How good can James Conner be?

Fanaca IMHO is better than DeCastro, but he ain't coming back from retirement any time soon...

I think DeCastro is a better pass blocker. And Faneca the better run blocker...

Why would you take out an explosive play from Connor at an important time in the game? That's how impact players are. When they're grinding and BAM, there it is. Brown was held in check, yet made a typical short pass into a fantastic play. I never understood why "taking out that long gain" was an effective way to analyze a players contribution. The Steelers needed all that and got it.

Conner is less of punishing runner than he was in his early college years and I think think he's adjusting to his new style of being a complete back. I'd like to see him get more north-south and hit the holes a little quicker rather than take a Bell approach of being patient to try to find yards. This Ravens game is going to be a good test. They always play tough against the run when they're up against the Steelers.

Conner has played decent so far, better than I would have anticipated. He can catch and he has better speed than Bell. That said, Take away his long run of 27 yards he went 14 carries for 34 yards. With Bell you could run the ball to protect a lead because he always gets the positive yards even if the long runs are not there. Without him we have almost blown 2 big leads due to lack of running game.

OK, take away BELL's big runs in EVERY game.......OH that's right, he doesn't have any (3 over 20yards entire last season). Again, where is this BELL? It was his number of touches that got his yards.............BELL will probably never wear a STEELERS uniform again so I'd say it's time to move on as he isn't going to be here to worry about.

SaLUTE THE NATION

Conner definitely put in the work this past offseason.

He's still young. The sky is the limit really

Both have their pros/cons in ability. Bell is a great player, but what makes Conner explosive is his North/South ability. He gets up field fast with power either via rushing or receiving. Durability, that’s the concern. Hopefully, James can stay durable.

There, you see can you talk football and not be a troll. An interesting contrast to me is Conner is doing better in 2018 compared to Bell's 2017, and Bell had better OL health, with DeCastro and Gilbert out for games this season. Yes, I mixed the names up. I'm pretty sure you knew who I was talking about anyway.

Bell had durability issues too, the difference outside of play is Conner seems like a much better team guy, isn't likely to have off the field issues and is playing for a much better cap number.

Most everyone on this board can talk football and not be a troll, except you Coach.

Interesting contrast is you are comparing after 3 games...

Oh and another thing, Bell hasn’t had durability issues. He has had critical knee injuries, one of which was blatantly performed by Burfect.

Before, last year there was no “team guy” issue.

Think before you post. It would do a whole lot of us as well as yourself a favor.

Conner has played well, He isn't half the rb Le veon Bell is. Bell is a first team all pro. James isn't and never will be.

The best way to compare them is as starters, which is what can be done after three games, much to your chagrin.

A knee injury is part of durability! You don't; know what your talking about. Sorry to inform you Bell took shots as his team via social media long before he decided to hold it.

So now you know and can " think " before posting inaccuracies.

Social media digs? Check
Injuries? Check

Bell is not a team guy, the Offensive Line repudiated him. He has been me first type of guy, and a lair to his teammates and fans about the failed drug test. I'm not talking about his first DUI. I'm talking about the drug test he took on 4-20 that he joked about.

I find in interesting to see the posters who still choose to defend Bell.

Mr. Inaccuracy himself, spouting about inaccuracies. LOL, what am I inaccurate about?

Social media? Really? Why haven’t you demanded a trade for AB’s antics for the last 2-3 years? His social media acumen has done more harm than Bell has to this point. Can’t be because of production, because Bell produced just as much as AB when he was playing. Also there wasn’t any social media issues during the season like the stunts AB has pulled. He has his own personal photog that travels with him to record himself before/after games. So you have no clue what you are talking about.

I’m no Bell apologist, but I’m not a idiot like you and think he isn’t a great player and who helps causes matchup problems for every D Coord he’s been against. Even Hoodie proclaimed he was a nightmare to gameplan against.

At this moment, Bell isn’t a member of this team and wouldn’t care if he never wore the jersey again. He’s burned his bridges with his stunt this past July to now. Come trade or end of year, he isn’t even a consideration.

You’ve done a comparison of 3 games. 3 games is unfair to James, he could be even better after 8 games which would be perfect since Bell if reported would be inactive or on the bench instead. Which would show A. Yeah Bell’s a talent, but we can get similar production from another, so it’s maybe it’s not all Bell. And B. He hasn’t shown anyone else “his best year” as he proclaimed he would.

So AB has durability problems from the cheap shot to the head he got from Burfect as well. Bell’s 2 knee injuries weren’t created by a lack of durability, but rather an extreme and unnatural position during a tackle, one of which was intentional for harm. He’s missed 10 and 3-4 games total because those injuries. Other than the 2015 injury, Bell has played less than 13 games only once.

The only thing that “checks” is you are infantile in objectivity and rationality. In other words the board clown, who amuses to no end.

I think you smart enough to know who I meant to say, but I could be wrong.

Once DeCastro's hand heals, the running game will be much improved.

Conner is doing it with 2 players out on the OL and the LT and C not exactly playing up to par.

Why do we ALWAYS have to INTERPRET what you're trying to say???

Connor is here....Bell isn't. Which makes Connor > Bell.

I would think Bell's knee injuries may shorten his longevity a bit.

I would think Bell's knee injuries may shorten his longevity a bit.

Maybe, but I doubt any of us expected him to be able to survive through the number of touches he got last year, either.

This could very well be why the Steelers didn't offer him more guaranteed money, which I maintain was the issue not the totality of the contract.

That’s a good assertion Stillwright like with any type of duplicate injury, but you have to include the suspensions as well.

I never thought Jerome would have lasted as long as he did with his running style, but he’s a HOF’er for a reason.

Rotate Jaysam in and Ridley more. Bench Foster. Don't throw a exclusive tag on a player who last year showed he wasn't about compromise. That is the stat that isn't showing.

If I bench someone on the OL it would be Villanueva, he has been pretty awful for most of the year.
