AS much as you have said he (BELL) is all world bestestever RB, do you really think teams are going to leave him unaccounted for??? Hardly. Face the fact the STEELERS have an amazing amount of weapons and ANY team is going to be hard fetched to cover them all. With our true #2 WR back it makes sense that Bell will get less receiving attempts to him. Probably the hidden benefactor will be our #3 & #4 WRs as opposing teams higher coverage talent will be on our star horses opening up a little more for our lower, but very good, receivers.

Unaccounted for who said anything about that?? It will be more who he faces. LBs in more one on one situations without quick rallying safeties and corners who will be preoccupied with the WRs
 
I think the Steelers did a fair offer, I also think Bell has the right to want more if he thinks he deserves so. I'm sure a team like the jaguars would have give him all the money he asks in the open market.

Personally I think he chose wrong, because he's betting he won't get injured, a thing that has happened every single season of his NFL career. The Steelers will be getting probably his best two football year for 26M, a pro-bowler that excels in three aspects of the game, so it is a win situation for the Steelers. Hopefully Bell keeps healthy (and clean) and gets the mega contract he wants after two years and is a Win for him too, but I seriously doubt he gets it because of age-position.

Regarding his absence? yeah I get it, it's ok. He will be fine when things matter

It's in this thread, I believe and elsewhere. It said he would get $30 million over the first 2 years and $42 million over the first 3 years. I believe that averages $14 million per.

True but he won't be in the open market until after the 2018 season. It's just how the system is.

Exactly. If he wants super-duper big money he has to produce for the Steelers this season and next. He will be franchise tagged this year and next. Can he stay relatively injury-free and off the chronic for two years? Nothing in his history says this will happen. There's a better chance that Deebo gets another two year contract at age 40.

Good thing for the Steelers that NFL contracts aren't guaranteed.

That wasn't the premise of my point. Completely understand the owners and the NFL are racking in tons of money from the games endorsements and the like. It just seems when you start talking about $12 million a year it's very hard for the average person to completely put his effort and talent into a quantifiable rationale towards such compensation in comparison.
I suppose the owner of Amazon just start paying his employees millions of dollars annually, because without them he would be without those billions he has. I understand the comparison is far-fetched.

I'm glad that's the only point you took from the whole post. It wasn't an exclamatory statement, as much as It was a theoretical statement.

My point is It's hard for the average person to fathom what a $12 million a year pay day would look like. That kind of $$$ would more than just change the average person's life. When you hear someone turned that down for more based on potential it has a shock value attached to it.

I think it is fair to say the standard is set for what pro athletes get paid, but outside of pro sports who else gets compensated this way? It's almost a fairytale in comparison to what they do.

Except we have a baseline for the 2 highest paid RB's in the game. Both in the $8 mill a year range. So that sets a standard right there. 1.5 times higher than those seems to be a fair deal especially with the heavy baggage Bell is carrying around. I personally think the Steelers went way high with the offer...but the Peterson contract threw it all out of wack. Bell can ask for 2 times the next guy but hopefully we only have him for the next 2 seasons at just over $26 mill. His prime years. Let the next team carry his bags for him.

Agreed Conner was a lot more impressive than I anticipated. Light on his feet, smooth and quick in his cuts. I feel we are in good hands when Le'Veon inevitably misses games. I hope this serves as proof that he should take a MORE THAN FAIR offer to be the highest paid RB by a WIDE margin

He's also dropping the ball for 2 reasons.

1. everyone is correctly seeing, he is taking his eyes off the ball and turning upfield before securing it.
2. He's catching the ball with stiff hands. His hands do not give at all, nor is he making a soft landing for the ball. He's putting his hands up stiffly and the ball is bouncing off of them like hitting a wall. A good receiver can get away with looking upfield, because they are used to giving a little with soft hands when the ball hits them. It's more natural for a WR than a RB.
 
Not sure who it was but when their guy waqs lined up to tackle J.Conner and got hurt. They brought two stretchers out and loaded the main body of the tackler on one, then loaded his ankles on the other and all the announcers said was JAMES CONNER jucked him right out of his ankles..................

You do know A.J. that if Bell signed with the P*ts they'd use him for a year or two and then dump him? Under no circumstances would they carry that kind of contract for a running back. They don't need a running back. They need jitterbug receivers and a wide bandwidth for the QB's earpiece.

Yep the only teams paying Bell (or any RB for that matter) $15M/year are teams who are desperate for playmakers. Not teams who just need a piece or two here or there to get over the top
