Just so I understand you, Ike, are you saying Rb's are not easily replaced in free agency or the draft???
No, not every position is easily replicable. QB, LT, CB, Pass Rusher are much harder to replace for example.
At Running back, you can find a feature guy in rounds 2-5 ( look at 2017 draft ) in the draft OR buy proven veteran for a lot cheaper in free agency.
This is wise as the position has a shorter shelf life than most.
Tomlin doesn't understand the NFL offense very well. Point and case, he hired Todd Haley to run the offense. What happened? Lousy play calling and Red zone blues, despite excellent talent. Are you going to defend that crap?
If we are lucky the QB sneak and play action will be back in 2018 now that Haley is out of the way.
Coach I try real hard to see any logic to things you comment on, and while once in a Cicada season one occurs, its pretty obvious you are a friggin idiot.
Read your first line...."Just so I understand you, Ike, are you saying Rb's are not easily replaced in free agency or the draft???"
Now read mine..."
EVERY position is replaceable. Even SB winning QBs" (Caps and Bold emphasized). What do you not understand or grasp here? It's basic reading comprehension.
EVERY position is replaceable because they have to be. QB's.....Hostetler, Rypien, Dilfer, Warner's first year, Brady's first rodeo, Flacco....most recently Foles all won a SB' because of the talent around them, not because of them.
"we can find feature guys in round 2 - 5"..... blah, blah, blah.....the draft is a crap shoot. No one knows for certainty what ANY player will be. Pass rushers are much harder to replace huh? Why? There are more coming out of college than ever before because of the pro style defenses colleges are running......same for CBs, WR, QB,
RB's are the same....For every Eric Dickerson there are Willie Parkers. Didn't Denver have 3 or four different 1000 yard rushers in a row after Terrell Davis injuries? What did they do after that? Nothing....it was all scheme (zone blocking) See what you don't understand is that game planning revolves around putting the players in the best position to execute. OL's my Lord, there are numerous instances of so/so that produced because of continuity. Look at SB 43. Only a couple very good players on that line...the rest were average. Defense? Sweet Christmas.....James Harrison was highly sought after wasn't he? Potsie? Yeah he was a #1 pick, but cast aside because of the scheme. Coach LeBeau used him perfectly. You could go on and on (and you would) arguing who were the star players and who were the supporting characters. That is given. No team in this era has a team loaded at every position. Just loaded at ENOUGH positions. 2 on either side of the ball......Polamalu was all world....first ballot HOF (except in your evaluations), but he had role players that allowed him to execute his amazing plays (Clark, Smith, Casey, Foote, Haggans).
Finally the stupidest statement of your post...":Tomlin doesn't understand the NFL offense very well. Point and case, he hired Todd Haley to run the offense. What happened? Lousy play calling and Red zone blues, despite excellent talent. Are you going to defend that crap?"
You don't understand the game at all. Point and case? Proper usage would be case in point.....i.e. for example; Todd Haley was hired as a mandate from Art2 to change the offense to allow Ben to be better protected since he was being put on his back way too much and causing nagging injuries. Haley was tremendously successful in this regard....allowing Ben the lowest sack rate since being drafted. CASE IN POINT....sacks since 30/42/33/20/17/21. Arians had Ben sacked in his last three years on average 40 times a year. His high being 50.
Ben also became a much more efficient passer, no doubt due to the quicker passing scheme adopted to get the ball out of his hands and into his play makers (AB primarily). While play calling is always a gripe session regardless of who is the OC....I am not going to put blame all on Haley. Yes, there were some plays that were ridiculous, but all in all it's the players job to execute. This includes the red zone. You also have to give some credit to the opposing team as well. They are trying to win on each play called. Execution is everything......excuses serves nobody.
Funny you say QB sneak may come back....since it wasn't Haley who made the decision to De-emphasize that play in the offense. I personally think, KC or Art2 advised against it as part of the "protect Ben from Ben" mandate. I also personally believe the play is needed.in this offense. Just another thing a defense has to take time and practice over.
So enthrall us as to where your revelation as to Tomlin's lack of offensive football derives from.....in your head only no doubt.
