Based on?

Your honor defense rests.

With this said

2.Woodson
3. Polamalu
4. Shell
5. Perry or Ike

Couldn't believe Woodson came back from tearing up his knee to playing in the SB. The water cooler discussions about if Cowher should put him on IR and bring someone else in were pretty interesting that season.

Their list across the board was atrocious. Just look where they put Mean Joe.

I mean, they put Greene 13th out of thousands of players who have played in the NFL. I really do not see the huge disrespect there.

Which player ahead of him do you have a big issue with?

Go look at his achievements stacked up against some of the others ahead of him. Then think about his impact on 4 championships to boot. Without going in depth he deserves to be ahead of Munoz and Johnny U. And should be no lower than 10 on the list. Who was more intimidating than him? White and Taylor perhaps? For me he would be top 5-7.

Blount (they changed the rules because of him)
Woodson
Polamalu
Shell
Taylor

I'm good with that. My only concern is that given the title of the thread, you're turning into Coach.

1). Blount not a uestion

The rest pretty much has been stated. I don't Remeber who the rookie was but he had just done that "jump high and hit the slats to measure" test and was pretty impressive when Mel came buy wearing his street cloths and dress shoes. Said something like not bad rook and proceeded to do the same thing only several inches higher, then just kept on walking.......................... BLOUNT at number 1.

Salute the nation

I can't give much judgement from the 70's guys. I couldn't watch them enough to compare. I would say that Woodson was a better DB and Polamalu was a better football player. Coverage and Interception wise Woodson is pretty hard to beat. But flying into the TV picture screen and erasing a ball carrier before they could make a first down. Never seen anything like Troy. Blitz, Run stop, Coverage, I'm not sure if I ever saw a defender that had to me more accounted for.

Delton Hall, hands down.

Same here, but I'll trust the videotape, statistics, rule changes & type of respect they were given by their peers to make a judgment:

1. Mel Blount
2. Rod Woodson
3. Troy Polamalu
4. Donnie Shell
5a. Carnell Lake
5b. Darren Perry

Honorable mention: Ike Taylor

Dont forget Glen Edward's.

he gets my vote! or at least one of them.... he could really light em up back there... was just a great football player that had at one time or another played every position at Florida a and m but for us he could really cover the middle of the field and could take out any receiver he was the legion of boom before there was one. cuz he could cover so well Wags could sit in the box you couldn't run you couldn't pass on the steel curtain and he was big reason you couldn't. and he talked it then walked it... he told "purple people eaters" eat this... in the tunnel at the Super Bowl " you better tighten your chin straps ur playing the Pittsburgh fukn steelers today!!!" then made one off the great hits in Super Bowl history to cause a game changing fumble... but beyond that he was a great player from a small school that was a key to the first steel curtain... couldn't overcome off field ****. love me some Glenn Edwards!!! gooo steelers!!!
