The Pittsburgh Steelers........its still early in the season but with scoring up overall throughout the league the Steelers are ranked 6th in pts allowed at 17.3....The overall league avg is 23.4. They allowed just 87 yds rushing per game, ranking them 10th overall in the league. Again, its early but I think the defense is starting to come together. Passing defense is a problem but we are just beyond middle of the pack in that category.
Now, I already know this thread will have its detractors and they'll say "well, we haven't really played any tough offenses outside of NE....". True, but with as bad as things looked pre-season and the first game with the communication issues with the secondary, I do think we are seeing a substantial improvement over what we anticipated we would see. Butler is no LeBeau..I get that, but I think as the season goes along we will only get better and keep scoring below last years 25.4 avg we seen under Dick. I still think we are a couple seasons away from being a dominating unit provided we get better play from our secondary. With Tuitt coming along nicely and youngins in Durpee and Shazier (staying healthy) to mix in with veterans like Hayward, Timmons and Moats filling in nicely with spot play, im expecting a promising future and another SB run. Im optimistic, but im not gonna apologize for it either.
