with the 70 IQ that cannot read defenses. I want someone who possesses the ability to read a defense and does not think run first. I don't want the athletic QB whose had that one or two dynamic season in college FB who's as dumb as a rock and whose game just doesn't translate to the NFL. I'm so afraid that Tomlin will **** this up when it comes to replace Ben. This is not a Tomlin bashing thread either but tell me that none of you are not concerned that he won't screw this up and set us back years.

We need a backup QB, not a franchise one, at this point in time. Everyone assumes we will draft Ben's eventual replacement. I can see a scenario down the road 5 years or so where we maybe get his replacement in F.A.
