Not only did we "game plan " against the rats without a NT but also they kept sending Watt or Dupree to penetrate instead of do gap containment and several times you could see the space left to be gaping holes for the runner to get in carrying a piano if he wanted to. Wasn't it obvious? What are they thinking an doing during the week previous to a game

I mentioned in game thread...Bud and TJ were, by scheme, ignoring the handoff and spying/hitting Jackson. This is what happens to running QB's...defenses take the chance to hit them hard and often. Dale over at DK also brought this up in a few places and in one article, Cam H. said part of the issue stopping the run was himself. Yea, I know he always turns the thumb on himself (good leaders do) but based on what I watched in game I believe the DT's and ILB's were tasked with the RB so the OLB/DE could tee off and hit Jackson.

Fair - I meant RG3 but I am on heavy cold meds. I ****** up typing. At least i didn't blame my phone lol

RG3 was a mobile QB no reason to think they would change their offense.

that said, I didn't say it was good/bad game plan...just that is what I observed.

Fans cling too much to 34 or 43 designation. We all talk about the evolution of the passing game in the NFL the last 20 years, but so many of us fans want to cling to 20+ year old defensive concepts. I loved Casey Hampton...first time I saw him live walking out for warmups, I grabbed my young son to make sure he didn't fall from the earth tremors. Dude was a beast. But the game has changed and the old space eater NT has gone the way of the FB. Speed, quicks, and athleticism are more prized than wrecking balls. Don't get me wrong...I love old school smash mouth offense and defense, but its gone.

Nope. Beating another guys *** with superior fire power will never go out of style. The Cowboys in the 70's were this super evolved passing game and Landry was a genious.

NFL football is still about power and speed. When one starts to win out the other will come back. You're always going to have to line up and out physical the other team. You start putting a bunch of light weight DLs and ILBs then you are going to get steamrolled against the run. That's what happen Sunday. The rats ram the football down their throats. Their 2nd team did it.
